I can't believe that there is another PPV in the WWE again. It seemed like the WWE just had a PPV last week. Anyway, it's time for my famous predictions. Last month's did very well. Well let's start:
I am going to start off with the newest match that was announced by the WWE. This is the 8 diva tag match. It is Maria, Michelle McCool, Mickie James, and Kelly Kelly vs. Victoria, Natalya, Jillian, and Maryse. I don't know why McCool is on the babyface side as she is a heel. It really doesn't make any sense but should be interesting what she might do in the match. I am thinking that she may walk away in the match or turn on her partners. Anyway, I see the faces winning which are Micke, Kelly, Maria and Michelle.
Second, it is Finlay vs. Mark Henry in a Belfast Brawl. Now I see this match to be short. Almost every ECW match at a PPV is short. So this match is probably about a 5 minute one, if that. Finlay will hit Henry with his stick, and then Hornswoggle will come out and attack Atlas or Henry. Finlay will do something and win. Henry might get some good moves in but it will be too short to tell.
The finals for the intercontinental title should be fairly good. It is Rey Mysterio vs. C.M. Punk. Now I think both of these stars should be in the main event spot, not in a mid-card match. I think it is very disrespectful to Rey and he deserves more, just like I said in my blog, "My thoughts on Rey Mysterio" a couple weeks ago. I see a lot of high flying and nonstop action in this match. This match really doesn't interest me to much but I would love to see who the winner is and what the WWE does with the loser. I see Rey winning it. Well Punk was one half of the tag champions but they just lost it to the Miz and Morrison. I still see Rey winning it as Punk will have a rivalry with them. Both will give it their all and I know there will be some crazy moves in this match.
The next match is the Kozlov vs. Matt Hardy match. Now I personally would like to see this match. I am a big Kozlov fan as I think he has great potential in the WWE and he would be one of the top stars in the WWE in the future. He has already proven himself against The Undertaker, HHH, Jeff Hardy, and others. I know Kozlov would basically dominate this match. Matt will turn it half way through and get on top but I don't think it will be enough. I am calling for Kozlov to win as I think the WWE will not get him pinned or have him submit.
The match that I think would be a blockbuster all by itself would be the Batista vs. Randy Orton match. This match has the capability to be a classic, historic contest. Anything can happen in this match and every move is possible. You can see top rope moves by Orton, Batista throwing Orton outside and getting the upper hand out there. Batista can grapple powerful moves, Orton going against the ropes and much more. If the WWE does this right, then it should be a must buy PPV. I see this match going back and forth, not one person will have complete control through the entire match. Batista will probably take down Orton but the ending could go either way. I see a more likely chance that Orton will win. I personally would like to see either one but I am seeing Orton getting his hand raised. He will probably cheat at the end and then lead to another match at the next PPV.
The World title match doesn't interest me that much. I would like to see it but I am not going to really cry over it if I don't. I got really interested in this match at the last Raw, which housed the Slammy Awards. I really wanted to see this match but something says it won't be worth it. I don't know why as I am predicting this match to be a real show. I think each person will have some control in some part of the match. It will probably go to Jericho, then Cena, then Jericho. The ending will of course go to Cena. The WWE is not going to give him the title for a month. That may have happened to Jericho but the WWE doesn't want to do that to all of the Cena fans out there. I just think that it could be a little more believable. It's very clear that the WWE will do that. It makes me mad but I have to say it: Cena will win this match.
The WWE title match is my favorite of the night. It's a triple threat match for the title. where can you go wrong? I went to Armageddon last year and it had a triple threat match for the Smackdown major title, which was the World title. We know that it was ruined by Edge's impersonators. I see this match actually having all three stars in it. This could be a very good match or very bad. It doesn't look like it will be in between. I would like to see a weapon or two involved since it's a triple threat match and they are no DQs. I see each person getting some part of control in the match but I see Jeff getting the most out of all. Edge will have the least and HHH second. I think the end would be frantic. Everyone would try to get a pin over each other and they will be trying to push them out of the way. Then another person will come by and get the opportunity to win by doing some move that people say he cheated. This person is Edge. I am hoping that Edge will win. I wouldn't mind seeing Jeff Hardy win but I still don't think he is ready and I wouldn't mind HHH winning but he already had it. Edge will win this match and keep the title longer.
I am not buying this PPV because I simply can't but if I could, I wouldn't. This PPV doesn't seem that great and I wouldn't be mad to miss it. I would like to see the action but it's the same as last year almost. It's a no go for me. That is all my famous Pay-Per-View predictions, what are yours?
Here is a another installment of "my thoughts". And today I am talking about both the WWE and the TNA championship belts. Do you think there are too many titles or if they should change their look?
Now I am going to start with Raw's titles. Raw has 4 titles, the Women's title, Intercontinental title, the WWE tag titles, and the World Heavyweight title. I think having 4 titles on each show is great. Raw has many superstars and having all of those titles really gives a star a shot to win it. Recently, the World Heavyweight title has been changing hands so many times. In total, the World title switched hands 7 times in 2008. I don't think that is much but just in two months, it went from Chris Jericho to Batista back to Jericho and now to John Cena. Having it switch all those times really belittles the title and make it worth less. The IC title is getting more prestigious in my mind. I think the tag titles on Raw should get more attention and be defended more. I know that there aren't many tag teams but I would love to see a great tag team rivalry for the titles. The Women's title is very good. Yes it could be defended more but I think it's doing a good job. I don't think any titles should change what they look like on Raw just because they all look original.
On Smackdown, I like these championships better. The WWE title is on top, unlike the World title. The WWE title doesn't change hands often and I think the best of the best hold this title. Many people say that the style or the look of the title is horrible. They say it only looks good on Cena, and some say Edge. Personally, I like the title. The title is the only title in the world that SPINS. I mean where else are you going to find that style? No Where!! The stars don't rely on the spinning part anymore as I haven't seen it spin for a long time. I don't think this is a John Cena title. I used to think that but when others won it, I say them with it and I think it fits in. The title is so different, so shiny and full of life that I don't really know why people hate it. Also, this title is the biggest money maker title in WWE history. People want the regular WWE title back, the undisputed one, but I think that is just to plain and too old. I like how it looks and what that title means as many big stars won that but I think it's over with. So many people buy the replica of the title that it's just unbelievable. The US title looks great. I have no problem with this title. I do think this title could be defended more. I also think this title could really be a good contender for many stars. Just think of the matches: Kendrick, Benjamin, R-Truth, MVP, Kizarny, and Hurricane Helms. The tag titles are alright on Smackdown. Primo and Carlito are good tag team champs but they don't really fight often. The Diva's title, I think, is a title that will be a hot spot for the WWE in a couple of years. I think this can be like the IC title. Even though many people say the diva's aren't good, I think that so too, but they do put on amazing matches every so often. I like the contenders for this title than the Women's title. I think Natalya should have the title as she is probably the best diva on Smackdown but they will probably give it to Maria. I like the look of them all and don't think they should change any. The Diva's title is great. I love the colors and it's one of a kind.
Speaking about what people want, so many people want more titles on ECW. I have to disagree with that. First, many stars that are under the ECW roster go to Raw and Smackdown. Examples are John Morrison and The Miz, Matt Hardy, Mark Henry, and Finlay. So having more titles on ECW is worthless. Most of them don't even fight much on that show anyway as it's only an hour show. So my point is, I don't think the WWE is going to make another title for ECW so forget about ECW tag team championships coming our way. I liked the old look of the ECW title. It looked hardcore. Now the WWE changed it, but I like the new one too. The new one shows the transition of ECW from being hardcore to a place where stars start. I think it's too plain as its all platinum or silver. It just has a big ECW one it and no color.
Last but not least is TNA. I think TNA is perfect. They have 5 titles. I think 4 belts on a show like Raw and Smackdown is good. TNA having 5 titles can be overwhelming but they make it work. They have the X division title, which I think it s great title. It's like the Cruiserweight title, which I want WWE to bring back. It's for the high flyers and I think it's represented well. They have title defenses that keep it up to date and have rivalries for it. The TNA tag titles are also great. TNA has many tag teams but not too many people fight for it. That is the only problem with it but other than that I think it looks right and is represented well. I like the Knockout title. The look of the title is not anything special but its well done by TNA. They have it in matches and have people fight for it. This used to be the newest title in TNA but now we have the Legend's title. I actually am a fan of this belt. I don't know if you can be a fan of a title but if you can, then I am it. This title is different than any other title in wrestling. This title is unique. I like the red leather on it. I think they can do something with the name as it's not really a "Legend" but I have no problem with it. It's different and I like different. It really doesn't mean much in TNA now as it only been defended 2 or 3 times. The TNA World title reminds me of the undisputed WWE title. It has the same other of it but the TNA one is better. I cannot give a description about it but the way the head is shaped gives it a special glow. I love this title. This is my favorite title in all of TNA. TNA shouldn't change any title in way of looks, may be the Knockout title.
I would like WWE to bring back the Cruiserweight title as it was probably the most entertaining title. It had the best high flyers in WWE. I want it back now but when I look, there aren't, if any at all, that would hold this title. I mean who would hold it, who is a high flyer? I am thinking Kendrick can dominate in this division but there isn't anyone else. I think the Hardcore title would be the best thing in WWE if it came back. I would love it to be on any show and have those phenomenal hardcore matches again but there are already so many titles in the WWE that it would just be impossible. I would get rid of the IC title for the Hardcore title, but that is just me. That is all for "my thoughts" for now but please check back to my others and wait to see my others coming soon. If you have any suggestions for a future "My thoughts" blog, then feel free to message me. Anyway that is my thoughts on this topic, but what are yours? Talk to you next time!
Last week I said Smackdown hit a pot of gold but this week I think it hit a pot of silver. Last week's Smackdown was one of the best all year but this week wasn't as good but I still enjoyed it.
Smackdown couldn't have started better. We saw Edge come out with Vickie and had a match. Let me remind you this is Edge's first match on Smackdown since he came back. Now Edge faced Kung Fu Naki. I was very surprised that Naki controlled the beginning of the match. He preformed some good moves on the WWE champion. Edge came back though in a terse way and got the win. After the match, Vickie announced Jeff and HHH would team up and face in a tag team gauntlet match. I will talk about that match later.
The second match was Maria vs., the Diva's champion, Michelle McCool. Now this was a non-title match but it was very well done and actually interesting. Both were great in the match and preformed some good moves. Overall, I liked the match and would like to see another one, and I think I will as Maria beat the champion with a school boy.
Also on Smackdown, we saw a return. This return was more than a year in the making as Hurricane Helms came back. He faced the disappointing MVP, or should I saw WVP (Worst Valuable Player) as he can buy a match for more than 4 months now. I was surprised how big the reaction Helms got from the crowd in the arena as they were very excited and so was I. To me, Helms looked pretty impressive. I mean I know he is going to have some ring rust but for his first match back, it was good. Of course, MVP lost again and Helms is undefeated since he came back. The match was pretty much one side as Hurricane dominated the match.
A match that I thought was somewhat a waste of time was Matt Hardy vs. Chavo Guerrero. This match, to me, was more of a time consuming one. Meaning, I think WWE just made this match to fill up some extra time they had left over. This match really didn't last long but it was pretty good. Matt and Chavo went back and forth but really no one had complete control. This match ended in a no contest as Kozlov came out and destroyed Matt. It really didn't look good for Matt as you can tell Kozlov didn't take it easy on him.
The one of two main events tonight was the tag team gauntlet match. It was Jeff Hardy and HHH vs. (first tag team) Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins. I am glad to see these two stars back on Smackdown as I think they are a great tag team. They are former tag champs and deserve to be on Smackdown more. This match between these two teams didn't last long as Jeff and HH nearly took them out pretty quickly. In this entire match, both HHH and Jeff just didn't get along together. They first tried to out due each other and then they just couldn't take each other. Jeff got the win on Zack and Curt but the next team was John Morrison and The Miz. This match between these two teams was better than the last. Miz and Morrison have become the tag team of WWE. They fight on every show and I think are probably the tag team of 2008. They were doing well against HHH and Jeff and I really wanted to know how long this whole gauntlet was going to last. I then found out that it wasn't going to be too long as HHH and Jeff just broke down and attacked each other on the outside. The referee got to the count of 10 and had to call for the bell. The winners are Miz and Morrison but Jeff and HHH were going at it and it was pretty aggressive. They ran into the ring barricade, the ring steps, the ring posts, and were attacking each other too. The other referees had to come out to stop the confrontation.
Before the main event, it was the Khali Kiss Cam, a very special Khali Kiss Cam for the holidays. They had some audience members kiss but surprisingly, Khali kissed a WWE employee and that was Eve. I thought it would be another "audience member" but it's good to mix it up. Last week here on my blog, I wanted the Kiss Cam. Well I got it but now I didn't get The Brian Kendrick fighting. Where was he? Well it looks like I can never get a "perfect" Smackdown with both of them on it.
The main event of the evening was The Undertaker vs. The Big Show. Now I am tired of steel cage matches. I mean we had 2 cage matches on Raw in the past 3 months or so. I wasn't that excited about this match but I wanted to see who would win. After all said and done, this match was a great, I mean great, main event. It was probably the best main event in all of wrestling, including TNA. Both stars went back and forth, hitting punch after punch, grapple after grapple, and strikes after strikes. These two gave it their all and really put on a show. I really didn't know who was going to win so I was excited all through the match. At one moment, Taker jumped off the top rope for a leg drop but missed and landed right on his back. Before that, there really wasn't that many times they were trying to escape the cage. They mostly tried to get a pinfall. Both used the cage as a weapon on several different occasions. I liked the match and I give it a 4 or 4.5 star. The Undertaker won with this Hell's gate move.
Overall, the matches were good; not the best, but I liked the main event the best. Next week's show should be great as we have Jeff Hardy vs. HHH.
Here is a special installment of "my thoughts". And today I am talking about Rey Mysterio. This superstar is a high flyer and called the biggest little man. I have a lot of thoughts about him and here is the first one.
I would like to say I was never a big fan of Rey. As you may know, I become a wrestling fan in the attitude era. With that being said, I really didn't know who Rey was because I watched the WWE. Mysterio came into the WWE back in 2002. 2002 was a very big year in the WWE as there were so many brand new stars and the name change for the company. There were stars like John Cena, Batista, Randy Orton, and Rey Mysterio that came in at '02. Now Rey wasn't really a new star but a veteran. As you know he was part of WCW but he was new to the WWE and fairly new to the WWE fans. When Rey came in the WWE, I would consider him a veteran. He fought in Mexico, WCW and other promotions and countries so he really knows what to do. WWE put him on Smackdown and really didn't do much for him. If I was the WWE, I would have put him in the main event status. He already had the speed, high flying skills, wrestling ability and so much more but the WWE put him in the Cruiserweight division.
I think Rey had his best high flying time when he came in and after. From around 2002-2004 really was the time Rey preformed his best high flying maneuvers. Like I said he faces in the Cruiserweight division and I think that was a good spot for him. Even though I said put him in the main event status, I didn't mind him being in the Cruiserweights as he fought really great matches and performed breathtaking high flying moves against other stars that did the same. I think that Rey lost, or should I say WWE, the high flying moves. I mean he still does them but they aren't that impressive and aren't very skill full. I think the best time for Rey Mysterio in his whole career would have to be in 2006. At that time, he finally becomes a main event status star, which he should always have been. I think he also had the best matches in his career and was in the best shape in his career. He faced stars like Kurt Angle and Mark Henry, just to name a few. He was in the main event and put on main event matches that were great. He really didn't have his high flying powers to much as I think the WWE just didn't want him to do that. He performed more grapple moves and stayed on his feet more rather than leaving them.
I think Rey could make any match exciting and entertaining. Take a look at this, When the Great Khali is in the ring, he really doesn't put on a great match. In fact, he didn't make it interesting at all, unless it was the Khali Kiss Cam. Anyway, Rey faced him in a couple of matches and they were pretty interesting and entertaining. It seems to me that Rey could pretty much make any match against any superstar exciting no matter who the star his he is facing. Yes, I have seen matches that he was in that weren't exciting, every star has that, but I am saying Rey really can get the crowd into the match.
I subject that I am pretty angry about is what the WWE is doing with Rey Mysterio right now. Back in the 2008 draft, the WWE made him go from Smackdown to Raw. I really liked him on Smackdown as that was his home. When I look at the roster now, I can think of matches that he could have had that I would have loved to see. Some examples are: HHH, Jeff Hardy, Kozlov, The Undertaker, The Big Show, Edge, and The Brian Kendrick. It would have been great but we will never see it happen. Since he came to Raw I thought it would ruin his career, and it DID! I look at the roster and really can't see matches that would be like Smackdown's. For instance: Batista, C.M. Punk, John Cena, and Shawn Michaels. Now him against HBK would have been good and so would Batista but that is really it. The worst thing the WWE did was make him an upper-mid card. I really don't think people can be upper-mid carders but more like mid-carders but I think you get the point. The WWE made Rey face Kane in an alright rivalry and now he is in the Intercontinental, IC, championship tournament. Even though the IC title is precious, it's not like the World title. He should be facing in main event matches and contending for the World title, not Cena. I feel bad for Rey as he gone downhill in the WWE. It's almost like the WWE doesn't appreciate his skills or just forgot about him. Rey went from a mid-card to a main event star then to a mid-card. Let me tell you that you can't go up and down. Once you are a main event star, you stay there. Hopefully WWE will get some common sense and make Rey what he actually deserves. That is all for "my thoughts" for now but please check back to my others and wait to see my others coming soon. If you have any suggestions for a future "My thoughts" blog, then feel free to message me. Anyway that is my thoughts on this topic, but what are yours? Talk to you next time!
Here is a special installment of "my thoughts". And today I am talking about the original ECW. The original ECW used to be called the "good old days". Was that ECW really the best or is the ECW now the way to go?
Well my thoughts on the original ECW are positive. I always liked the original ECW, I mean who didn't? If you ask anyone, I bet most people would say that this time frame was the best in ECW. I am a hardcore fan, meaning I like tables, chairs, ladders, barbed wire, and all of those fun toys that they use. Not only did the original ECW have great weapons that were used but had great stars.
The original ECW was categorized as EXTREME. That is pretty much it. I don't think people even cared who was the champion or who was at the top or bottom in the rankings, but most of the fans cared about the carnage and the weapons. I think that is pretty sad but I have to admit it was the only good part in ECW back then. They had blaming tables, barbed wire bats, set up 10 tables like a tower and, most importantly, they used those weapons.
They also had some of the greatest stars in professional wrestling and the ones WWE had came from ECW. They had the Dudley Boys, Mick Foley, Tommy Dreamer, Rob Van Dam, Terry Funk, and my favorite, Sabu! In my mind, I think Sabu was the most destructive star in ECW and the one that went through the most. Sabu is characterized as "homicidal, Genocidal, and Suicidal" These were probably the most entertaining stars in wrestling. They pretty much did anything they could to entertain the fans and to get paychecks.
If you look at ECW on the business standpoint, it is pretty much a failed go ahead. First, ECW had no audience. They always went to places that housed hundreds or a couple thousand fans. No company can live off that and have all these big stars and have all of these weapons and injuries. Pual Heyman should have made it bigger and traveled to bigger arenas. Also ECW simply didn't have the money. They weren't profitable at all and they were just losing and losing. It was really like a crash and burn for ECW.
I do agree and say that this ECW was the good old days. This ECW is really not extreme but it was never intended to be. See Vince made ECW as a 3rd brand, where the young stars that are just starting out could be part of an audience and get TV time and improve. I think this was extremely successful. Just look at C.M. Punk, Evan Bourne, and so many others and it also housed some stars that really didn't make it big but also get to be in the main event on that brand like Matt Hardy and Mark Henry. I don't think the original ECW should come back. Even though I say it was the best part in ECW history, recreating those stunts and having those risks really takes a toll on the body. I mean there would be injuries galore. Too many people would see a hospital bill and it would cost WWE even more. I like weapons and I think WWE should use them more and may be go to the extent like the original ECW sometimes but not all the time. We need hardcore, extreme action once in awhile but WWE only gives us a steel cage match and let me ask you this, where is the blood? I don't think we will ever see this kind of extreme again, maybe that is a good thing, but we do need weapons and blood sometimes. I have to say that Edge vs. Mick Foley at Wrestlemania 22 was just like an original ECW match. We haven't seen this kind of match for years but we should. That is all for "my thoughts" for now but please check back to my others and wait to see my others coming soon. If you have any suggestions for a future "My thoughts" blog, then feel free to message me. Anyway that is my thoughts on this topic, but what are yours? Talk to you next time!
