tihs is a special installment of "my thoughts". And today I am talking about Eddie Guerrero. i wrote this a couple weeks ago, but since its 3 years since his passing, i decided to post it today as weel. Eddie Guerrero was caught lying, cheating, and stealing but does that really characterize his career?
Well I do not think that it does. He may have cheated in matches before, he may have lied to several people, and he maybe stole some titles here and there but that is all part of the game. I am doing this blog to show respect and let his career finally rest, not for telling how he was good.
Now he is good, I mean really good. He is a great athlete, a great superstar, and a great champion. I was never a BIG fan of his work. He wrestled in Mexico, WCW, in other promotions and in WWE. I only watched him in WWE though. I only remember him wrestling on Smackdown. As I said in my other blogs, I have the ladder match DVD. Eddie had a match against RVD in a ladder match back on May 27, 2002. That was one heck of a match. Like I said before, I remember him on Smackdown back in 2003-2005. During that time frame, he faced Kurt Angle, JBL, and Rey Mysterio. Those were his biggest rivalries on there. The match at Wrestlemania when he faced Kurt Angle was one of the best technical matches. The matches he had with JBL, like the Texas bull rope match, was priceless. The storyline he had with Rey was really controversial.
I said I wasn't a big fan of him. Meaning, I didn't buy his shirts or posters but I liked his work. He put on great matches. I think he should have been a main event star sooner. When he was WWE champion, he was extremely well at it. He did cheat in matches but that is all part of the game. He did lie but that is all part of the show. He did steal but that makes the show interesting.
I was lucky enough to see Eddie face in action in person. Back in 2005 at the PPV No Way Out, he teamed up with Rey Mysterio to take on The Basham brothers for the tag titles. If you want to know, Eddie and Rey one the tag title for that match. I was amazed at his skills.
It's a very terrible thing that he had to pass when he did. He was at the top of his game at the time. if he was in WWE right now, I know he would either be champion, battling for the title, or in the main event somehow. He was a real asset to the Smackdown show and really showed off his country of Mexico. I am glad he is in the Hall of Fame. He deserved it.
Many people talk about Vickie Guerrero now as she is the GM of Smackdown. Many people want her fired and many people say that she is a disgrace to the Guerrero family. Well that is completely wrong. If you look at what she has done, she is the most heated star in WWE. She is a real heel. Every time she comes down the entrance ramp, either by walking or wheelchair, or if she is on the titan tron, she gets booed by the WHOLE crowd for 5 minutes straight. The crowd could boo her 10 minutes if they want to but it's only a 2 hour show. Personally, I am a fan of Vickie so I wouldn't boo her. The storyline she had with Edge and Taker made Smackdown the #1 show for me, yes it beat Raw! I don't think she is a disgrace to the Guerrero at all. I think Eddie would be proud of her. Just look how big her character is, look how big of a reaction she gets, and look what she done for Smackdown. All of that and so much more, Eddie would just be in shock. How can you be a disgrace when you are doing a good job? You can't be a disgrace. Trust me, Eddie would be happy for her and he would have her keep doing it.
All said and done, Eddie is one of the best but also unrecognized in wrestling. I am sorry he had to go as I could continue to watch his frog splash. He will never be forgotten but now leave his career alone as people should move on. REST IN PEACE EDDIE, WE WILL NEVER FORGET! That is all for "my thoughts" for now but please check back to my others and wait to see my others coming soon. If you have any suggestions for a future "My thoughts" blog, then feel free to message me. Anyway that is my thoughts on this topic, but what are yours? Talk to you next time! Viva La Raza!
Here is another installment of "my thoughts". And today I am talking about John Cena. Now what can I say about Cena for you not to get mad? I have tons of subjects that go with Cena and some may be good and some may be bad.
John's character is only one sided. You can only LOVE the guy or HATE him, you can't be in between. When John first came into the WWE, I witnessed it and probably most people did. His first match was against the best wrestler of all time, Kurt Angle. I NEVER thought Cena would become the star he is now. I saw him come out and faced Kurt and I thought that was the end of that. Then he stayed on Smackdown and became a different character.
Now I might say this a lot but I am not a fan of Cena. I really wasn't a fan of Cena. At that time, I was a good guy (I cheered for the faces). It doesn't matter who they were, if they were good I wanted them to win.
With that being said, I did cheer for Cena at the time. I didn't buy his merchandise and I wasn't the person who couldn't wait for him to be on TV. I don't remember when it happened but it just blew up. What I mean is, Cena came in and was a person who, I thought, never would be seen again but then comes to have this character that is a rapper. He was this character who wore tennis shoes, jean shorts, had short hair, wore hats, and wore his pants low and showed his boxers. The real reason why he became big will be talked about a little later but remember the description I just gave you of his character. As John was this character, I did like his rapping. He had great rhymes that made me laugh sometimes. I remember some about Big Show and Kurt Angle. The other part I liked was him having the spinning belt. He first introduced the spinning US title. That was a great title but WWE got rid of it. The spinning belt became so popular that WWE decided to make it for a bigger title. A bigger title is the WWE title. The spinning WWE title is also amazing. People often say that they are tired of it. Well how can you be tired of it if that is the only title in the world that spins?
Almost everyone thinks of the spinning championships and they automatically refer it to John Cena. He was the star that introduced it but it really isn't his. That kind of bugs me. It's like the Hardcore title. People refer it to Mankind (Mick Foley) but so many other stars had that title. I like the WWE title and they should stick with it.
The most amazing part of Cena's career his how fast he has climbed to the rankings. He became a main event star in around a year. That is right ONE YEAR! The Undertaker and The Rock rose up to main event status in less than a year so is Cena going to be like them? Stars that rise up that fast really have talent or are really going to be big. Taker and Rock are/were huge so Cena will be too. Remember the description I gave you about Cena's character? Well the reason why he rose up to the ranking so fast is because WWE made him like this era. This era, this time frame, people are like Cena. There are people, mostly kids, who were the hats, shoes, boxers, socks, shorts, and shirts so they refer to him. They saw him and they said "wow, he is just like us". The best way for stars to rise up to the rankings is if the fans can connect to them. Fans connected with Cena because he was part of this era. He wore the clothes and he talked the talk. Instantly the fans love him. I agree that mostly females and little kids like Cena. Yes there are adults that like him (I am just stating that). But the kids are the ones that are like him and buy his merchandise.
I have tremendous respect for John Cena. There is no doubt in my mind that Cena has the most heart for wrestling. I would say WWE but he didn't start in WWE right away; he started off wrestling and loved it from there. I watched those videos that are on for Cena coming back and I can easlier tell that he has the most heart. A person who cares so much about wrestling and who gives everything for it really has my respect. As John got to where he is now, I have to tell you I can't stand him. His character is annoying to me. It's mostly the same from years ago but now he just gets old. He wears the same thing, which is still connecting to the fans, but his wrestling skills are starting to show. He was a great amount of strength, one of the strongest on RAW. But his wrestling is the same old, let me explain.
Cena's moves, match after match, are the same. You have signature moves from stars. For example, you have Batista doing a spear in every match, The Undertaker doing snake eyes and going old school as he jumps off the top rope on his opponents shoulder, HHH has the knee to the face, and Hardy doing the whisper in the wind. The problem with john is that his signature moves are getting more and more. He first had the 5 knuckle shuffle, and then he has the flying leg drop and uses suplexes on every star. I just find it predictable. Don't get me wrong, his matches are entertaining like the Batista and John match at Summerslam. That match was a 5 star match. I loved it.
It seems like Cena always gets injured but when he comes back, I know he will get title matches and be on the top again. As he comes back at Survivor Series, I know he will make an impact that I will hate. He will then go on and have a main event rivalry and face for the title before you say "turnbuckle". That is just how fast he comes back and is in the main event already. It just makes me sick. Also when he is on RAW, he always comes out at the beginning of RAW and talks for 15 minutes. It just makes RAW boring for me when he is on. I know he will become champion again and I know he will break some records. This time frame is all the WWE is focusing on for making John the best there is. WWE is saying that the 21 century is Cena. I know he will be a 10 time champion or even more by the time he retires. I know for a fact that he will be in the WWE Hall of Fame.
The last thing I want to touch on is Cena getting the world title match at the upcoming Survivor Series. Why does he need to have this title shot? When Shane McMahon announced this, you don't know how angry I was. See, Cena was out for months. When he comes back he should have to climb the way up the ladder again for the title shot. He lost at Summerslam against Batista which was his last match before he had surgery. There are so many other stars like Rey Mysterio, Kane, C.M. Punk that deserve a title shot, not John Cena who has his first match back and it's already a title match. It makes me sick.
I have a long way to go to put up with him. Love him or hate him, you have to respect the guy. That is all for "my thoughts" for now but please check back to my others and wait to see my others coming soon. If you have any suggestions for a future "My thoughts" blog, then feel free to message me. Anyway that is my thoughts on this topic, but what are yours? Talk to you next time!
Here is another installment of "my thoughts". And today I am talking about Eddie Guerrero. Eddie Guerrero was caught lying, cheating, and stealing but does that really characterize his career?
Well I do not think that it does. He may have cheated in matches before, he may have lied to several people, and he maybe stole some titles here and there but that is all part of the game. I would like to say that I got a request from a friend of mine here on WWE Universe but I would have never done this if I didn't get a request. People here on WWE Universe make threads on the forums and keep talking about Eddie. I am fine with that but I would like to say one thing. I don't know why people can't leave Eddie's career rest now. He is a legend in the business and he is a great athlete but can't we just leave his career alone. We can talk about how great he is but just let him rest in peace. We don't talk about Big Boss Man, Mr. Perfect, and so many others that are past from life. So I am doing this blog to show respect and let his career finally rest, not for telling how he was good.
Now he is good, I mean really good. He is a great athlete, a great superstar, and a great champion. I was never a BIG fan of his work. He wrestled in Mexico, WCW, in other promotions and in WWE. Here is another installment of "my thoughts". And today I am talking about Bret "The Hitman" Hart by a request. He is quoted by saying "I am the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be" but what does all that mean and does it really describe him?
First of all, I really wasn't watching wrestling in Bret Hart's era but I know quite a bit about him and what he did. Bret Heart wasn't in my era and he doesn't wrestle anymore. I know it's his life and he could do anything he wants but I would still like him to wrestle. Like I said, I would love him to come back, but if he EVER came back, I don't think it would be WWE. It would be WWE for many reasons and I will get to that later but I will say that I see a more likely chance that he would go to TNA. I am not saying he is going to TNA but if he ever came back, he would probably go there. Over the course of his career, he disliked WWE more and more.
Really the main reason is the Montreal Screw Job. This probably is the most controversial thing that happened in profession wrestling history. Really, I don't think we know the whole story of this Montreal job. I think there is something that we don't know. Bret Heart tells a different story and so does Vince McMahon. Really the question is what side you are going with? I would like to what I think about this.
I said earlier in this blog that its Bret Heart's life and he could do anything he wants to. With that being said, I don't blame him and I am not upset he left WWE. For the Montreal Screw job, the fact of that is Bret Hart was going to leave WWE and go to WCW. He was leaving already and WWE could do anything about it. But WWE had to protect their business and Vince had to get the title from him. If I was Vince, I would have done the same thing. Yes, I know that may be harsh but I would protect my business too. To tell you the truth, I don't see why Bret would be mad at Vince. I mean he had to protect his business and Bret shouldn't have the title if he is leaving. He got mad at McMahon because he lost unfairly against Shawn Michaels. On Bret's half, I wouldn't want to lose unfairly and have Vince do that to me, but you can't really say he lost unfairly.
The main point is Bret is "The best there is, the best there was, and the best there will ever be". I take that to some extent but I don't think he is THE BEST. He was the best of his time but not the best ever. He did have it all though. He had the wrestling ability, the charisma, the character, the strength, and the endurance. He was the perfect wrestler and I loved his work even though I haven't seen him wrestle much.
Like I said, I don't blame him for leaving WCW as it's his life and he saw what could have been a better business for him. I don't think he should be mad at WWE or Vince anymore. That was the past and I think if that never would have happened, you knows how big WWE would be now and how it would have changed WWE's foundation. Bottom line, Bret is a legend of the business and I only wish he comes back, I don't think he will, or wrestled just a bit longer.
And today I am talking about The Undertaker. Is The Undertaker one of the best wrestlers in history or is he just here to have fans buy tickets?
I have a lot of things about The Undertaker so let me get started. The Undertaker IS one of the best in wrestling history. No matter if you love him or hate him, you have to say he is one of the best and that is a FACT! I respect The Undertaker so much. He has done so many things for and in the WWE. Really, what he done is unmatchable. And that is final. I have the "Tombstone" DVD which highlights The Undertaker's historic career. If you don't have this DVD, you NEED to get it. I saw some of the best matches The Undertaker put on. I think everyone should thank WWE for actually making a character like The Undertaker. Without the character, who knows where WWE would be at. They could either be still standing but less popular or not even in business now. Could anyone really imagine what Taker's career would be like when he first came in? NO!
When The Undertaker came into the WWE, the company was growing faster than ever before. Coming in the 1980's, really helped the business. In less than a year, he became a main event star. That is how good he is. In The Undertaker's entire career, we saw multiple personalities from The Undertaker. We seen him as the deadman, American bad @ss, and Ministry. Personally, I love the Ministry look the best. When Undertaker had the Ministry of the darkness, that really ran wild. Also, when taker had the Brothers of Destruction, it really showed how taker was in a tag team. Kane and taker were great together. Not only is taker a great single competitor but also a tag team competitor. The Undertaker's whole career is so historic and long that it would take a whole book to tell it from beginning to end. Not only is taker known as the deadman, but he is also known for several matches. He is known for the buried alive match, the inferno match (maybe), the casket match, and the Hell in the Cell match. The reason why I said maybe for the inferno match is because it could be Kane's match, but it could be argued both ways. Anyway, I like all of those matches, but I like the Hell in the Cell match the best.
I can't believe taker's career is still going. If you look at what he has been through and how long he has done it, he should be retired. 18+ years is very hard to do. I know he hasn't been here for all of those years as he went out from injuries and also taking a break. I really would like to see Taker have a major championship before he retires. I know he would win another major title again, but I would like to see more than one title reign for him. I know his time is coming to an end, but he still has a couple more years that he will give.
If The Undertaker leaves right now, I wouldn't be mad. I would be upset but not mad. Taker has done so much for the WWE, that he has nothing else to prove. He has done it all. Taker has given up so much for the WWE fans that he should have his time now. I am not saying that I want him to leave, as I NEVER want that to happen, but we should think about the stars sometimes instead of us getting entertainment. I do feel sorry for The Undertaker as he didn't win that many major titles. Taker only one a hand full of them. If you look Batista almost beats his record and so does Cena. WWE should have had Taker win more world and WWE titles as I think he deserves it.
When I hear The Undertaker, I think of one thing. GREATNESS! Taker has greatness. I think he is one of the best performers of all time. If you read "My thoughts on Edge", you know that I think Edge is the greatest performer of all time. The second spot would be a tie. It could either be Mick Foley or The Undertaker. The Undertaker is also undefeated at Wrestlemaina. If you don't think he is good, just look at that. I know all of the matches are scripted, but if you have 18 and 0 at Wrestlemania, that character means something. The Undertaker will never lose at Wrestlemania as that would be his legacy right there.
The Undertaker is one of the most known stars in wrestling history. He has accomplished so much in his career, that it is hard to forget. When he retires, I know no one will ever forget him. Someone told me on here that RVD is better than taker. Really, that makes no sense as RVD doesn't even match what Taker has done. Taker will be a future hall of famer someday, I guarantee it. The Undertaker is one of my favorites and I will forever remember his greatness. That is all for "my thoughts" for now but please check back to my others and wait to see my others coming soon. If you have any suggestions for a future "My thoughts" blog, then feel free to message me. Anyway that is my thoughts on this topic, but what are yours? Talk to you next time!
