Here is an exclusive installment of "my thoughts". And today I am talking about Jeff Hardy's title win. Now many people might not like this blog post for what I have to say. Well I am going to start from the beginning.
Jeff has been in the WWE for many, many years. He hasn't been in the WWE his whole life as you know. Long story short, he got released and went to TNA. Jeff came back in 2006 and got a huge crowd. His popularity rose greatly. Now over those years, many people wanted him to be a major champion, and to refresh all of your minds, my major championships are the WWE, World title, and the ECW world title. But in those times, he got suspended twice. He came on Smackdown and his career certainly changed. I think since he came to Smackdown, he got better and bigger. He is now ONE of the biggest stars on Smackdown. Jeff had major title shots several times. Not in the past years, but in this year. I can think of numerous times that he was fighting for the #1 contender's spot and when he actually faced the champion. I know last year, as I went to Armageddon, he was in a #1 contender's match for the WWE title. It was Jeff vs. HHH. As you can think, HHH won the match and Jeff lost another opportunity. Jeff faced against the WWE champion so many times this past year and lost them all. BUT, that was all going to change.
The date of December 14, 2008 will be put in the wrestling history books forever. That date will be remembered as Jeff Hardy won the WWE championship, his first major championship. Now I am a fan of Jeff, I absolutely love his wrestling skills. I love, I crave, his high flying moves. I respect him deeply but I don't think he deserves the title just yet. Now let me explain.
This past year, Jeff had countless times that he could have won the WWE title. Now I know it's all scripted but it really doesn't make sense. Do you see a star that lost all of his title opportunities and then they get another shot and win? No you don't! Yes, I have to say that HHH may get a lot of title shots, Cena may get a lot of title shots but truly, they sometimes don't deserve it. In my mind, a star that deserves a title shot has to WIN his matches. Jeff has won his matches recently, against The Undertaker and The Brian Kendrick but he lost all of his title matches. Next, Jeff has been suspended twice this year. I think the first one was January, and the other I know was in March. He got suspended right before Wrestlemania. I know no star wants to miss Wrestlemania but Jeff missed it and he even had a match. I do think he would have won the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Missing it by being suspended for something that you did is not professional. I don't even know what was going through Jeff's mind as he probably knew he might get caught. Many people say that was 8 months ago and it's over with but it doesn't matter. Lengths don't count for wrestling, unless it's a title reign. No one looks how long he has been suspended, how long his last suspended was, it matters if he was suspended and that is final. Jeff, to me, is very unprofessional and should be doing the right thing. He has fans that follow him and he should acknowledge it.
One of the main reasons that the WWE didn't make Jeff champion earlier is because they didn't depend on him, and either did I. WWE needed to know that Jeff is responsible and he won't do it again. I still think the WWE shouldn't have given him the title. I think he should have won it in early 2009. Jeff has proven to me that he can keep his word but I still don't trust him. This title reign, this time frame in his career, will make or break him. He can successfully defend his title every time the WWE makes him and has a great title reign with no marks on his career. Or it could break him as I think the WWE will check him in about a month to see if he is on anything. And if he is, he will be FIRED and it will ruin, crush, and sullied.
I think that Matt is better than Jeff. Jeff is better at hig flying but Matt is professional and is comitted to his career. I would trust the World title with Matt more than Jeff. I am glad that both are champions though but i think Matt deserves more if the WWE gives him an oppurtunity.
See Edge deserves the main event spot and world title matches since he stayed in the WWE, has no marks, and has proven himself. Jeff is the exact opposite. Despite my words, I am hoping that Jeff will surmount this time in his career. If this works, his career will be on the rebound and be better than ever! I may not like his title win, but I have to congratulate him. I know this title reign will be very, very interesting! That is all for "my thoughts" for now but please check back to my others and wait to see my others coming soon.
