Remember Bernard Hopkins' "I will never lose to a white boy" comments at the weigh in for Hatton/Mayweather?

Showman: Bernard Hopkins
Was Hopkins just being a showman, trying to generate widespread media interest in a fight with Joe Calzaghe (remember it had not been made at that point although both men had been calling out each other's name) or had Hopkins just spat out a racist slur?
Read my interview with Hopkins online today as he explains what was behind his comments. I buy what he says in the interview, and his background but inadvertent or not, I think it could amount to racism.
If it had been the other way round, I believe Calzaghe would have been punished by the sanctioning body of the British Boxing Board of Control.
Should Hopkins have been punished? Or will Calzaghe punish him in the ring?

Wise, is the man who knows what not to say, and when not to say it. There would not be enough jails to hold us all if we spoke what we really thought. But it doesnt stop us thinking it. A long time ago I came to the conclusion that the people that see racism in every thing, are the only real racist!.
