    TNA in London

Monday, June 16, 2008, 05:24 AM EST [General]

    Hi All,

I had the oppotunity to attend the TNA house show yesterday evening. This was TNA's first outing to the UK and from what I saw the fans loved it.

I'm not a massive TNA fan, have checked it out once or twice but was not impressed with the mediocre product and the way the storylines are portrayed on TV. Alot of the time I feel as though they are covering old storylines from WWE!!

However I tonight there were no storylines just pure wrestling.....And you know what I loved it.

The show started with Jeremy Borash coming out and hyping up the sold out crowd, they didn't need the help as the fans were buzzing from the prospect of seeing AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle in person. Thought it got a bit cheap when JB started handing out backstage passes to loudest fans....a great ploy to keep the crowd cheering but still cheap!

Then we got to the opener The Motor city Machine guns vs Sonjay dutt and Petey Williams. WWE Take note here....The Machine Guns are what Tag wrestling is all about. The closest thing WWE have to these guys is the Hardy's and I would have to say that the Team of Shelly and Sabin would give them a run for there money. The team work between Sabin and Shelly was amazing and there ring work was flawless. I couldn't begin to describe some of the lightning paced double team moves I saw.....however they were impressive.

Petey williams and Sonjay went over for the faces in the end and for an opener the crow was buzzing!

I miss the Tag team matches of old, it's an area I feel WWE has lost massive focus. Also some of the best Single wrestlers in WWE have come from Tag Teams. Where WWE are dropping the ball this is an area where TNA are picking it up and delivering....

Next up Gail Kim Vs Awsome Kong for the TNA Womens Champ.

Gail Kim worked a great match and put in some high flying moves inc a Crossbody to kong from the top rop to the floor. It was a bit of sqaush match but still more entertaining than some of the womens matches in the WWE as of late. Although saying that the recent matches with Mickey James and Beth have spiced the womesn division up a little.

LAX vs James Storm and Robert Roode - Entertaining match again.

Next up was the guy I was waiting to see AJ Styles. He featured in a 3 way match against Black Machismo (Cheap rip off for Savage but very funny he has the expression down to a tee) and Doug william (Uk Wrestler)

Some great spots here and AJ lived up to his reputation and the "Phemomenal One". He hit all his trade marks and got the win with his finsher which got a big pop from the local crowd. Doug williams hit an awesome roll up german suplex combo....on the savage wannabe!

WWE listen up......Go get AJ Styles.....you want good talent that work there butts off to put money in your pockets, well this is your man. He is the total package!

Now after this is where it got a bit crappy.

Angle was injured still so he come and and delivered an emotional fueled speech (had to mention WWE as he is still bitter at vince fireing his ass) although the "WHAT" chants made him laugh.

Then we got Dixie Carter who came and thanked the fans....she is hot milf!

    The final 2 matches were:

Rhino vs Booker - worked the crowd well but very boring and I was really surprised at Rhino limited amount of moves......I know why he got released  now as punch, punch, punch, Clothesline, Gore does not justify the wages he was getting paid in WWE. I was also surprised at how these 2 veterans botched so many moves especially considering how much they had worked together in the past.

    Samoa Joe Vs Abyss -

Now I wanted to see if all the hype surrounding Joe was true.

Glad to say it was, however he didn't set the house on fire with his offensive range, No submission finish or Muscle buster (this was obvious as soon as Abyss was announced as his opponent) Joe hit some great suplex's and some hardcore moves to the outside. For a guy of his size he was quick on his feet.

He works hard and has a great arrogance about him that make you love to hate him (I'd compare it to the rock when he was in the Nation) The finish was sloppy and dissapointing with Abyss disposing of the refs and then trying to take out joe with the title. Joe applied a big boot to the approaching Abyss and got the 3 count from recovering hebner.

I forgot to mention hebner got the biggest heat of the night...."you screwed bret" follows him everywhere!

All in all for a two and half hour show I thought it was value for money.

I think TNA has some great talent that works for the fans and appriciates it's fan base alot. However they need to refine certian area's like storylines and singles matches.

The sucsess of the tour was evident when dixie announced that they will be retuning to England in January  at larger venues inc Wembley Arena.

This is Ron Burgundy Signing out, you stay Classy Wherever you are!

    Hi there,

Yes I do agree what has happened to the Tag teams and some of the best wrestlers have evolved from tag teams. WWE does need to address this.
