- TMZ.COM is running a story about WWE's lawyers sending a cease and desist
letter addressed to CMT, Eric Bischoff and Bischoff/Hervey Entertainment
regarding the use of Ed Leslie's character 'Brutus The Barber Beefcake'
being used on Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling saying that WWE
owns the trademark for the character and Leslie has no right to use it. WWE
filed the letter on October 27 with CMT's legal department responding on
November 7. "The facts clearly show that WWE possesses no trademark rights
in 'Brutus the Barber Beefcake'. At one point in time, WWE's predecessor,
Titan Sports, Inc., may have possessed certain trademark rights in 'Brutus
the Barber Beefcake,' but any rights your client may have had were
abandoned, either expressly or as a matter of law," read part of the
response from CMT's legal department. The letter also points to other facts,
noting that Leslie has been using the name since 2000 and WWE never did
anything about it even though they knew he was using the name to wrestle in
independent shows. You can read WWE's letter as well as the response from
CMT at http://www.aolcdn.com/tmz_documents/1120_hogans2_wm.pdf . Brutus
Beefcake appeared on Friday's show on Ringside Live to discuss the Hogan CCW
show as well as his career and when asked if he would return to WWE if asked
he clearly stated that he has no interest in doing business with the company
again. I guess now we know why!
WWE WANTS BEEFCAKE TO STOP USING THE NAME
IS HARDY GOING TO BE TAKEN OUT OF TONIGHT'S MATCH?
- WWE.COM reported earlier today that Jeff Hardy was found unconscious in a
stairwell at his hotel in Boston and was transported to a nearby hospital.
Another update posted just a few ago on the website said that the former IC
champion has been released from the hospital and WWE Senior Vice President
of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis is "investigating" the story. Hardy is
scheduled to be fighting Triple H and Vladimir Kozlov in tonight's WWE
Heavyweight triple threat match at the Survivor Series. The story is an
angle and Hardy wasn't really sent to a hospital and it could be a way to
get him out of the title match leaving the match to a one-on-one with HHH
DIVORCE BETWEEN KURT AND KAREN ANGLE FINALIZED
- Kurt Angle's divorce from his now-ex wife Karen became final on October
26. The duo originally got married on December 19, 1998. Together they have
two kids, Kyra who was born in December 2002 and Kody who was born in
October 2006, on the same day that their divorce got finalized. How's that
for a coincidence! The former TNA Knockout recently appeared on the Bubba
The Love Sponge radio show and confirmed the news herself. The Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette also issued a notice in one of their issues last week about the
divorce.
WWE HEADING TO IRAQ FOR SIXTH TRIBUTE TO THE TROOPS SHOW
- A select number of WWE Superstars and crew will be heading to Baghdad,
Iraq, in the beginning of next month to tape the Tribute to the Troops
Christmas edition of Monday Night RAW. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon revealed
this during an interview with website Zap2It.com while talking about RAW's
800th show celebration which airs tomorrow. "We go to all the FOBs [Forward
Operating Bases] where nobody goes. It's really cool to see the looks on the
men's and women's faces when they see a touch of Americana. We actually get
more out of it, I think, than the troops do," he said. "The feedback you get
is enormous. They so much appreciate any slice of Americana. It's really all
about the troops. It's not about us. The matches and so forth are OK, but
it's really about messaging and communication." The exact dates and
locations which will be visited by the WWE crew are not advertised prior to
actually going to Iraq due to security issues. This year's show will not be
airing on USA Network as in the past but it will air on NBC.
TRIPLE H DESCRIBES WWE AS CENA'S WIFE, KIDS AND LIFE!
- In a recent interview with the Herald Sun newspaper in Australia, current
WWE champion Triple H said that WWE is John Cena's life. "This is his life,
this is his wife, this is his kids. This is everything he is," The Game said
when explaining Cena's commitment to the company. When Cena was asked to
comment about those words, the former champ was careful in his reply.
"Coming from one of my peers, it could be taken two ways," he said. He noted
that Triple H is pretty much correct to a certain extent. "I don't have a
wife, I don't have kids and I certainly travel 300 days a year. So, well
said, Triple H," added Cena. While Triple H and John Cena - two of the
biggest stars in the company - are not best of friends, the two have always
clicked together when it came to putting on incredible matches and doing
what's best for the company.
