To quote from Matt Striker, your WWE teacher, "It is time for a history lesson."
In 1994, Michael Fay, an 18-year-old American citizen was tried and convicted of vandalism in Singapore. His sentence was to be publicly caned with a Singapore cane. This act gained much outrage in the United States and grabbed national headlines.
What resulted from that incident was the first-ever Singapore Cane Match, meaning the loser of the match had to be publicly caned between The Sandman vs. Tommy Dreamer. The result was I took 10 lashes (I actually took 12, Michael Fay only had to get four). The end result was how much it hurt, but my hardcore legacy began to grow.
At that time this also put ECW on the map and the company that was counterculture and hip to the new trends started to grow due to its rebellious nature.
You see, ECW was all about revolution and change. I was the leader of that rebellion. Now, with ECW being part of WWE, there is no reason for a revolution, but that doesn't mean I am not still a rebel. I still want what is best for ECW and a lot of times I feel I get stopped in my effort — but I keep on fighting and trying.
In two weeks, I, Tommy Dreamer, am going to give my uncensored opinion of the state of ECW and my own career. To quote Y2J Chris Jericho, I am going to “break the walls down.” Actually, if there is a line to cross, I will cross it.
The walls will be destroyed from their foundation. Make sure you tell your friends to read this and prepare to watch history be made again.
Thanks for reading.
