    Quick Smackdown Thoughts

Monday, October 20, 2008, 11:16 AM EST [General]

Hey Guys and welcome to a very quick Smackdown review column, i wasnt able to post over the weekend because of other things that were going on!

Anyway i want to start with the start of Smackdown, The Big Show's promo for me was poor and you could tell the crowd were not into it, it was ok to announce the 3 match stipulations for his match at Cyber Sunday against The Undertaker, by the way i am hoping for an I Quit match, as i would like to hear one of those participants say I Quit as that has never been heard of in regards to these two participants- the only thing that would have made this opening segment good would have been if Chavo Guerrero done something to annoy Show and to let the fans know he is annoyed with the treatment he has been recieving, i think a Chavo face turn is in the reckoning.

We saw a quick but veryy good Tag Team title match between Primo and Carlito and Hawkins and Ryder- i like this team with Carlito and Primo they bring so much to the tag team division, they picked a good win here, i would also like to see Hawkins and Ryder be given more exposure, maybe a lot more mic work, these two guys have got talent but i just dont think they are being used properly.

It looks like Funaki is now Kung-FU Naki- funny stuff!

Mvp and R-Truth put on a solid match, once again Mvp lost his match- i am just awaiting Gregroy Helms to appear to start a fued with MVP- Helms return to Smackdown is due very soon and i think MVP and Helms will put on a really good feud if it happens- my only complaint about this one was that Shelton Benjamin didn't make an appearance to continue his fued with R-Truth- Banjamin is the US champion and he hasnt even won a match in weeks, WWE need to give this guy more in-ring time and also i would hope very quickly this US Title match happens between R-Truth and Benjamin- WWE should give us a match on PPV- i am totally suprised nothing has been announced for these two at Cyber Sunday.

I loved that Maria won the Divas pole match, it's about time she got a push and got involved in the Diva's title picture- Maria v Michelle will be a good match- i also liked their confrontation backstage-McCool for me hasn't been booked good at all by creative since winning the title- so hopefully this fued with Maria can help her elavate herself and bring some much needed credibility to the title.

Is Maria going to go out with Festus?- interesting and humerous stuff.

Next up we had Undertaker in action on Smackdown, good to see the Dead Man finally competing on Smackdown its the first time he has competed on Smackdown since his 'banishment' in the summer- anyway he took on The Great Khali who is ready to definetly turn face which is a good thing, the match ended in a no contest with Big Show interfering, delivering a chokeslam to Taker then Taker got the upper hand hitting Show with a chair-this fued is beginning to get a lot better- and i am looking foward to the battle at Cyber Sunday between the two.

And finally we had a quick main event with Kozlov defeating Jeff Hardy in a decent contest-Kozlov picked up the win and him and Triple H had a stare down as the show went off the air, this ending was a teaser to try and get the fans to vote for HHH to battle Kozlov at Cyber Sunday, i am still not sure what the fans will vote for, ideally we would like a HHH v Hardy match again as you cant see Hardy losing to the game at 2 consecutive ppv's- but i wouldnt mind a triple threat match- anyway was a good ending.

Next week we have HHH v The Undertaker- i am looking foward to it but i guarentee the match will last at least 10mins and it will end with interference.

Overall another decent Smackdown which i would give a 7.5 out of 10.

As also i would like your thoughts on this blog either via WWE Universe or leave me an email at Sevillecfc@aol.com

    Until next time

    Raw Review- Comedy Central !

Tuesday, October 14, 2008, 12:44 PM EST [General]

Hey guys and welcome to another Raw Review, last night's Raw came from Anahiem California and as always that arena is always packed and it's noisy and it made a good atmosphere for Raw last night, anyway lets get down to the action or should i say comedy action.

Raw kicked off with Adamle and Jericho in the back,Jericho is angry that their will be a special referee at Cyber Sunday in his World Title match, he demands Adamle changes the referee stipulation or he will call Shane or Stephanie McMahon to change the match-Adamle was good here probably because it was a pre-recorded segment but he won me over with his actions by telling Jericho that nothing could be done about the match stipulation and that tonight Jericho would pick an opponent for Batista and Batista will pick an opponent for Jericho- this led to Jericho making his way out to the ring moaning and complaining to Shane or Stephanie that he is being treated terribly as a champion and that everyone is bias against him- Jericho on the mic once again was great hear, the amount of crowd heat he received was terrific and with WWE turning this guy heel over the summer it has worked wonders for Jericho's career and he can only go from strenght to strenght- Jericho went on to talk trash about all the guys who could be referee in his match at Cyber Sunday and how he has history with all of them and they could all cost him his title, this led to HBK coming out to confront Jericho and HBK made it clear that if he is the special referee at Cyber Sunday he would love nothing more to make Jericho's night the worst in his life and cost him his title, these two are still producing quality in this on-off fued which we are seeing between the two, this then led to HBK knocking out Jericho and Jericho then telling HBK that he would be the man to face Batista later on in the night- great opening segment here- worked well and HBK and Jericho's interaction was excellent.

Next up we had a return tag team match from last week's show between Rey Mysterio and Matt Hardy v Kane and Mark Henry- by the way has anyone noticed that Kane no longer does the lifting up the arms thing and the fire comes out from the ring posts thing?- well he hasn't done it for months now so that part of his gimmick may be over- anyway another decent bout here between the 4 with Kane once again getting the pinfall against his arch nemesis Rey Mysterio- so it will be another match between these two at the PPV in 2 weeks- last night i liked how Kane got the upper hand for a moment then Rey got the final blow on Kane- i like this fued and i hope we see a good match at Cyber Sunday- i would like to see a falls count anywhere match between the two- by the way Matt Hardy and Henry's fued looks like continuing too, WWE are definetly giving this fued a lot of time and ill be honest with you i am all for it as it has worked well.

Now i started off this coumn with the word comedy Raw last night had so much comedy on it and it all began with Hass Hogan v JBL- Haas once again was hilarious what a transformation in popularity for this guy in recent weeks, i loved his impression of Hogan and i am just looking foward to see who he portrays next- anyway JBL defeated Haas Hogan with a clothesline from hell but overall a funny segment- but the question is where does JBL go from here?- ill get on to that question in a moment.

Last night Raw had probably one of it's longest matches in months, the lumberjack match between HBK and Batista- both men worked their ass of in this one and it was back and forth action most of the time but Batista probably had the most advantage throughout the match- i enjoyed all the heel lumberjacks at ringside and in particular Mark Henry and JBL, both had good exposure in this match-the match ended in a NO CONTEST as all the lumberjacks got involved,JBL ended up tasting sweet chin music from Michaels and Henry got speared by Batista- after the match HBK and Batista shook hands to show respect- anyway what i think might happen now is that JBL will go after HBK for the sweet chin music he got last night so this could be another feud about to happen- we all know JBL will job again but who knows it may be enjoyable- anyway great match and it brought a lot to the show.

Now the 2nd comedy segment of the night happened between ****, Santino Marella, Beth Phoenix,HORNSWOGGLE!- BIG **** JOHNSON and Yes the return of THE BOOGEYMAN- and lets not forget The GREAT KHALI-now it all began with Santino once again being funny on the mic i liked when he said Goldendust instead of Goldust- he went on to discuss his title match at the PPV then invited Johnny Knoxville into the ring where Knoxville abused Beth Phoenix- Pheonix then gave Knoxville a botched bodyslam then they both left, this led to Hornswoggle making a surprise appereance and he gave Knoxville the tadpole splash, then we had an apperance from Big **** Johnson aint seen him in a while, this was funny and then Boogeyman arrived and took out Knoxville's sidekick and fed him worms- i thought this all played out superbly-great comedy- then KHALI came out and put the Vise Grip on Knoxville then a huge slam where Knoxville must have took a sore one as his head hit the canvas hard first- Overall a really good fun segment which we havent seen on Raw for a long time-Knoxville must have been paid a lot of dollars for this appearance but it was good television- I also want Khali to turn FACE and i have said in my last couple of columns it will work wonders for him.

We then had a quick intergender tag team match between The Miz and Morrison and Jillian v Cryme Tyme and Kelly Kelly- glad to finally see Cryme Tyme get the win here, it's about time- Kelly Kelly once again for me in the ring was excellent and i think she deserves a title shot again Phoenix soon, maybe it's even time to give her a run with the title.

And finally the MAIN EVENT it was CM Punk v Chris Jericho and Batista was the special referee this match also had comedy in it with Batista smiling throughout the match, wearing a referee's shirt that didnt fit him- it was all funny, anyway this was a really good match, Punk and Jericho always work well together, CM Punk picked up the win after Batista powerbombed Jericho- this was good to continue Batista's and Jericho's feud as it's playing out strongly- the only downfall about this segment was that CM Punk looked extremely weak with  the way he was given the match to win-Jericho basically had him beat then Big Dave wouldnt count then he was bailed out after Batista's powerbomb, i hope Punk get back into a fued soon hopefully with Orton to get this guy really going again, i may sound nasty toward creative here even though Punk won last night but he should be given the chance to win in a much better way that what we saw last night.

Overall a good Raw last night i would give it a strong 7.5 out of 10- as always i would like your opinions on this column either through WWE UNIVERSE or send me an email to SevilleCFC@aol.com and i will be back with my Smackdown Column on Saturday!

    Smackdown Thoughts- The Enigma Re-fuels

Saturday, October 11, 2008, 07:39 AM EST [General]

Hey Guys and welcome to another Smackdown Review!- i really enjoyed last night's show- i always look foward to Smackdown more than i do Raw now as thier is so much more wrestling in the show and in my opinion more entertaining characters.

Anyway i am going to start with the only bit i didnt like about last night's show and that was the opening segment with Vicki Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero and Big Show and also a late appearance by Kozlov who was all over the show last night- anyway we got Vicki who is once again in her wheelchair and neckbrace, scenes we have seen all before(boring) she said the same stuff that she said the last time Undertaker tombstoned her and i thought it was just a poor promo-Big Show then came out and boasted about knocking out Taker and then Kozlov interupted to confirm he would challenge the winner of Show's and HHH title match later on in the night- the only good thing i enjoyed about this angle was Chavo Guerrero's sarcastic clap when Big Show came out to the ring, i sense a face turn for Chavo very soon and i do think a face turn would help Chavo's character a lot and get him going again, the guy is talented and deserves better.

Next up we have Natalyia v Bria Bella- now it was good to see Nataylia in a one on one match on Smackdown! you don't see that often- but i was disappointed she lost, she is a member of the Hart family and at this moment in time she shouldn't have to job to Bria- now this Bria- twin sister thing is getting tiring, everbody knows what is going on and the WWE are keeping this going for far too long, end this quick and get her sister revealed as soon as possible- i did like Hornswoggle's appearance though.

Anyway that's the bad points of last night's show off my chest and ill now get to the good points of the show- R-Truth's segment with Funaki was very funny- i enjoyed this comedy segment- good to see Funaki on Smackdown not seen him in a while- people do not realise but Funaki has been with WWE for over 10 years now!-i was just thinking as well remember Smackdown used to be the show where we saw cruiserwieght action- you just do not get that anymore in WWE its a shame as their is so much talent in the cruiserweight division.

R-Truth v Shelton Benjamin was a good match-R-truth picks up the win again and surely a US Title match between the two will happen maybe at Cyber Sunday this is a good fued going here and i am enjoying it.

Jeff Hardy once again bounced back with another impressive win against the under performing MVP- Hardy once again was on fire and once again MVP lost- the fall out he had with management with his urine test is really affecting him- he was going well on Smackdown until the draft and i am sure his doghouse reputation will end soon and he will get back on track- i sense a fued with Gregory Helms will  happen with MVP soon- i think these two would work well together and i am looking foward to Helm's return and no doubt Helm's will be a babyface- anyway Hardy was once again attacked by Kozlov post match and these two will battle it out next week on Smackdown!- i also think that at Cyber Sunday the fans will vote for a triple threat match for the WWE Championship.

Next up we had a quick 8 man tag with Jesse/Festus, Carlito/Primo against Hawkins/Ryder Braddock/Dykstra- this was a match to prove to all that Smackdown is the number 1 brand when it comes to Tag Team wrestling their is so many good tag teams on Smackdown and seeing them all used last night was good-Festus the powerhouse picked up the win for his team to prove once again that this guy is a dominant powerhouse- i  heard during the week their that the WWE is considering turning Festus heel with Jessie as his heel mouthpiece-if this does happen i think this could be very interesting- watch this space-a heel Festus could make this guy into a main player on Smackdown!

Next up we had another entertaining segment with THE GREAT KHALI as the weeks progress and you see this guy smile i think a babyface turn would be great for this GIANT i think the crowd would take to him if he was battling the heel competitors- anyway we had another Khali squash and another Khali snog fest- entertaining and enjoyable and i am looking foward to Raw to see how him and Johnny Knoxville get on.

Last up was our main event for the WWE Title between Triple H and Big Show- this was s short but decent title match- The Big Show dominated throughout and when he was about to provide the final knockout The Undertaker arrived on the scene and started beating the hell out of Big Show ending the match in a no contest-Taker and Show's fued just stepped up a gear here and it was good to see these two going at it on Smackdown for a change- this means now that Taker will no doubt battle Big Show at Cyber Sunday in some sort of gimmick match the fans will vote for.

Smackdown then ended with Kozlov, Hardy and Triple H -with Hardy getting the upper hand on both men- another twist of fate for the Game from Hardy- how long will Triple H now last before snapping on Hardy- Triple H wants to turn heel and this maybe the perfect opportunity for this to happen sooner rather than later?- who knows?

Anyway i enjoyed Smackdown this week and it is without a doubt The NO1 brand in the WWE by miles

Overall i would give Smackdown a solid 7.5 out of 10

    Raw Review- Animal Unleashed!

Wednesday, October 8, 2008, 03:10 PM EST [General]

Hey Guys and welcome to another Raw Review 24 hours after a decent No Mercy PPV where Triple H, Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels stole the show and those 4 guys certainly earned their paychecks for their outstanding performances last sunday evening.

Anyway Raw came live from a hot Seattle Washington  and the show kicked off with the World Champion Chris Jericho, this heel Jericho is absolute class, his walk to the ring, his facial reactions the lines he speaks when he is on the mic- this is what you call a true heel who you love to hate!- i loved this opening segment with Jericho bashing the crowd and saying Michaels did indeed disfigure him but he is still better than Shawn Michaels and that he is still the World Champion- this was a great way to draw tremendous heat from the Seattle crowd and by heck it worked- it led to Jericho saying that he has now finished with Michaels and if that is the case i want to congratulate both men on one of the best feuds i have seen in years! anyway Jericho went on to say that he is in charge tonight as Adamly is away on business and that he is ordering Shawn Michaels to take on Lance Cade in a NO DQ match later on in the evening- this then led to the ANIMAL making his way out to the ring, i have to say i am very impressed with Batista at the moment he is working his ass off i believe, and he is indeed the No1 face on Raw at the moment- anyway Batista came out to confirm to Jericho that he was the NO1 contender and he wanted to know when the match would happen, Jericho said he was hurt but that wouldnt stop him beating Batista- this led to good mic interaction between the two and a big spine buster from Batista to Jericho to kick off this fued which will lead into the World Title match between the two at Cyber Sunday- great opening segment and it hots things up for their title match in a few weeks- during the break Jericho announced that Batista would wrestle JBL in a No1 contenders re match and that he would be the special referee.

Next up Santino and Beth v Mickie James and Jamie Noble, once again Santino was magnificent on the mic, he is so funny with his idiotic lines and reactions and WWE creative have made him a pleasure to watch, anyway this match was far to quick- not enough in ring action, Santino picked up the win with a roll up, 2 victories in a row for Santino on back to back shows where he has wrestled that must be a record!- the only down point with this segment was Regal and Noble, what else can these two guys do, its the same boring stuff every week with Regal sitting in that chair and either a stare down or an attack takes place, please WWE creative either move these two on, or do something else or let them wrestle at a PPV or give them a long tv time match.

CM Punk- now heres a guy who was Raw's world champion a few weeks ago and on Raw Monday he was given at least 3 minutes of tv to do nothing apart from clothesline Cody Rhodes, basically this week Punk had no tv time and no exposure that is making him look extremely weak- Why not let Orton make an appearance of are the WWE going in a different direction for Orton, will Orton be turning face?- Is Punk and Orton's fued not going happen? I seriously hope not as Punk needs a new hot program to get him going again and i hope he gets is soon.

Ted Diabese beat Kofi Kingston in a decent bout, nothing more i can really say on this one apart from Kofi needs to get a good win under his belt as ever since he lost the IC Title, creative have done nothing to help his character at all.

Next up we have a good tag team battle with Kane and Mark Henry defeating Rey Mysterio and Matt Hardy- was good to see Matt Hardy on Raw but once again Matt Hardy was pinned again by the big fish on the Raw Roster, he was pinned by Triple H last week on Smackdown and Kane pinned him on Monday-i feel sorry for Matt having to job all the time last year on Smackdown he was on fire and i really thought he was a creditable contender for the World Championship but that seems a long way away now- anyway Kane and Rey look like their fued is continuing but i am not sure what direction it will take- should be interesting though.

Now Why is the Great Khali on Raw?, when he is a Smackdown superstar their has been absolutely no correspondance on this issue even though he works on the blue brand and he's been on Raw 2 weeks in a row- anyway Khali has called Johnny Knoxville to come to Raw next week to show how Khali can be entertaining- should be fun to watch- i liked Khali kissing Lilian Garcia it was hilarious, by the way i would love to see a Khali face turn i think it would work wonders for the big man! and i think the audience would take to him.

Kelly Kelly beat Jillian in a match i didnt care about as it was only their to continue Cryme Tyme's fued with Miz and Morrison their arguing all through commentary was funny at first but i started to get annoyed with it, anyway Kelly picks up another win- this blonde beauty surely should be a contender to be your next WWE womans champion.

Jerry Lawler also announced that at Cyber Sunday, Santino will defend the IC Title against either Goldust, Roddy Piper or HONKY TONK MAN!!!!- Surely the WWE wont let Honky win the title if he's voted in!!! lol(this could really happen folks as anything can happen when Santino's involved and anything can happen in the WWE)

HBK demolished Lance Cade in the NO DQ match with countless chair shots- i wonder where HBK will go from here his character and his facial reactions are great and i am looking foward to him moving on to a fresh fued- thats if him and Jericho aren't over yet?.

Next up we had a decent main event match with Batista overcoming the odds and defeating a absolute nobody in JBL(he really is now becoming the next Snitsky)- Batista had to deal with a bias referee in Chris Jericho and William Regal as the time keeper, Orton was on commentary but he didnt do anything really eventful- anyway Adamly returned at the end of the show and told another referee to get to the ring and he counted JBL shoulders to the mat 1,2 3 and Batista is now OFFICIALLY the number 1 contender and will go to Cyber Sunday to face Jericho, Adamly then announced that their will a special referee either Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels or Steve Austin- no doubt we will see the Rattlesnake in the ring as referee at Cyber Sunday- last year he refereed Batista's match with The Undertaker and he won can it be 2nd time luck for the Animal this year?

Anyway was a decent Raw i would give it a 6/10

As always guys i would like your opinions on this blog by either contacting me via WWE Universe or sending me an email to Sevillecfc@aol.com

    Raw and Smackdown Thoughts

Sunday, October 5, 2008, 10:45 AM EST [General]

Hey guys and welcome to a late edition of my weekley columns regarding last weeks Raw and Smackdown shows- the final shows before tonights No Mercy PPV- I have not been able to write this week because of a  flu virus i have had so i am feeling much better now-anyway let me get on to my thoughts on the two shows this week.

Raw for me was a good show- The DX re-union at the end was nice to see, i think WWE done this to try and improve their ratings as they know how much people liked DX when they were together, although ill be honest with you DX was as its best back in late 1997/1998 and that will never be beaten- anyway we had a short but good tag match with DX V Y2J and Cade- the ladder was used excellent in this segment which made the build up for the World Title match on Sunday even more special-HBK diving off the ladder onto a well beaten Cade was nice to see as well-Overall a really good segment and a really good build up to No Mercy this sunday.

The 8 man tag team match on Raw was special and very entertaining from start to finish- i liked Kane getting the win here and we found out later on in the show that if Kane won which he did then at No Mercy if he beats Rey Mysterio, Rey will have to unmask i really like this angle- but for me it makes the match at No Mercy obvious now as their is no way that Rey will unmask- Rey will get the win here, Rey is a major Babyface to all the young WWE fans and thats what make him even popular with the younger audience and if he did remove his mask it think his popularity with the younger audience would swain as the mask makes Rey Mysterio.

I thought JTG and the Miz put on a decent match on Raw i liked it- my only problem again about this is why are Cryme Tyme jobbing all the time when they are over with the crowd- i just dont get it, hopefully they will start picking up much needed wins very soon.

Once again Santino was hilarious on the mic- loved the start of Raw from start to finish- Batista beating Santino in seconds then JBL attacking Batista post match, but Batista got revenge on JBL later on in the evening, i liked the build up to JBL v Batista last Monday on Raw and the build up to tonight's PPV for this one was good.

Is it me of his Adamly ready so snap into a monstorious heel GM? i reckon it's nearly time to happen

Overall decent Raw great build up to the PPV this sunday a solid 7/10

Onto Smackdown which i will run through the bits i liked on the show- first thing i would like to comment on, is that i watch Smackdown here in the UK and it seemed as if i had more commercial's on last nights edition, does MYNETWORK TV show more commercials than the CW Network? can you let me know if that is the case as i thought their was too many breaks on Smackdown Friday night.

Anyway the 8 man tag to open the show was just like Raw's 8 man match Monday night although this one was way better- great high flying action and near falls in this one and the babyface team got the victory(poor MVP he really is jobbing at the moment) and just 6 months ago i thought he was really going places.

Shelton and R-Truth's confrontations are getting better each week i am looking foward to an upcoming US Title match between the two but i would like to see R-Truth be more serious just like he was in his vignettes before he debut on Smackdown- Santino getting the win over Banjamin was a nice touch as well.

Is Chavo in line for a face turn? with the outcome of last Friday's beating he took from Khali and Henry i sense he could cost Big Show his match Sunday at No Mercy but it may be too early for  this to happen- Taker and Big Show's stare down for me was boring this fued could have been done a whole lot better, i hope Taker's Knee's get better soon as we need him back in action on Smackdown soon.

Good 6 man tag team match with with Punk and the Colon brothers getting the better of Priceless and Manu- Punk is just fitting into to these tag matches while he waits for Orton to make his recovery as these two i believe are going to start a hot program very shortly.

Beth Pheonix defeated Michelle McCool in a good match with a lot of outside interference from Maryse- McCool needs to get a good victory under her belt shortly or her title reign needs to end.

And finally Triple H defeated Matt Hardy and Y2J in a fantastic triple threat match- when was the last time Triple H was actually pinned? it has to be month's ago, correct me if i am wrong people but he hasn't even lost any non title matches or tag matches he has been in- anyway was good to see Jeff getting the better of the Game on Smackdown by delivering the twist of fate but this makes it clearier to me that Triple H now retains at No Mercy- By the way Matt Hardy looked extremely weak in this match he was being beaten by everyone including ladders ect didnt look good for him with the way creative used him here.

I have to say with Smackdown moving to a New Network ending the show in the way they did with Kozlov getting the better of Hardy and Triple H was pointless, this ending has now happened for the last 3 weeks and this was a major disappointment to  see again- with the show Moving to a New Network surely the show could have ended with a bang!

Overall Smackdown get a 7/10 this week.

Anyway i hope you all enjoy No Mercy this Sunday and i would once again like your thoughts on this column by either contacting me on WWE Universe or emailing me at SevilleCFC@aol.com
