Hey Guys and welcome to another Smackdown Review- last night's show was off the charts from start to finish-everything on the show for me ran superbly and i'll now get into it with my thoughts.
Last night the show kicked off with WWE Champion Triple H- I liked this opening segment with the Champion- he looked as if he was pissed off last night and he was- he then went on to bash Vicki Guerrerro calling her a hag lol and so on and he says he doesn't like being told what to do- Triple H was referring to having to face The Undertaker tonight so he could give The Undertaker a bit of beat down to satisfy Vicki before Big Show and Taker collide on Sunday at Cyber Sunday- anyway after all of this Jeff Hardy and Vladimir Kozlov made appearances to stake their claim that they will be WWE Champion after Sunday's PPV- the segment ended with Triple H making a statement by giving Jeff Hardy a pedigree and the Game stating that on Sunday he will walk in and walk out still WWE Champion- good opening segment and good build up for the title match Sunday.
Next up we had a quick diva's tag match with Maryse and Nataylia v Michelle McCool and Maria- this match was to start the build up to the Michelle/Maria fued- during the match Festus came down to the ring offering Maria a rose with a sentimental orchestra behind him, it was like a scene from an Italian movie or something, very cheesy- anyway Michelle went to tag Maria but she was distracted by Festus and Maryse knocked McCool out and picked up a win for her team- a very funny segment and McCool now seems pretty annoyed with Maria as they had another backstage confrontation after the match with McCool telling Maria that she is going to have to focus more when she is in the ring, this has the making of a decent fued- and i also enjoyed Festus, he was entertaining espcially with the costume he had on.
Next up we had a cracking tag team match with Carlito and Primo who once again were so impressive taking on Chavo and Bam Neely- we all knew the outcome of this match from the beginning with The Champs picking up the win, this match was to continue the angle of Bam and Chavo having problems, all through the match both men were arguing with each other, the match ended when Chavo slapped Bam in the face and Carlito hit the backstabber to pick up the win, another very good match and a decent segment, although i thought Chavo was maybe going to turn face shortly but that appears to be scrapped.
Backstage Primo was flirting up Bria and then later he bumped into 'her' again- but this time the other Bria told him to leave her alone and Primo got all confused as she was up for it earlier!- it was a funny segment and a good way to get the Twin Bella angle sorted out!- after this Khali came up to Primo and Carlito and Ranjin Singh told them to watch the the next segment and they will see how a real man can get a woman- it was hilarious!
Next up we had another entertaining segment, The Khali Kiss Cam!- the segment began with Singh reading out fan letters everyone had sent to Khali, Ranjin read out a letter sent from a guy who says he wanted Khali! lol Khali's facial reaction's were funny and he was getting over with the crowd more and more as the segment went on, a Khali chant even started from the crowd to give the big man the confidence to Kiss this large girl who came into the ring- he then kissed the girl again and the crowd in Texas went crazy- another good segment and another good build up to Khali's face turn which has now happened.
We also had a good tag match featuring Mvp teaming up with Shelton Benjamin to take on R-Truth and Kung-Fu-Naki-Funaki has been repackaged and he came out dressed as the Karate Kid-he also impressed in the ring picking up the surprise victory when he hit MVP with a kick to the face and he got the pinfall- Funaki is finally getting a decent push and i am glad to see it- but poor MVP another loss for the ballin superstar- Gregory Helms kept appearing again all night at the side of our tv screens and once again he made fun of MVP- i would love to see a match between Helms and MVP it should interesting- i also find it funny that the announcers never seem to say anything about Helms when his face appears on the screen.
We also had The Brian Kendrick defeating Super Crazy in a squash nothing more to say on this one- I have to say Ezekial Jackson reminds me of Bad News Brown in the WWE in the late 80's early 90's does anyone remember him?- Ezekial sure as hell reminds me of him anyway.
We also during the course of the night had Triple H and Undertaker having a staredown backstage and also Undertaker giving a small promo backstage-saying that tonight him and Triple H will be going to the darkside but will both men leave?
Then we had our MAIN EVENT- The Undertaker v Triple H- i have to say i havent saw these guys compete against one another on tv for at least 6 and half years- if memory serves me right the last match these guys had was back on Raw in 2002 and if Triple H defeated Taker, Taker had to leave Raw and go to Smackdown and thats exactly what happened and The Undertaker has been on Smackdown ever since!- anyway last night we did get a fantastic 20min contest between the two- it was great seeing both guys competing with each other again, the match was great from start to finish with both men using all their in ring repotoires- this has been one of the best matches i have seen in free tv in a long time i have to say- both men worked their socks off- The match ended with Big Show interfering and taking out Undertaker causing a disqualifcation,Show pummeled Taker with right and lefts in the corner, Triple H who had just recovered from a last ride then got a chair and tried to take out Show but Show didnt feel the chair shot and he took The Game out with a powerful chokeslam and then hitting Taker with a few more chair shots before leaving- this made me now believe that Taker will be in a vengeful mood this Sunday at Cyber Sunday- great build up to the PPV here.
We then came back to Triple H who is just trying to pull himself up after the beating he took from Show and Taker and then Kozlov came out and took Triple H out again-the show ended with Kozlov standing over a fallen Triple H- Triple H certainly took a beating last night- so i am certain he will retain his title this Sunday at the PPV against whomever he faces.
Overall a magnificent Smackdown i would give it a 9/10 and i cant wait for the ppv this Sunday!
As always i would like your thoughts on this column via WWE Universe or send me an email at Sevillecfc@aol.com
