There comes a time when enough is enough. On the August 25, 2008 edition of WWE's Monday Night RAW a line was crossed. Over the last week I have reached out to the WWE, Rev. Al Sharpton and a variety of different media outlets. It seems that my efforts fell on deaf ears. The WWE has a history for promoting the outrageous. That’s ok. However when the WWE begins to promote bigotry and racism that is when a line has been crossed. Not only does the WWE not realize what disgust they brought to their audience last week but they completely ignored the fact that impressionable children are somehow allowed to be part of their audience.
To allow an African American performer to utter the words “silly white boy” in reference to a Caucasian performer is, at best, completely and inexcusably disgusting.
Personally I do not use the terms African American & Caucasian in my vocabulary. In this case I have to because people need to understand that it is this type of behavior of the WWE and people and groups like them that helps maintain such a bigoted, racist, backward and evil society.
Look around. Read the paper. Listen to the radio. Watch the news. Visit any legitimate media outlet and you will see by recent history that there is no place in our world for such behavior.
Perhaps if the WWE were not making money hand over fist thru pay-per-view events, house shows, merchandising and television advertising revenue they would clean up their filthy form of entertainment.
Let’s start on this day a month long boycott of all of the WWE’s ventures. Let’s call for a public apology for their ignorance. Let’s call for the termination of not only the performer that voiced that garbage but the writer that penned it.
We are not black. We are not white. We are not brown. We are not yellow. We are human beings on one earth. Let’s make our earth a more peaceful place to live in.
Join me in this push to put a stop to this type of nonsense.
