Undertaker = Greatest WWE Superstar of All-Time

Saturday, May 16, 2009, 06:30 PM EST [General]

    Where do I begin....lol

Mark Calaway known to us the wrestling fans as "The Undertaker" has certainly made a name for himself, in this line of business.

No one has dedicated themselves to their character like 'Taker has. Jericho once referred to him as the "Pre-Madonna" of Sports Entertainment...lol, which I agree with. Undertaker has been able to adapt over the years, and that is what I believe sets him apart from all of the others. He's known for switching up his move-set and persona, just when you think it's about to get stale.

He has proven over and over again, to be one of the all-time greats. He has stood the test of time, and his tenure in this business is just amazing. He has dominated every era he has been apart of. He has always happened to be there "lurking in the background" When Hogan, Bret, and Austin were on top, he managed to be one step behind them.

For over nearly 20 yrs, he has always managed to remain as one of the "top guys". It just amazes me how he was able to do that, with a gimmick like that. He has become on of the top babyfaces this company has ever saw/had. IHMO, this man has got the Greatest Gimmick of All-Time.

Now, he may not be the "greatest" wrestler, but he sure as hell is a "good" one. He has certainly raised the bar high, for all the other super-heavyweights/big men who attempt to follow in his foot steps. One thing that really amazes me about the 6 foot 9, 299 lb. Conscience of the WWE, is his ability to make others look good. For majority of his career, he has been matched with the "giant" like guys. Most of them with no talent at all, and 'Taker went out there and carried the match, and made them at least look like something. It took awhile for them (writers/Vince) to realize "hey!, this man can wrestle", "he can go out there and do at least 20 to 25 minutes". He has had some great battles with some of the greatest in-ring performers (Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, Ric Flair, etc.).

He is one of, if not the most loyal WWE superstar ever. He has been screwed over so many times, but hasn't complained once. In the mid to late 90's, when everyone else fled like rabbits to rival company WCW.....he stayed with the WWE (WWF at the time), and continued to help carry the company (yes I said "carry"). He goes out there and wrestle through injuries, and still delivers. His passion for this business runs so deep. I have a HUGE  amount of respect for the Deadman, and it ain't going nowhere....lmao.

Undertaker also has one of the greatest wrestling careers ever. Everything this man touches is Gold! His name is all over Wrestlemania, his name is all over the Hell In A Cell. His list of accomplishments/accolades are amazing (I still think himself along with HBK, have accomplished more than any other wrestler to step foot in the WWE) Undertaker & Shawn Michaels "ARE" WWE. His most prized possession has to be his 17-0 Undefeated Streak at Wrestlemania!. Seventeen years undefeated, is a amazing feat. He has looked into the eyes of the very best the WWE has had to offer, and has beaten them all. He isthe Yard Stick to which every WWE superstar past or present is measured.

I know some are probably thinking, "okay, so what actually makes him the Greatest WWE Superstar". It's all of that, his great matches, undefeated streak, his tenure in this business, his amazing feuds, his ability to carry others through matches and make them look good, etc.

The Deadman is one of a kind, and the wrestling world will never see another like him. He is everything, he has ever said he was. He is the "Big Dog in the Yard", and that is his yard. You may not be a fan of his, and you may not like him.....but you should at least RESPECT him.

At the end of the day, you could take away his Undefeated Streak, and his title reigns.....and he'll still be the MAN!

When Hogan left the WWE to "make movies", while Bret was every little child's "hero", while DX created controversy, while Austin & Rocky battled week in and week out, and while Cena, Batista, Orton, and others were on the rise. The Undertaker was forging a legacy for outlasting the competition.

So IMHO, Undertaker isthe Greatest WWE Superstar of All-Time! :-)

***I just thought I'd add this***

    Punk on 'Taker....

"I'm just waiting until the day that I get a chance to step in the ring with him. He's not the most open or outspoken guy, but I've gotten a couple of words of wisdom out of him....and they're all gems. I like to call him the Godfather, because there are people in charge and then there's the Godfather. And the Undertaker is probably the biggest money drawin the past 20 years. On top of all that, he's a great wrestler. He's gifted physically and he wrestles smart. He is literally the furthest thing from Lex Luger, but he is the total package. He is pro-wrestling."

    The Cornerstones of the WWE

The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels are the 2 major staples to the WWE. They have accomplished more than any other wrestler to ever step foot in the WWE. They have also help introduce alot of the gimmick matches we love to the WWE like (Hell In A Cell, Ironman, Buried Alive, Casket, Boiler Room Brawl, Last Ride, Inferno). They are the two superstars that shine the most at a Wrestlemania event. Undertaker being undefeated at the event going 16-0 (March 30, 2008), and Michaels being named Mr. Wrestlemania delivering 5 star matches at every Wrestlemania he has wrestled at. They both have also main evented so many PPV's. HBK & Taker are the two greatest legends to ever come from the WWE. They both may not have that many world title reigns, but they have surely made names for themselves by being two of the most popular wrestlers in pro wrestling, and in the history of the WWE.
