Dream Feuds & Awesome Rivalries We Have Yet To See...

Thursday, November 20, 2008, 10:03 AM EST [General]

Nowadays it's looking more and more like we have another 'Monday Night War' heating up where there is actually some solid competition arising for the WWE in the form of TNA!  Now, we remember the good ol days of the Monday Night Wars, when each week the programming that was pumped out of WWE and WCW were making each other push harder and farther to be the superior brand, and it showed- because the real winners were the wrestling fans.

Week in and week out, one would be trying to top the other, and it was ****ing great to be a fan during those times.

A LOT has changed since then, wrestling's kayfabe has been shattered, but to an almost likeable place where finally now, can it accept the viewers it never could because its not trying to be anything it's not - except sometimes compelling.

Which is why Id like to take the time to post a few fueds that I would like to see, regardless of the wrestler or the company- just plain FUN.

    Shawn Michaels & Rey Mysterio

I dont recall ever seeing these two lock up, let alone have a program that show-stops a couple of PPV's .  This would be a classic rivalry because of the amount of lucha libre embedded into both these Champions.  Shawn was always the 'white guy who wrestled like a mexican' and Rey was always 'the mexican who could wrestle any white guy' - these two NEED to cross paths before HBK considers hangin up the 'gotta put every new guy in the company over' boots and gets down to the nitty gritty with Mystereo in an Iron Man Match & a Ladder Match.  I know he could have almost as a good a program with Mystereo as he did with Jericho.   HBK would have to be the heel, tho-  I wanted to see a heel rey rey for a while now, but I think he needs a posse for that, becasue hes not very intimidating when hes angry (ask Kane) - even to a smaller competitor like Shawn.

    Trish Strattus & Beth Phoenix

The top female competitor of all time versus the glamazon.  If Trish were still around, Beth would be the Glamma-gone.  Their athletic talents out do each other at every turn, both are superb athletes, Beth being a little bigger, Trish being a little more candid and likeable (even as a manager that didnt say a word in T&A) could have a series of matches that would re-define womens wrestling, and definately show the Knockouts over at TNA that Barbie Dolls ARE meant for playfighting.  Remember Trish's hardcore battles with Lita - these would surpass that im sure.

    Shawn Michaels & AJ Styles

For AJ to be the poster boy for TNA, he needs a big win over wrestlers who 'poster boy' the WWE - namely HBK, HHH or Taker.

All of these suggestions would be an amazing battle to witness, but I think out of the three, HBK would bring the best out of Styles because he has air attack that HHH never deploys (ever?) and Taker couldnt begin to match at this point in their respective careers.  Styles would take HBK to the limit and they would tell a damn good story the whole way - something to the tune of a Street Fight or an Iron Man match would fit these two perfectly, that way there can be infinite possibilities for each to fly, use ladders, chairs, tables, whatever craziness they could think of, would be an awesome showdown - and who doesnt wanna see sweet chin music countered with the pele kick???

    Sting & Undertaker

'Nuff Said.  Its worth whatever it would cost to get Sting after his TNA contract is up, just for a final run in the WWE in order to give the possibility of so much that has never before been able to manifest because of politics, money, loyalty and timing.  With wins over practically everyone in the business thats ever left WWE (Taker, HBK & HHH excluded) him coming to do business in the WWE only seems it would complete a wrestling legacy that is impressive despite having never stepped foot into a wwe ring.  No matter how great a champion you are, how good can you be if the gold you have worn has never been WWE gold?  I think Stings personal quest to 'perch atop' the upper echelon of the wrestling world would only be topped by a feud with the Deadman, taking Sting and The Taker back thru all their earlier garb/personas - like when Sting looked more like the Warrior than Brandon Lee (I never did like that Crow imitation- thought it was disrespectful to Brandon Lee and it wasnt original) and what you're left with is a casket match where Taker seals in the old Sting, who then vanishes and turns into 'crow' Sting and vows revenge on the Deadman so they go at it in a structure that you cannot drop in from the top, appear out of nowhere (or so you think) - the beloved Hell in a Cell!

Kendrick & London vs Motor City Machine Gunns

Even tho K&L are no longer a tag team, their partnership was one that put tandem wrestling back into the tag-team scene in the WWE, when almost no one in the past five years has been able to duplicate the now distant boom caused by The Hardys, Edge & Christian & the Dudleys and/ later on the team of Jonny Nitro & (what the hell was his name??).

Seeing these four guys do their thing would be a spectacular feat if everything went wrong.  If everything went right- then these guys would make history with the amount of innovation, speed, technical ingeneuity, stamina & heart these guys pump into every millisecond they give you as performers.  What I really wanna see is London & Kendrick in a six sided ring with some TNA originals barking up their tree.

Here are some other feuds to think about, I wanted to list them all without having to write an encyclopedia after each, so here are some more ideas along with some of my goofy rhetoric:

Edge vs Samoa Joe } Tables Ladders and Chairs, Chaos!

Edge vs Christian Cage } Con-chair-no contest

AJ Styles vs Jon Morrison } Who has more natural talent?

HHH vs Sting } payback for the WMXIV squash with Warrior

Kevin Nash vs Scott Hall } a work for Hall to join MEM?

Jeff Hardy vs HBK > Ladder Match to end all Ladder Matches

Randy Orton vs AJ Styles } Legend Killer meets Living Legend

Cody Rhodes vs GoldDust } Lil Bro walks out of the 'embarrasing' shadow of older bro's career as a 'freak'

    Warrior vs Sting

    Bret Hart vs Kurt Angle

Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels 3

Thanks for the food for thought! I do like your rivalry line-up. It's certainly something to think about. Hope you will enjoy this sunday's Survivor Series as much as I will. CCFN!

I totally agree with all of that. When WCW finished & there was talk about Sting going 2 WWE all i kept thinking about was Sting Vs Taker that would be a classic. But AJ Vs Shawn, AJ Vs Rey, london & Kendrik Vs The Guns, AJ Vs Jeff (again), & loads of other matches that u could think of would be s**t hot, & i have always thought that Wrestlemania is the biggest event in wrestling right so like NFL, NBA, NBL & other sports that have a big main stage y don't wwe have a series of tournaments with other wrestling companys 2 headline wrestlemania i think that would be quality then matches that we all dream of would come true in the biggest wrestling event ever. Just an idea?
