Dark Match
Takeshi Morishima over Jamie Noble - well everyone that watched Smackdown! didn't get to see this match because it's a dark match but from what i've watched on youtube from Takeshi, he's very good in the ring. I think that he might still be with Ring of Honor, but don't count this fact out of any question, WWE will probably try their hardest to sign him.
Friday Night Smackdown!
so at the beginning of the show, Vickie is basically trying to suck up to the Undertaker after all the hell and bullshxt she and Edge put him through. then she announces the apparent 2 qualifying matches before Unforgiven and Smackdown!'s Title Scramble. there were obviously more than two matches.
Maria over Natalya - Maria won this match due to Maryse running down and attacking Maria resulting in a win by dq for Maria. after that, Maryse and Natalya attacked Maria and McCool made the save. I think that at Unforgiven, there should be a Divas Championship match with all four of these ladies because if that title is going to have a spot at all on the SD! show, it needs to be defended. There is no point in having a championship on a show and not seeing it defended at all. by the way, Maria looked very good last night in the ring (minus that horrible broncobuster), and well, you get the rest lol. dont worry, Natalya did too.
10 man Battle Royal. Winner advances to the Title Scramble - so this one definately had a lot of complaints from a lot of people. this match was definately pointless because the winner was, not Brian Kendrick, but THE Brian Kendrick haha. this guys is very good to watch in the ring and it's something Smackdown! has been in need of for quite some time now. yeah, hes still an up and comer and should be in the mid card spot but if you think about it and take a good and hard look at the Smackdown! roster, there aren't too many main eventers. I think that this was WWE's way of saying that guys that we've been watching for so long like Triple H and Taker won't always be in the main event spot all the time and that it's probably time to pass the torch on to the younger crowd. say what you will about The Brian Kendrick, but regardless of what you say, he's moving up the bar and he's moving fast. i didn't like the fact that Show wasn't a part of that match but i honestly think that after this, Show might try to find a way to be apart of it or become the number one contender somehow. what i'd like to see at No Mercy, WWE Championship match between Show, Taker and Triple H. that in my mind is a complete money maker and would definately draw fans to buy the show and enjoy it. but back to the topic, the one thing i did like about this match was when Zeke caught Kendrick in mid air and practically saved him from being eliminated. that has never been done before, at least ive never seen it and ive been watching this company put on shows since Undertaker's debut in November of 1990.
MVP over Festus - well this one was obviously a time filler or Festus really had a chance. I really would like to see Hankinson knock this off if the creative team is going to do nothing with the Jesse and Festus thing and i would like to see Hankinson (festus) do something more with his career, as i would like to see Gordy (jesse) do the same. the Gordy name is a legendary family name inside the WWE and Ray Gordy (jesse) is obviously carrying the name on and definately in the memory of his father Terry. so if WWE arent going to let them get a tag title to their credits, then let Ray become something more like move to RAW and join up with the other family faces like Orton, Dibiase, Jr, Rhodes, Deuce (SNUKA JR!!!!) but back to the topic, i still kind of like this bell ringing and Festus going crazy and going normal. i find it hilarious still and Jesse and Festus deserve to be tag team champions but this was obviously a time filler for MVP to get his win and advance to the Title Scramble.
Shelton Benjamin over Finlay - this was the best match of the night. this match actually had some wrestling to it and it was so amazing to watch and it looked like a real rivalry could have been created and it looked like they were about to actually fight each other and i think that both Benjamin and Finlay pulled that one off as a really good match or fight and then low and behold, the pointless and roster cuttable, Mike Knox came down to the ringside area and basically pooped all over this great match and ruined it for everyone. minus Knox, the match was great and Benjamin advanced to the Title Scramble.
Jeff Hardy over Khali - this was kind of a rocky match. boring and then interesting and it went back and forth and we finally saw something on Smackdown! that we hardly see, THE USE OF A STEEL CHAIR!! thats right! thanks to Triple H, utilizing the chair shot to Khali and Jeff Hardy advances to the Title Scramble.
after the match, Triple H gave us one of the greatest promos ever, why? cause it, in my opinion, was the old evil Triple H letting everyone know that celebration time isnt what anyone should be doing, but instead he basically told them that you should worry about playing The Game and that celebrating wont help you win. just because they're in the title scramble, doesnt mean they've won anything yet. then we got poor kenny dykstra coming down and complaining to Triple H about how he should be in it its his time for everything and he gets the pedigree for his troubles.
The Apology from Vickie Guererro - well this went well. La Familia comes down, introduces Taker's return to Smackdown! and all but Vickie gets laid out for their troubles. I'm glad to see Taker up and running again from all those injuries and he doesn't look to be in bad bad shape anymore. he looks good, better, healthier and even more ready than before. Vickie though, she thought she had all this in the bag and in her corner and that obviously wasn't the case. you piss the deadman off and then expect him to say "i accept your apology"? you're in for some real hell and La Familia took one for her and i was glad to finally see the cut throat and eyes rolling into the back of his head again. great way to end the show and id really like to see where Taker is going next.
Smackdown! has definately been getting very rocky again. at first after the draft, it was everything big and still is and thats definately because of Triple H being moved over there and i really cannot wait til Smackdown! makes its move over to the MyNetworkTV spot. i think the debut is October 3rd, but that thursday, WWE will be airing Wrestlemania 24 in it's entirety and what's very interesting to note about that is that TNA's Impact is aired on thursdays so there will definately be a huge, huge ratings plummet unless they move the show to a different day in order to save their ratings. seriously, are you going to watch IMPACT and not Wrestlemania? i wouldn't. besides, Impact has been blowing more wang than a gay guy at a gay bar with angle, joe and booker being the cancer of the company.
This was fun doing this review and i'll most likely do one next week.
take care,
