    RAW Review

Friday, April 18, 2008, 04:10 PM GMT [General]

OK. Each week after RAW, I will give my thoughts on the show.

So let's get to this week's RAW from London, England

First we start off with England's own William Regal. JBL came barging into Regal's office saying he is sick of Britain (huge heat - obviously) and sick of Regal trying to screw him over. JBL demanded that he should face Randy Orton one-on-one and not be in a Fatal 4 Way with Orton, Cena and HHH. Before JBL could finish, Regal cut him off by telling him that he would be facing Triple H later on in the night. Good opening segment with a surprisingly good reaction for Regal.

HBK came out to the ring to recap his match at WM24 with Flair and Batista's 'problem' with him retiring Ric. He went over the events that occured on SmackDown! when Shawn found out that Batista has actually got a problem with HBK himself. He said that he didn't retire Ric Flair to boost his ego, much like Batista thinks. However, he said what would boost his ego is kicking Batista's teeth down his throat. Then after a pause Flair's music played, but it was Chris Jericho that appeared, he called HBK a phony and said that Shawn enjoyed retiring Ric Flair and that Jericho knows that HBK loves HBK the most. He went to suggest that HBK was the one who proposed the retirement stipulation in the first place, and with that HBK snaped. He delivered Sweet Chin Music to Jericho and admitted that he enjoyed that. Great segment with an emotional promo by Shawn and a great performance by Jericho also.

Next was a #1 Contenders Match for the World Tag Team Championships and it was Londrick vs Carlito & Santino

A good showing as always from London & Kendrick and Carlito & Santino are continually improving in my opinion as a solid tag team. Londrick controlled most of the match, but after Carlito tagged in he dominated Kendrick. However, Kendrick somehow made the tag to Paul London and soon all four men were in the ring fighting, Kendrick took Santino to the outside while Carlito connected with a Back Cracker on London for the win.

I won't go into much detail for the Womens Title Match between "The Glamazon" Beth Pheonix and Mickie James. The Glamazon obviously controlled most of the match, but Mickie did get in some good offence and when Beth had Mickie a submission move, Mickie shockingly pulled off an appropriately named Victory Roll to defeat The Glamazon and become champion.

We go backstage now to GM William Regal's office as he is warming up to take on the WWE Champion Randy Orton. Chris Jericho interrupted Regal's workout and asks to be put in a match with Batista and Shawn Michaels. Regal says yes, Jericho can be the special guest referee for the Batista vs HBK match at Backlash. Regal also says that since Jericho wants a fight, he can wrestle Umanga tonight - for the Intercontinental Title!

JTG vs Trevor Murdoch was yet another way to show the seperation that is happening between Trevor Murdoch and Lance Cade. JTG gets the easy roll-up for the win and after the match, Cade comes in to join Murdoch. Cade pats Trevor on the back and just walks out on him.

Now on to Regal vs Orton. William Regal controlled most of the match, to the joy of the London crowd. Regal got several near-falls in the match and this even prompted some "Regal" chants in the crowd which must have kept Regal going as he continually controlled the match but in the end it was the deadly RKO from Orton that won the match.

Chris Jericho vs Umaga for the Intercontinental Championship

Both men looked impressive in this match and it gave a chance to show us that Umaga is not unstoppable. However, Umaga did look dominant throughout the match, but Jericho's dirty tactics won the match by getting a roll-up with his feet on the ropes to retain his title.

Main Event - Triple H vs JBL

Oh look, HHH in the main event...AGAIN! This was a brawling match straight from the start with both men having a huge dislike for the other. This match was taken up the ramp, when Randy Orton showed up and hit The Game from behind and kept hammering away before JBL took him back up to ring and told Orton to kick Triple H in the head. Orton was lining up the kick when JBL knocked Orton out with his Clothesline from Hell. The final picture of RAW was JBL standing tall holding the WWE Title.

My Thoughts - A good RAW that hyped a lot of matches for Backlash, especially the Fatal 4 Way match and also the emotional battle that will be Batista vs HBK. I thought it was interesting that Y2J was made special guest referee so we'll see how that goes. That's all from me for this week.
