EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT STIPULATIONS

Saturday, July 11, 2009, 07:59 PM EST [General]

Everything You Wanted To Know About Stipulations

50: Ladders purchased by WWE per year for various stipulation matches. Due to the loss of their structural integrity during a contest, these ladders are never used twice.

23: Total rungs on the largest ladder used in WWE matches. More often than not, 19-rung ladders are used inside the squared circle. Meanwhile, Hornswoggle's mini-ladder sports only five itty-bitty steps.

36: Ladder Matches contested in WWE history as of the 2009 Extreme Rules ppv. This stat doesn't include TLC Matches, of which there have been a grand total of seven.

24 Hours a Day/7Days a Week. The stipulation instituted on the WWE Hardcore Championship, which stated the title could change hands whenever, wherever so long as a referee was present.

10,000: Tacks Mankind scattered across the ring during his infamous Hell In a Cell Match against Undertaker at the 1998 King of the Ring.

0: No Rope Barbed Wire Matches contested in WWE history. The closest WWE has come was in 2005's brutal Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match at No Way Out.

1937: Year of the first recorded Cage Match. A Houston-area promoter surrounded a ring with Chicken wire to keep wrestlers in and the fans out. During the 1960s, "Classy" Freddie Blassie would propose that a wrestler climb out of the cage or walk through the door to win.

1: Time in WWE history that the World Heavyweight Championship has been defended in a ladder match. Chris Jericho retained the title, but only after losing a tooth. By the way, as of 2008, the World Heavyweight Championship has never changed hands at a No Mercy ppv.

$15,000: Purse for winning the Bodyslam Challenge, the very first stipulation match contested at the inaugural WrestleMania.

60: Most Superstars to ever compete in a single stipulation match. It occurred four times at the annual WCW ppv World War 3, which saw 60 wrestlers battle in three adjacent rings.

1 Hour, 10 Minutes, 52 Seconds: Length of the longest Iron Man Match in WWE history. Normally, these matches are scheduled to last 30 or 60 minutes, but at WM 12 neither Shawn Michaels nor Bret Hart could manage to score a pinfall or submission...sending the bout into sudden death overtime.

    DID YOU KNOW...?

Shawn Michaels does not give high marks to his classic ladder match against Razor Ramon at WM 10. "Everyone goes on and on about that ladder match and I understand all the praise, but I look at that match and feel, 'Eh it was alright,' " says Michaels.

Shelton Benjamin has fought in four of the Money In The Bank Ladder Matches. "And I haven't won a single Money In The Bank Ladder Match," he laments. "It's either I don't know when to quit, or I have no luck with ladders."

EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT DIVAS

Saturday, July 11, 2009, 07:31 PM EST [General]

Everything You Wanted To Know About DIVAS

7: Decades Mae Young has wrestled professionally. In 1941, Mae opened up for Stu Hart in Canada and was the first female to wrestle for Vincent J. McMahon (Vince's father). And, she's still kicking butt at age 86!

5: Months Beth Phoenix held the Women's Championship and dominated the division before Melina captured the title from her at the 2009 Royal Rumble.

11: Age of Beth Phoenix when she won a coloring contest through a local New York Newspaper to score two free tickets to see her first-ever WWE show.

7: Women's titles won by Trish Stratus-a WWE record!-before her official retirement on September 17, 2006.

10: Days that WWE Diva Jacqueline held the Cruiserweight Championship in 2004. She was the first (and only) Diva ever to capture this hunk of gold in WWE.

3: Years the Women's Championship remained inactive. In 1990, Rockin' Robin vacated the title. It wasn't until 12/93 that Alundra Blayze captured the vacant title during a Divas tournament.

99: Number of sexy, smart, powerful Divas to saunter down the entrance ramp in WWE history.

10: Years ago that the word "Diva" was first used to describe a female wrestler on a WWE show. It was Sable who referred to herself as a Diva during the 4/19/99 episode of Raw.

2008: Year the Divas Championship debuted. Michelle McCool took home the inaugural gold after defeating Natalya at The Great American Bash on July 20.

3: Women's Championships held by Melina during her four-year career, including the win against Beth Phoenix at the 2009 Royal Rumble.

54: Women's Championship reigns held throughout WWE history (as of press time). The first? The Fabulous Moolah.

10,170: Days that The Fabulous Moolah reigned as Women's Champion, the longest title reign in WWE history. She was also the first-ever Women's Champion, having defeated Judy Grable on September 18, 1956, for the honor.

1: Rookie Diva of the Year bouts in WWE. Former Diva Joy Giovanni beat three other WWE Divas at 2005's No Way Out for the unique win.

    DID YOU KNOW...?

WWE Diva Mickie James stores famous quotes in her iPod and recites them for inspiration. Her favorite? "The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it."

EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT FINISHERS AND FOREIGN OBJECTS

Saturday, July 11, 2009, 07:07 PM EST [General]

Everything You Wanted To Know About Finishers & Foreign Objects

5: Consecutive Flying Elbow Drops Randy Savage used on the Ultimate Warrior at WM 7. And the Macho King still lost.

735: Pounds John Cena carried when he performed the Attitude Adjustment at WM 25. The Chain Gang Commander hoisted both the 485-pound Big Show and the 250-pound Edge on his back during their Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Championship. The combined poundage is roughly equal to the weight of a hammerhead shark or an American black bear.

1994: The year ECW introduced the Singapore Cane Matches. The idea of using the stick was inspired by the story of Michael Fay, and American tourist who was caned in Singapore for his acts of vandalism.

11: Height, in feet, of the largest ladder used by the WWE. The more common ones still stand a good 10-feet tall.

25: Variations of the standard powerbomb, ranging from the Argentine powerbomb to the vertical suplex powerbomb. This move was developed in Japan and first brought to the U.S. in the 1980s.

2008: The year the Shooting Star Press was reinstated by WWE officials. ECW's Even Bourne executes the once-banned high-risk move with stunning precision and grace.

5: Tombstones executed by Undertaker and Kane at WM 14. During this 1998 meeting between the bone-chilling duo, Kane delivered two devastating piledrivers, while the victorious 'Taker one-upped his brother with three. Mom would've been proud.

3: Weight, in pounds, of each steel chair used in WWE rings.

    DID YOU KNOW...?

The Sleeper hold debuted in Yankee Stadium. On June 29, 1931, "The House that Ruth Built" witnessed Jim Londos slap the famed move on Ray Steele. It's OK, we don't know who they are either.

The finisher Hurricanrana-a headscissors takedown that ends in a pin position- was named after the titular character of the 1953 film Hurican Ramirez. In the movie, Ramirez begins a career in lucha libre to earn money for his family.

EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT CHAMPIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIPS

Saturday, July 11, 2009, 06:45 PM EST [General]

EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT CHAMPIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIPS

76: Age of The Fabulous Moolah when she defeated Ivory for the Women's Championship, making her the oldest person to wear WWE gold.

54: Age of the oldest person ever to hold the WWE Championship. The honor belongs to Mr. McMahon, who defeated his future son-in-law, Triple H, for the title on September 16, 1999.

19: Age of Renee Dupree when he won the World Tag Team Championship in 2003. The barely post-pubescent Parisian remains the youngest Champion in WWE history.

454: Days Honky Tonk Man gyrated with the Intercontinental Championship around his waist during his sole title run. The Pink Cadillac-driving, pompadour-sporting Superstar remains the longest reigning I-C Champ in history.

45: Seconds Andre the Giant's 1988 WWE title run lasted. The Championship was vacated after he gave it to Ted DiBiase, which refs deemed an invalid transaction.

8: Lengths, in seconds of the shortest WWE Championship match. With a kick to the gut and a Jackknife Powerbomb, Diesel defeated then-Champ Bob Backlund in as much time as it takes to, well, count to eight.

1: Number of WWE Championships lost in the mail. The Rock's custom Brahma Bull belt was shipped to WWE HQ, but never reached its destination. We're guessing some roody-poo, candy-assed, sticky- fingered fan nabbed it.

13: World Heavyweight and WWE Championships Triple H has won during his WWE career (so far).

$1,719,677.24: Adjusted for inflation, the value of Ted DiBiase's Million Dollar Championship belt, built in 1989 for $1 Million. Only Ted DiBiase, Virgil and the Ringmaster (a pre-Attitude Era Stone Cold Steve Austin) were privileged enough to wear the bejeweled belt around their waists.

3: Titles held by formidable faction Evolution at the close of 2003's Armageddon-the most ever for a stable. Triple H, Randy Orton, Batista and Ric Flair carried the World Heavyweight Championship, Intercontinental Championship and World Tag Team Championship, respectively.

2,803: Days that WWE's longest-reigning Champ, Bruno Sammartino, held the WWE title, starting on May 17, 1963, with a win against "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers, and ending on January 18, 1971, with a loss to Ivan Koloff.

    DID YOU KNOW...?

The only 2 people to hold the NWA and WWE Championships simultaneously are Buddy Rogers and Ric Flair.   Ric Flair's entrance theme is titled "Also Sprach Zarathustra." The tune was originally an interpretive tone poem composed by Richard Strauss, inspired by the works of Friedrich Nietzsche.

Custom WWE Championship title belts and beltstraps have been created for only 6 Superstars: "Superstar" Billy Graham (red leather beltstrap); the Ultimate Warrior (white, blue and purple leather beltstraps); Sgt. Slaughter (blue leather beltstrap); Stone Cold Steve Austin ("Smokin' Skull" belt); John Cena (Spinner belt); Edge (Modified "Rated-R Superstar" Spinner belt)

John Cena's modified WWE Championship spinner belt took 90 days to construct and has a total of 4,000 hand-placed stones.

"Superstar" Billy Graham was the first Superstar who cheated to win the WWE title. In his 1977 match against Bruno Sammartino, Graham put his feet against the ropes to score the pin. It's more than 30 years later, and we have yet to find a cure for ref blindness.

The Rockers never won the Tag Team Championship. Their closest taste came when they beat then-Champs the Hart Foundation in a Two-out-of-Three Falls Match on October 30, 1990. The victory was ruled unofficial though, because the top rope broke during the match.

    True WWE Fans

Friday, May 15, 2009, 03:24 PM EST [General]

I'm looking for TRUE WWE FANS to include to my friend's list.

I haven't really had any luck requesting my friends. Most of the people I have requested have just created a profile to see how many friends they can get.

They don't respond for months when a message is sent to them. Some of the people on my friends list are busy and I know which ones they are. However they eventually take the time to respond and let me know what they are up to. The others just send a response back just saying "I'm good", or just "Thanks."

Most of you would agree that this is a WWE site created for WWE fans that are a part of the WWE Universe and not really for so-called "marks".

If you know anybody that is a true WWE fan and are smart to the business, please suggest that they check out my profile and send a request. I'm also smart to the business and can ususally hold a decent conversation because WWE is my favorite topic of discussion.
