I Stand Corrected - Jeff Hardy is YOUR New WWE Champion

Sunday, December 14, 2008, 11:03 PM EST [General]

Well, it seems as if my ranting about this topic has finally come to an end.  In what was a stellar match from top to bottom, Jeff Hardy scored a pinfall over Edge to win his first WWE Heavyweight title.  Indeed Jeff Hardy deserved the win, so congrats to him.

I won't say anything that will take away from Hardy's momentous win tonight, but I will say that I'm not thrilled that he won the title.  I'm very interested in seeing how long this title reign will last, and I'm definately interested in seeing who they put up against him.  I don't think he'll keep the title long, but then again, I didn't think he'd win tonight, and look how wrong I was on that call.  Needless to say, I'm waiting for Tuesday night to watch the aftermath of Hardy's win.  Let's see if he's got enough guap to carry Smackdown better than HHH did.

Well, off to see how my predictions did.  Hardy fans, rejoice!  The night is yours.

    Money's Armageddon Preview

Sunday, December 14, 2008, 06:22 PM EST [General]

With Armageddon less than 3 hours away, it seems that the WWE Universe is buzzing with predictions, suggestions, rants, complaints, puddings, blah blah blah.  Be it far from me to deny my contribution to the Armageddon excitement!  I'll go match by match as listed on WWE.com, and basically give you my own predictions and thoughts on the the last ppv of the year for WWE.

    World Heavyweight Championship
John Cena (c) vs. Chris Jericho

    Cena wins.  Period.

I know this fact upsets a lot of the WWE Universers out there, but just be real about it - Cena is the WWE, and in case we missed the memo, he's very reminiscent of Hulk Hogan.  John Cena will eventually become the face of wrestling, but as of right now, he's going to throttle Chris Jericho.

    WWE Championship Triple Threat Match
Edge (c) vs. Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy

    Edge retains.

I hate to be the supreme hater, but there's no way they're going to put a heavyweight belt around Jeff Hardy's waist anytime soon.  To me, he's just not championship material at this point, and apparently the suits at Titan Towers believe the same thing to.   Also, in my opinion, there are more fans willing to pay cold, hard cash to see Hardy chase after the belt than there are willing to pay attention to a Hardy title defense.  It's a very sadistic thought, but hey...ratings don't lie; each time Hardy gets a title shot, people get happier.  Each time he loses, people shout that he deserves the title.  This reminds me of the Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote cartoons; we all watched waiting for Wile E. to catch that Roadrunner, and we eagerly anticipated the day that he would.  But, very few folks remember the one cartoon where he actually caught the Roadrunner, and he held up a little sign that said, "Now that I've got him, what do I do?"  I feel the same for way Jeff Hardy.

    Eight-Diva Santa's Little Helper Match

Why isn't Melina in this match?

    Natalya's team wins.

    Batista vs. Randy Orton

    Orton.

This is an interesting feud in the making.  I don't think there's anywhere for Batista to be at this point, which is...sad...

Okay, I could've said that way more convincing that I did, but I've noticed that Randy hasn't been wrestling as much as one would expect him to.  Is he taking it easy with the rehabilitated collarbone?  Who knows?  He's gonna win, though.

Matt Hardy (ECW Champion) vs. Vladamir Kozlov

    Kozlov.

The Moscow Mauler wanted a championship run, and since his one-on-one with Triple H got booed out of the building, why not see what happens with Matthew Hardy?  I'll tell you what happens - he beats Hardy senseless like he's Apollo Creed, and there won't be anyone to throw in the towel.

    Belfast Brawl
    Finlay vs. Mark Henry

    Finlay.

I'm giving it to Finlay because I looked back over my results and realized that the faces aren't doing to well, so my optimism urges me to hope that Finlay manages to squeak past ECW's "Silverback."  Henry has been pretty quiet for quite awhile now, though...

    Intercontinental Title Tournament Finals
    Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk

    CM Punk.

This might be a great match.  I do believe there's something weird with TNA's X-Division Tournament running right after the IC Title Tournament, but that's another blog for another time.  Anywho, expect a Punk vs. Regal match, and that's gonna be sick!

Well, those are my thoughts.  I hope you all enjoy the show, as I think this ppv will probably be better than average.

    C'mon!!! - What's Going On w/ MVP?!?!

Thursday, December 4, 2008, 10:07 PM EST [General]

I've been an MVP fan since his appearance on WWE television.  As a matter of fact, everytime I watch WWE programming and MVP music begins to blast through the nearest television set, I drop whatever I'm doing and mimic his entrance all the way until he gets to the ring!  I'm not the Universe's biggest MVP fan, but I dig the guy.  He's got great talent, his gimmick is gold (imo), and he's got this way of making you dislike him without doing anything but being slightly obnoxious.

But for whatever reason, MVP has sucked majorly for the last few months.  And believe it or not, fans have noticed this regardless of their love for or hate of Smackdown's most valuable playa.

Say what you will about the "highest paid superstar in Smackdown history," you can't sit anywhere without hearing a fan talk of their displeasure at the losing streak of MVP.   To be frank, I believe MVP is actually two and a half more losses away from rivaling the amazing losing streak of Gilberg.  Gavin Spears has had more wins than MVP.  And what really amazes me, Universe, is the fact that a majority of us really want to see him win ONE match...b/c we believe he's talented enough for at least that.

For whatever reason, MVP has lost his edge.  Ever since losing the United States title, it seems like he's become just another face on the roster.  He has no drive to stay on top, and perhaps that's because he's got a guaranteed multi-million dollar contract, and despite seeing his loss record rise faster than the billions served at McDonald's across the world, MVP knows he's got  money in the bank, and he doesn't have to climb the first ladder to get to it.  In my oh so humble opinion, in order to get back in the game, MVP has to become that no nonsense mat technician that took "He Who Shall Not Be Named" to the limit awhile back.  I feel like MVP is caught in the same trap as Cryme Tyme and Santino Marella; as long as all four men continue to pander to silliness and smiles, they'll never eeeeeever see anything remotely worth a damn as far as championship belts are concerned.  At this point, MVP would be better off being the X Division Champion...it's not like he's doing anything else worthwhile, so why not give him a title that acknowledges that fact?

In short, here's to MVP's streak...hopefully it'll end soon, but you really won't catch me holding my breath for too much longer.
