Good evening and welcome to the hottest nitetime blog ever "The Midnight Hour". Tonight i'm going to talk about the news right here in my hometown of Cleveland Ohio.
A Cleveland father is in jail as police investigate the assault of his newborn son.
The infant, just 17 days old, remains hospitalized in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center after he was admitted late Tuesday night with trauma to his head and bruises to his body.
Among other injuries, the baby suffered bilateral retinal hemorrhages, and if he survives, doctors say he may never see again.
Police were called to MetroHealth after the mother of Aiden Porosky took him there after she said she had difficulty feeding him.
The newborn's father, 24-year-old Christopher Porosky, had been taking care of the infant all day at his Pearl Road apartment.
Porosky told police he dropped the baby earlier when he thought he was going to pass out and that the baby's head hit a recliner and then the floor.
But doctors at Metro said Aiden's injuries were not consistent with that story. They said the child had multiple bruises to his head and body and trauma to his brain. Porosky has not been charged in the case.
In 2004, Porosky was convicted of breaking into the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Green four times around Easter, beheading statues, breaking stained glass windows and carving Satanic graffiti into a wall.
When police at the time asked why he did it, Porosky claimed to be bored.
Police said Porosky served his time in the 2004 case and the investigation into the current case is continuing.
AND IN LOCAL NEWS:
Authorities arrested a fugitive Wednesday wanted in connection with an armed robbery.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Service received information that suspect Jonathan Ward could be hiding in a Cleveland home. Arresting officers found Ward sleeping in a bedroom at the Lakeview Estates Housing Complex on Division Avenue.
Authorities said a 9 mm handgun was found beneath the mattress of the bed Ward was sleeping in.
Ward is a suspect in a robbery that took place in September in the area of East 70th Street and Cedar Avenue.
Police said the victim was robbed at gunpoint and the thief got away with money, a cell phone and a bag of groceries.
