PAY-PER-VIEW NEWS: Turning Point, Survivor Series, Genesis, WrestleMania & Final Resolution
- Kevin Nash recommended to TNA officials that they remove the intoxicated Scott Hall from backstage @ the Turning Point Pay-Per-View. He even suggested that police should escort him out, which had Hall upset @ Big Sexy, but he left without causing a scene. Despite Nash mentioning Scott Hall's name in promos, TNA had no plans to use him for the Samoa Joe versus Kevin Nash match. His appearance that night happened to be a coincidence. People backstage were concerned, after Hall appeared ringside, as fans were more interested in him than the Sheik Abdul Bashir versus Rhino match. They thought, if he were there during the main event, that it would take away from the match because fans would think he'd interfere @ some point of time to give Nash the win. Hall was seen sitting with 2 Juggalos from the Insane Clown Posse.
- The 1st traditional Survivor Series match for this year's pay-per-view has been announced & it will involve Team HBK versus Team JBL. 2016 WWE Hall of Famer "HeartBreak Kid" Shawn Michaels will captain his side, along with RAW's Rey Misterio Junior & Cryme Tyme, as well as Smackdown's Great Khali, to take on RAW's John Brad$haw Layfield & Kane, Smackdown's Montell Vontavius Porter & ECWWE's Altered Reality (Mike "The Miz" Mizanin & John Morrison). Another 5-on-5 match was announced during the Smackdown! tapings Tuesday. RAW's Dave "The Animal" Batista will captain his team, which also includes RAW Tag Team champions the New Generation (CM Punk & Kofi Kingston), ECWWE Heavyweight champion Matt Hardy & Smackdown's "R-Truth" Ron killings, to take on team captain RAW's "Legend Killer" Randy Orton, RAW's Cody Rhodes, Smackdown United States champion "Gold Standard" Shelton Benjamin, RAW InterContinental champion William Regal & ECWWE's "World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry.
- TNA Wrestling will be taking the January pay-per-view on the road, as Genesis kicks off the Pay-Per-View year in Charlotte, North Carolina @ the Cricket Arena. http://www.Ticketmaster.com will be holding a pre-sale for the event starting today from 10AM EST until 1 minute before Midnight on the same day. Fans who wish to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public the next day, can do so by using the promo code FOLEY. Ticket prices will range from $20 to $150 US ringside. The show's on January 11th. Get 'em while they're HAWT!!
- In a press release issued earlier Monday, WWE announced that ticket sales for WrestleMania have already exceeded $4,800,000 US, with fans from 24 countries, all 50 states & 7 Canadian provinces planning to attend the 25th anniversary event. No number of ticket sales has been released, but judging from http://www.Ticketmaster.com it seems that tickets are moving slower than previous 'Manias. The show's expected to bring upwards of $50,000,000 US into the local economy, with a week-long schedule of activities in Houston. Of course, WWE has absolutely no history of inflating any previous WrestleMania figures. . . or in the case of 1 of the earliest show, deflating the overall headcount!!
- In a desperate publicity stunt, TNA Wrestling issued a press release Tuesday announcing that Alaska governor & former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be invited to become an honourary member of The Beautiful People. TNA President Dixie Carter has said that she'll personally fly the Governor & her husband from Alaska to Orlando, Florida, to appear @ the December pay-per-view Final Resolution. In addition, TNA will present Governor Palin with a $50,000 US cheque made out to the charity of her choice, or make the donation to the youth hockey association in her native Wasilla, Alaska. The company formally invited her on last night's edition of TNA iMPACT! on Spike TV. "Governor Palin has combined her experiences as a wife & mother, with her political savvy, to prove to America & the world that politics aren't just a man's game. I know 1st-hand what challenges you have to face when breaking a glass ceiling in a male-dominate profession," Carter said. We've received the poster for the December TNA pay-per-view, featuring the Main Event Mafia -- Legends champion Booker TNA, Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner, TNA Heavyweight champion Sting & Kurt Angle -- all decked out in black suits, with the tag line "Respect Is Earned" & the PPV logo @ the bottom. This will be the 2nd Final Resolution of this year, as the show usually airs in January; however TNA moved it to December. You can see it @ http://www.wrestling-online.com/news/TNA/Final_Res_08_poster.shtml
WWE NEWS: cuts, DVDs, marrying men & On Demand 24/7
- WWE Hall-of-Famer Jim Ross updated his blog & you can read the latest posting @ http://www.jrsbarbq.com
- The cuts following the disappointing 3rd quarter financial results started Saturday with WWE firing 2 Superstars. The 1st casualties are Paul London & Chuck Palumbo. London's been employed by the company since 2003 & spent until mid-2007 on the Smackdown! brand, before moving to RAW in last year's draft. During his time in WWE, London won the Smackdown Cruiserweight title, the Smackdown Tag Team title twice -- once with Billy Kidman & again with Brian Kendrick -- & the RAW Tag Team title once, also with Kendrick. Palumbo 1st moved to WWE when his contract was bought along with WCW in 2001 & stayed there until 2004, before he was released. In 2005 he was brought back to the Smackdown! brand & in this year's draft he moved to Monday Night RAW; however he never appeared on the show. 3 more have joined the unemployed list, as Kenny Dykstra, Elijah Burke & Lena Yada were released from their WWE contracts effective Monday. Dykstra -- who was 17 when he made his WWE debut -- signed with the company in 2003 & was thrown into to the Spirit Squad group on RAW. He was drafted to Smackdown! in 2007, where he was barely used. Burke joined WWE in 2006 & after a short stint on Smackdown! moved to ECWWE & became the leader of the New Breed group. He hasn't been on television for months. Yada was 1 of the 2007 Diva Search contestants, becoming the 6th eliminated from the show. She moved to ECWWE in the beginning of this year & last appeared in the Halloween Costume Contest @ Cyber Sunday. The recently-released Elijah Burke has posted a message on his website ~ http://TheElijahExpress.com ~ regarding his dismissal from World Wrestling Entertainment. "My time's @ hand. Don't weep, nor mourn, for I'm gone but 4(up) a while. Hold on to that which I gave you, share it in laughter with those around you. For I've landed but for a brief refueling, for the course YOUR Pope takes is far far away. Your Pope smiles as he writes this, knowing that peace's filled within, to all within the Congregation, NOW the true test begin & remember, MY COMEBACK SHALL BE GREATER THAN MY SETBACK! The Pope Has Spoken!"

The Clinton Administration blog has details on the wedding, which you can read @ http://theclintonadministration.blogspot.com/2008/11/priceless-wedding.html This could explain his angle with "Legend Killer" Randy Orton putting him out of action.
- WWE 24/7's no more, as it's getting rebranded under the name of "WWE Classics on Demand" This was revealed @ the CTAM Summit Tuesday, which's being held in Boston, Massachusetts. - It looks like former NWA champion "Instant Classic" Christian Cage will be jumping ship to WWE, once his contract expires next month, according to totally-trustworthy {wink-wink} source of internet wrestling news http://www.PWInsider.com Cage's still in contract negotiations with TNA, however many around him believe that he's done with the company. The news of Christian most likely leaving TNA was even played during a segment of iMPACT! which aired last night on Spike TV. Cage left WWE on the best of terms & even appeared @ Taboo Tuesday, when his employment with WWE was already terminated, because he was 1 of the 5 choices eligible to be voted for a match. The Instant Classic made his TNA debut @ Genesis 2005 & called WWE "old & boring" & the company took Cage to a fight a year later, when he tried to trademark the name "Captain Charisma", which he used in WWE. Eventually Christian gave up & switched his nick name to "Instant Classic". Before jumping to TNA, Cage was with WWE from 1998 until 2005. While in TNA he won the NWA World Heavyweight title twice.
- http://www.Wrestling-Online.com Newsletter reader & Long Island Press columnist Josh Stewart sent in a link to an interview he did with former Heavyweight champion Kurt Angle. In the interview, Angle talks about the comparison of the Main Event Mafia & the popular New World Order faction. "We show up @ the house shows, we show up @ TV, we have matches, we have great angles & matches set up, thank God," the Olympic Hero said while comparing his group to the original nWo. "So it's completely different, because our guys, I'm the head of the Main Event Mafia & if they don't want to work, I'll kick them out." When asked about the heat he has with Jeff Jarrett following the comments he made about him on TNA television, Angle said that he expected Jarrett to jump him once he went backstage after bringing up his wife in an in-ring interview. "Jeff & I don't see eye-to-eye. A lot of stuff you see on TV's very transparent on how we feel about each other." However, Kurt praised JJ & TNA President Dixie Carter for having the proper reins on the company to keep the Main Event Mafia from becoming a negative. You can read the full interview @ http://www.longislandpress.com/articles/features/540/
- It's been confirmed that Rhino's contract with TNA's set to expire sometime next year. Spring 2009 will be a key period for the company, as reportedly, about 10 contracts are set to expire & as a reminder, Kurt Angle's contract with TNA comes up next September. It's interesting to note that he's been a lot more complementary towards WWE, Vince McMahon & Smackdown Heavyweight champion HHH in media interviewa in recent months -- a complete 180 from his previous comments. He filmed a shoot interview with RF Video in September & praised WWE quite a bit.
HAUGHTY HOTTIES NEWS: Penny, Lilian, Candice & Christy
- To read the coolest news on the hottest women in wrestling today, check out Shimmer's official Yahoo! Group -- http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/shimmerwrestling
- Penny Banner was more than just another lady wrestler. During her 23 year career (1957-1977), which coincided with the so-called "Golden Age of Women's Wrestling", she set standards & achieved successes that made her a major figure in her day & an icon for the generations that followed. Some fans know her as the 1st woman to hold the American Wrestling Association's Ladies Championship, others for her years of packing arenas across the United States & Canada; some even recall her having dated Elvis Presley in the 1950s (Elvis was a big wrestling fan & whenever Penny would work in Memphis, he & his friends were always @ ringside to cheer her on!) Outside of the ring, Penny was also an accomplished competitive horsewoman & businesswoman, as well as, in her latter years, being a multi-medalist in the Senior Olympics. Penny Banner was also the Commissioner of the PGWA, a position which she held since the organization's founding in 1992. Although no longer a wrestler herself, Penny took seriously her duty as a role model for newcomers to the sport. She was also disturbed by the growing trend in women's wrestling @ the time to focus on what became known as "T&A" rather than actual athletic ability. In her estimation, the "Evening Gown Catfights" & such gimmicks were killing the sport she loved. In her position as commissioner, she dedicated herself to the PGWA's mission of preserving & promoting the "Old School" style of pro wrestling. The means of doing so were to host all-ladies shows, to book individual women's matches on various independent promotions' cards & to publicize the ladies in both print & {with the development of the internet} on-line & the PGWA's success speaks for itself. @ the time of its founding, women's pro wrestling was seemingly on the verge of extinction in the United States, with few organizations even bothering to book female wrestlers on their shows any longer. But in 2008, women wrestlers are more popular than ever & a number of other all-female promotions have joined the PGWA in presenting women's shows & the PGWA's official website, LadySports Online, has been visited nearly 3,000,000 times since its relaunch in 2003. Through it all, Penny Banner served as not only a symbol of the PGWA's growth, but also a cornerstone of its success. Sadly, after a valiant battle for several years, Penny succumbed to cancer early in 2008. Now, in honour of both the woman & the legend, the PGWA's presenting "A Banner Night", bringing together some of the most talented women in the sport of professional wrestling today, with each match on the card dedicated to Penny's memory. Headlining the card will be a PGWA Title Match, featuring the champion, Nikki Roxx (aka TNA Knockout 'Roxxi Laveaux'), against former WWE Diva Tracy Taylor of Hawaii. Also slated to appear will be Mia Martinez, Scarlett Rose, XTC, Sassy Stephanie, Angel Dust, Sarah Lynn, Josianne ****cat & Jamie D (both from Canada) & Tennessee's own Tasha Simone, Susan Morton & Su Yung. Additionally, joining them will be Wendi Weaver, the daughter of both Penny Banner & another pro wrestling legend, Johnny Weaver. Wendi will present a Penny Banner Spirit of Excellence Award to 1 of the participants @ the show. The ultimate result will prove to be, they hope, a fitting way to honour their friend & idol. This very special show will be held tomorrow @ the SAW Arena, 1214 B Louisville Highway in Millersville, Tennessee (just north of Nashville) Bell time's 7:30 PM & tickets are $10 US @ the door. For further information about "A Banner Night", visit http://www.LadySports.com We here @ CHMR & RING RUST salute the PGWA & hope them well in their upcoming show.

- TNA Knockout Christy Hemme has posted a new column on the TNA website & she notes her departure from World Wrestling Entertainment. "My departure was on my own terms, because I stuck to my guns on my morals & values as a human being. I knew in my gut that it'd be the end, but I also knew that carrying guilt for knowingly doing something against what I believed wasn't worth getting ahead. Leaving broke my heart. . . but doing the right thing's something I'll always be proud of. My passion for wrestling's exploding from being held for so long. I do have to say, sitting on the sidelines has been extremely beneficial. It's like I spent all that time downloading info that I can now deliver & express in a way I couldn't, keeping the wall I did. I've started training again & have to give HUGE thank you's to 'Phenomenal' AJ Styles, Samoa Joe & Jimmy Rave. . . hurting has never felt so good!" "How old are you?" asks the Hot Rod, while the paparazzo answers with a short & sweet, "Old enough!" Piper proceeds to tell him that he's been fighting for 38 years.
