Jeff Hardy tribute from someone who was there live at his last match

Saturday, August 29, 2009, 08:17 PM EST [General]

I know there have been 1,000's of Jeff Hardy blogs, but mine is one of the better because I was in the arena during Jeff's last match.

I had heard internet rumors that Jeff was going to retire after Summerslam, but during a Smackdown taping before Summerslam it was announced during a commercial that Jeff and Punk would go at it in a steel cage 2 days later. This made me believe that maybe the rumor wasn't true. However, when C.M. Punk made the challenge, I knew we wouldn't be seeing Jeff for a long time after.

Let's talk about Jeff Hardy's departure objectively. I am the first to say it sucks! However, I also realize he had a lot of injuries and put his body in danger constantly. The fact that he is not paralyzed is a miracle. Jeff wouldn't want us to feel sorry for him but would want us to be happy for him in all his hard work and accomplishments. There is no way he could endanger himself day after day, month after month, year after year, etc.  Jeff provided us with exiting match to the end. He was World Heavyweight Champion just days before leaving. He was a 3 time World Heavyweight Champion. Most importantly he was appreciated and respected by his peers and us, his fans. When Punk escaped the cage which was expected still came as a shock. There was a stunned silence even though we were expecting him to lose. As Jeff rose to his feet after the match I can honestly say that I was the first person in my section who chanted "Hardy, Hardy, Hardy!". Jeff addressed us saying goodbye, but not forever. It will be a long time before we see Jeff again, but I believe we will some day. He has taken time off before. From watching WWE for the last 23 years I can say that no single wrestler is bigger than the business. I remember when it was difficult to picture WWE without Hogan or Austin, and WWE has done just fine. That being said, it will always be one of my biggest memories to be in the arena when Jeff wrestled the last match of this particular chapter of his WWE career.

    Smackdown in Phoenix

Wednesday, August 26, 2009, 02:46 PM EST [General]

I was at the Smackdown tapings last night, and you wouldn't believe what happened. If you don't want to know what happened then don't read this blog, but for those of you who can't wait until Friday here is what happened.

It was announced last week that regardless of who won between Jeff and Punk at Summerslam there would be a World Championship cage match. At the beginning of the show Punk challenged Jeff that the loser would have to leave WWE. At this time hearing the Internet rumors I feared the worst. When Punk got out of the cage there was a silence. As Jeff got up, I was the first person in my section to yell "Hardy!". Jeff took the mic and said goodbye for now but not forever. He then walked the ramp and gave 5 to the fans. He stood just passed the ramp and faced the crowd when Punk attacked him with the belt. Punk went to the ring and was about to brag when the lights went out. Taker went to the ring and attacked Punk.

In a bonus match DX and Cena took on Orton and Legacy. DX came out first. Before Triple H made his speech, he told Justin Roberts to get out of the ring because he wasn't enough of a man. He bent over and was about to make his speech but turned around and stared at the ref who quickly left the ring. Shawn proceeded to walk out of the ring, but Triple H said he could stay. When Triple H said "for the millions watching around the world" when Shawn stopped him. Shawn showed him the Smackdown curtain. Triple H realized they were on the wrong show. When it came to his millions speech he said the millions were not watching around the world due to DX not knowing why they were there and on the wrong show. The match ended with Cena chasing Orton out to the dressing room. Triple H did the pedigree at the same time Shawn did sweet chin music, and both members of legacy were pinned at the same time.

This blog was originally going to have my comments on Jeff Hardy's last matches, but I have already written a long blog. I will send my Jeff Hardy tribute blog on Saturday when all of us will have all watched it.

I will be attending Smackdown live on Tuesday, I will give the results if you ask.

Monday, August 24, 2009, 01:30 AM EST [General]

I will be attending Smackdown live this Tuesday in Phoenix. Anyone who wants know the results before Friday can email me, and I will be happy to tell them. On Friday it was announced on TV in Phoenix that there would be a non televised match with Cena and DX against Cody Rhodes and Legacy. Smackdown will have the Great Kali and Mysterio against Dolph and Kane. The main event announced on Friday for this Tuesday will be a return title match between Punk and Jeff inside a steel cage. Given what happened at the end of Summerslam there is a good chance Taker will be there also.
