JOEY: So, Randy, you were here in Baghdad last year. What are some of the differences you see in the city of Baghdad this year compared to last year?
ORTON: Well, we were in Camp Spicher last year, which had the same feel but we didn’t bunk in one big room all together. We had our own little room. We were in the Blackhawks a lot more … stayed a little more busy. I think today, we got the same done here and met a lot of troops. We spent a lot more time with the troops than we did last year. All in all, I think we made more of a lasting impression this year around.
I gotta say, In all the three years I’ve been here, it just keeps getting better and better. I just can’t wait to get back, and boost morale here. It boosts our morale as individuals and human beings. It makes us see the big picture, so to speak.
It makes me really happy to be where I am, that I know why I have my freedom, because the men and women of the United States military come over here with their might and their heart and do this for a living, to get paid scraps, basically. It’s amazing to me.
