Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Presents Express Written Consent on September 21!
By Silverback, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Staff Writer
Dana Point, CA - Just over two months ago, Chris Hero became Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) World Champion by defeating Human Tornado in a World Championship Steel Cage Guerrilla Warfare match at Life During Wartime. Hero's first challenge as champion came in late August at All Star Weekend 7, where he would face Eddie Kingston, "The World Warrior" Low Ki, and Necro Butcher in a World Championship Title Four-Way Match. Hero would ultimately win
the match by pinning Kingston, while Low Ki had Necro Butcher locked in
the Dragon Clutch across the ring. Post-match, tempers flared due to
the neck and neck nature of the finish, but ultimately even Low Ki was
able to admit that Hero's victory was a fair one. Low Ki also added
that he has never been defeated for the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World
Championship, and that Hero will have to pin or submit "The World
Warrior" before he can be recognized as a true champion. Taking this
criticism into consideration, Chris Hero has vowed to defend the Pro
Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship title against any and all
comers. If Low Ki thinks he has a claim on the title, Chris Hero is
more than willing to point out how wrong Low Ki is (via a show of
force, no doubt).
One of the quieter, albeit more charismatic champions in the World Title History is El Generico, whose reign was ended at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's fourth anniversary event, Giant-Size Annual #4. Since losing the title over a year ago, the orphanage El Generico founded in Mexico, Los Angelitos de El Generico,
has closed due to a lack of funding, leading to an increase in truancy
and crime rates throughout the entire country. Sickened by his
inability to care for the children who came to depend on him, El
Generico has made it his goal to reclaim the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla
World Championship title, and the champion's purse, in order to reopen
the doors of his once proud institution. But first, El Generico must
defeat Chris Hero, whose intent of proving himself as the all-time
greatest World Champion may eclipse El Generico's hopes of aiding those
little Mexican crumbsnatchers.
Pro Wrestling Guerrilla presents Express Written Consent on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 4:00PM (please note the earlier than usual start time) at the Burbank Armory in Burbank, CA. The Burbank Armory is located at 3800 Valhalla Dr., Burbank, CA, 91505. Express Written Consent will feature:
Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship Title Match
Chris Hero (Champion - with Candice LeRae) vs. El Generico (Challenger)
Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship Title Match
The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson - Champions) vs. The Dynasty (Scott Lost & Joey Ryan - Challengers)
-- When Matt and Nick Jackson,
The Young Bucks, first set foot in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, it's highly
doubtful that they ever imagined they could reach such levels of
success in such a short amount of time. After their most recently, and
most successful, tour with Dragon Gate, The Young Bucks found out that
their documentary series/travelogue, YBTV, had been picked up by the BBC World Service,
and future installments will be included in the daily syndicated
content block of programming provided by "the Beeb." But all of this
pales in comparison to what took place on the second night of All Star Weekend 7, when The Young Bucks defeated Tyler Black and Jimmy Jacobs, the Age of the Fall, for the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship.
Following
the lead of World Champion Chris Hero, The Young Bucks are not content
with just being champions, they want to prove to fans and wrestlers
alike that they are the premiere tag team in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.
Also, Nick, the younger Buck, would also like the team to be known as
the nicest tag team in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, (perhaps due to
youthful ignorance, or perhaps due to devious strategy) which is why
the Bucks offered the first title shot to Scott Lost and Joey Ryan,
The Dynasty. After all, when The Dynasty were awarded the Pro Wrestling
Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship earlier this year, they allowed
The Young Bucks to be the first team to challenge for the titles. Now
The Young Bucks plan on returning the favor, which very well may be a
nice gesture by the brothers Jackson, or it could be an opportunity to
increase their standing in the tag team world by defeating the former
champions and long-time rivals.
Singles Match
"American Dragon" Bryan Danielson vs. Davey Richards
-- For the first time ever in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson and Davey Richards will meet one on one. Both men are legitimate forces in the
professional wrestling world, and both men are intent on climbing the
rankings to become the number one contender for the Pro Wrestling
Guerrilla World Championship title. For Danielson, this is not his
first rodeo, as the saying goes. The former champion was surprised by a
challenge from Low Ki at All Star Weekend 6 in January, and after losing the title in that match, would the next night wrestle CIMA to a draw in a match to determine the new number one contender.
Disenchanted by his treatment from company management, Danielson took a
sabbatical from Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, but is now ready to return and
compete for the title.
Davey Richards, on the other hand, has
won every honor Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has to offer except for the
World Championship, and this match marks his opportunity to get closer
to that goal. Richards has been competing for Pro Wrestling NOAH in
Japan as of late, and really feels he is at the highest level of
conditioning and skill he has ever reached. So what better time to take
on one of the top wrestlers in the world today, and what better time to
do something no one else has ever done: win the Battle of Los Angeles,
win the World Tag Team Championship, and win the World Championship.
Who knows, if things work out well here for Davey Richards, maybe he'll
try to do all three of those things again, simultaneously. (Is that
even possible?)
Singles Match
Brandon Bonham vs. Roderick Strong
-- After losing the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship to the Age of the Fall at Life During Wartime, Roderick Strong gained some measure of revenge by defeating Tyler Black at night one of All Star Weekend 7.
Heartened by the win, and with no tag team partner to be found, Strong
has decided to attempt to match his tag team honors and return to
singles competition. However things went horribly awry the next night
when Strong fell at the hands of "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen. Now Strong resumes his quest for singles glory back at square one at Express Written Consent against Brandon Bonham. Bonham, Bodhi for short, spent the month of August at Bells Beach in Australia,
somehow returning to America without ever coming back ashore from his
final wave. Undoubtedly imbued with power from the Surf Gods, Bonham
will now return to competition in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla to see if the
gods' influence extends to the professional wrestling ring.
Singles Match
Mikey Nicholls vs. TJ Perkins
Singles Match
Hook Bomberry vs. Johnny Goodtime
