[General]
On 9/26, I got to meet my most favorite wrestler ever since the age of 10 at an ROH show, I was also lucky enough to meet him the following day as well at another appearance in the area, and it was on my birthday no less, lol =) Bret really made me feel very special, I'll just leave it at that, the rest I'm going to keep to myself as my own precious memory.
I got to meet the Hart Dynasty and Maria at the Cold Stone event on 9/24, they were the very first wrestling stars that I have gotten pictures with. Getting more in November.
Heading off to Hell in a Cell on Sunday and my first ever live Raw on 11/16.
For the week of August 4th, I made it on TV for both Superstars and SmackDown, and they were both clear shots, you didn't have to pause and play where's Waldo, so to speak, lol.
So that's it for now, I don't come on here that much anymore because I've just lost interest in social networking in general. So I thought I would just sum up recent events in one blog.
I'm going to SmackDown/ECW/Superstars once again tonight at the Nassau Coliseum, great stuff to look forward to as always when they come to this area. Gotta go now, don't really even have a minute more to spare.
If any of you will be sitting in section 203 row J tonight for Judgment Day, you will most likely see one or two seats empty. Those of you in the Chicago area are familiar with the Engelhardt family tragedy that occured on April 17th. Laura Engelhardt was a dear friend of mine, she had bought those tickets excited about her first WWE show since WrestleMania 22, but now that she along with her father and grandmother have passed away, she obviously will not be able to be there tonight.
Please keep the Engelhardt family in your thoughts and prayers tonight.
”…This tainted love you've given I give you all a girl could give you Take my tears and that's not nearly all Oh...tainted love Tainted love
Now I know I've got to Run away I've got to Get away You don't really want any more from me To make things right You need someone to hold you tight And you think love is to pray But I'm sorry I don't pray that way
Once I ran to you (I ran) Now I'll run from you This tainted love you've given I give you all a girl could give you Take my tears and that's not nearly all Oh...tainted love Tainted love
Don't touch me please I cannot stand the way you tease I love you though you hurt me so Now I'm going to pack my things and go…”
I feel that classic song is a great interlude to what I have to say.
I hope the Raw divas winning the divas match this week is not a foreshadowing of the draft next week. There have been rumors that Vince wants to suck the life out of SD and put it on Raw. That’s why I’m worried about the draft this year, I don’t think there needs to be one, because I think they are going to undo a lot of the great things they did last year. You could blame it on people like this guy at my job who says “OhSD sucks!” when he hasn’t even watched it in 2 years (so how would he even know whether it’s good or bad when he hasn’t even watched it in so long?) *rolling eyes*.
If they are so concerned about ratings, who was the genius who decided to move it to Fridays? (That’s why the guy at my job doesn’t watch, he said if it was still on Thursdays, then he would watch it, that was the perfect time for it). This is why I hate the Nielsen ratings system so much, it’s so inaccurate because only the viewership of those with Nielsen ratings boxes in their house are counted and then they make some exaggerated totally inaccurate estimate from that (industry professionals have been pushing for a more accurate way to measure ratings for years now). Don’t punish the fans who are actually loyal viewers. And apparently not everyone even gets MyNetworkTV anyway, I hate it when Vince jumps the gun like that and overreacts, SD has been breaking records for MyNetworkTV, he's never satisfied. His expectations aren't always very realistic.
Recently they had enough great talent on their rosters to have each brand stand on it’s own two feet, but instead of even trying to come up with something for them, they release them instead. And then they are at a loss for match ideas so they have WrestleMania opponents facing each other as many as 3 times before the actual PPV. And WWE wonders why so many people were incredibly underwhelmed and unfazed by this year’s WrestleMania. People could see it coming from a mile away that they put little to no effort into it this year. So if they don’t care, how do they expect the audience to care?
It takes a lot for me to change my tune, because it doesn’t happen often, and while I’m not a part of the infection that longs for the overrated…er..um…I mean the attitude era to comeback, I do think that they have officially gone overboard with the PG thing. The “extreme rules” match at WrestleMania could hardly be called extreme, because now they are phasing out the blood. They were quickly putting towels on Matt to hide his blood. And apparently they are now editing blood out of WWE 24/7. They are really getting ridiculous with the editing things out. With the Benoit thing, that’s actually a valid reason. But trying to erase history, what the hell is going on here? You’re worried about dwindling ratings, that’s because the action is dwindling, people are BORED! Is this wrestling or is this slowly becoming Sesame Street now? When I was a kid, I saw blood in matches, and now I’m 26, and I’ve never made anyone bleed. Watching blood on TV has never given me the urge to hurt someone. I have something called common sense and a mind of my own.
I was on board with the PG thing when it meant getting more creative with the characters and not using crude and sexual humor as a quick fix for storylines, and doing away with the pointless diva search and playboy garbage, but not the actual wrestling, without the wow factor, how do you expect people to care? It’s bad enough that moves are being restricted and banned left and right.Apart from competing with WCW, the other part of the reasoning for the attitude era was that my generation had grown up. So has WWE forgotten that? Kids do eventually grow up. When the children of this generation grow up, are they going to be tossed aside as well? And they also need to realize, that a vital part of their target audience are young adults like myself with the most disposable income.
I feel that WWE needs to be more loyal to the fans that have been loyal to them for years, and even a life time.
