    Tuesday Morning RAW hangover thoughts

Tuesday, December 16, 2008, 06:35 AM EST [General]

I was amused at Deuce changing his name to Sim Snuka and then Cole and Lawler acting like they were dumb founded and were wondering if he would lie about such a thing. Perhaps that would be the case if they ever went with that Vinnie Vegas type of character he was supposed to have, but considering he's on the famous family's dvd they put out I would imagine he is telling the truth. But I'm guessing no one in the WWE actually watches anything they put out if Cole and Lawler are that confused

Best part was the crowd popping for Jimmy's name and then going back to not knowing who the hell Deuce is. But thats what they get for bringing someone back who hadn't been seen or used in ages and then expect people to know who he is.

Rey's match with him was interesting, but the crowd was just dead for it.

Knox's continuing beef with cruiserweights seems interesting, of course the whole crowd still being confused who he is isn't helping his cause. But I guess they have to do this until Bourne comes back and beats him.

As for the rest of the show, the Kane/Kelly thing was so random. Personally when he said when we have to talk I was kinda hoping it was something about a one night stand they had. Anything that leads to another black wedding is all good in my book.

The rest of the show was just so random and not really there. I mean the Jericho thing could be interesting if it leads to a match with Duggan where he proves he's still a somebody to Jericho but I doubt they will do that.

As for the main event, haven't we seen this same match a few times all ready? I dozed off by the end of it but thats usually my level of interest in anything involving Batista.

On a side note, JBL continues to bring the awesome and this whole thing with HBK is going to be fun to watch. It's one of those suspension of belief deals because I find it hard to believe Shawn pissed all his money away especially considering he's one of the top guys in the WWE right now. But aside from that, it should be fun to see HBK with JBL.

Personally I hope we get a moment where JBL makes HBK do commercials for his Layfield Energy stuff. Seeing Shawn have to shill it like he shills the DX stuff will be fun to watch.

Kozlov needs to destroy Triple H

Saturday, November 15, 2008, 02:04 AM EST [General]

I haven't blogged here in a while, but while watching Smackdown tonight I was once again inspired to post something.

They had the "contract signing" between Triple H and Kozlov and I thought the end of it was great with Jeff Hardy continuing to be insane, but what annoyed me to no end was the start of it with Triple H doing his lame smart ass schtick. I mean calling Kozlov a disco commie was rather stupid but then again that was probably the best they could come up with.

What annoyed me was his little UN bit and rattling off fat jokes about Vickie Guerrero.  Yes the character of Vickie Guerrero is annoying especially with her EXCUSE ME line. But she's by far the best heel in the WWE as the heat she gets is down right nuclear. But of all the days the pick to do this is has to be the day the show airs after the anniversery of Eddie's death.

You would think for all the money they've made off Eddie and will continue to they would have a tad more respect for his widow.

I know it probably won't happen, but I hope Kozlov destroys Triple H. Just dismantle him and put Triple H in his place once and for all.

DO IT FOR THE SMARKS KOZLOV!!!

I know why the RAW rating tanked this week

Wednesday, September 17, 2008, 03:44 PM EST [General]

I don't write blogs on here to often because usually I don't have much to say. Most of the time I hold off anything worth while for my column thats posted elsewhere around the internet, but occasionally I figure some gems are worth going up early.

In case you haven't heard, RAW pulled a 2.6 rating this week. Sure some will argue it was up against Monday Night Football. TNT has The Closer and their new show Raising The Bar, plus there's about 200 other channels with stuff on. The reason why RAW's rating tanked is very simple.

RAW tanked because IT SUCKED. RAW was horrible this week. Aside from the cage match (which should have gone on last...you know build the whole show up to it) there was not one thing of worth on the show this week. Rey and Kane had a decent match but other then that the whole show was ****.

Now as much as I like Adamle being put in power, I think the WWE have squandered him so far. Instead of having him as some power mad crazed leader they have him as generic and dumb as possible. His overall tone hurts the show so much and the half hapsard way they built up to the end of the show with HBK getting the title shot just looked so dumb.

The lone bright spot on the show was the JBL/Orton/Santino promo but that got ruined the moment BATISTA had to come out. As a face, Batista has the draw and personality of a door knob. Turn him heel for the love of God all ready.

RAW needs a major overhaul right now (as does Smackdown and ECW) but if things continue on their current pace, ratings will continue to fall. It's only a matter of time before people who tune in by force of habit stop tuning in at all. It's a shame though, Jericho deserves a huge run and success right now. I just hope you people don't panic and do something stupid and take the belt off him to soon.

I actually watched most of ECW tonight

Wednesday, August 20, 2008, 03:31 AM EST [General]

Yeah I know I said ECW is dead to me and it is, but just because it's dead doesn't mean I won't still look at it. Truth be told I only was watching cause I didn't feel like watching the entire Bob Saget roast replay and the Yankees game was all ready over.

It's a good thing ECW is moving to 9PM because once the fall season starts, 10 PM is required viewing time for me of Law & Order SVU. There's also The Sheild but FX wisely replays that. But just because its on at 9 PM is no guarentee I'll actually watch it because most of these shows are hit and miss (much like the Mets bullpen).

I only really wanted to see Hardy vs. Henry because after the abortion at Summerslam they owed us a match and it was pretty good for the most part. I mean Mark Henry can only do so much before he starts sucking wind. The crowd was down right nuclear for Matt Hardy tonight so that was great to see. It's clear to see why ECW's ratings are up a staggering 50% with Matt on the show.

But it annoyed the hell out of me that once again Mark Henry survived another week as champion. I mean we all know why he became champion, but that token reign should have passed a while ago. I know ECW has a minimal roster, but I don't know how much longer they can possibly draw this out. Obviously Matt has to get his one more title shot and logic dictates he would win it then. I guess they have to throw something on the next PPV as if it isn't a train wreck all ready.

On a side note Ricky Ortiz as the clueless idiot who thinks he's hot **** is a great gimmick. I applaude that section that had the rally towels. More people need to bring those to shows.

And the debut of Shawn Spears...excuse me Gavin Spears. Lord knows we the lowly fan would get confused easily if there were two wrestlers with the same first name.

"His name is Shawn, but he's not HBK...". It was a good promo by Gavin though. I loved the "But I have talent" line.

If you want to understand why ECW is the way it is and alot of the WWE for that matter and why we simple wrestling fans will never see a show with more wrestling then entertainment, watch this clip of a shoot interview with Steve Corino and Terry Funk.

I might be a lowly Internet columnist, but even if I had a promotion I would entrust my television to guys like them over someone who just had a good degree any day of the week.

Random thoughts for 5 in the morning

Saturday, August 16, 2008, 05:18 AM EST [General]

So I'm sitting here plotting another column for those pesky wrestling news sites, but I have some other stuff on my mind wrestling wise.

I watched most of Smackdown tonight and it was very meh to be honest. Only matches I really dug were Hardy/Benjamin and Kozlov vs. Festus.

Kozlov/Festus was a great brawl and I would actually pay to watch them just beat the **** out of each other. Kozlov is quickly becoming my favorite part of Smackdown. Ironic considering I hate the Russians and even more ironic we're inching towards nuclear war with them. But hey that only means Kozlov will be getting nuclear heat (no pun intended...or maybe I did).

I was dissapointed and pissed to hear that Stevie Richards, Colin Delany and Cherry were all canned. ECW is in desperate need of needing talent and you can half the roster in a month. Granted Stevie would always get jobbed out and they only hired Colin to have him get trounced every week, but its better then the other no names they keep calling up.

Speaking of no names, why the hell is Colt Cabana now Scott Goldman? I would love to know who comes up with these names. I would love to know why Vince signs off on said names.

Colt Cabana you can market. Scott Goldman sounds like a tax attorney.

And Cherry...poor innocent Cherry. Damn you all to hell.
