The WWE's move to MyNet caused me to do something last night that I haven't done in years. I actually scrounged around Arkham(my nickname for my current residence) and found a VHS tape to record the WrestleMania special.
You see growing up in the 80's I recorded every wrestling show & event on TV, I have an entire Clash of the Champions collection detiorating on the magnetic tape that is VHS, that I actually pressed pause at commercial breaks to preserve the integrity of the boroadcast.
I'm 36 now & been thru a lot in my life but I haven't recorded wrestling since the demise of WCW in 2001.
No coincedence that was the year Cassidy my first daughter was born. I picked the name Cassidy because I figured that if she grew up to become the WWE Womens Champion that the guys in marketing would'nt have to work too hard on a name for her.
She was born a day after the tragedy of 9/11 and I had her Mother hold her up in front of the TV a few days later when WWE presented the first assembly of its kind in the US after the events of 9/11...SmackDown. It was the first show she ever saw.
SmackDown has always held a strange signifigance in my life but thats another blog for another day.
The point is after all these years I've remained a fan of Sports Entertainment, it's the one constant in my life than spans the last 26 years of my 36 year old life.
Even now I'm watching the recording of of the show and since I used an old tape it has a lot of Vertical Roll..oh well.
The WWE is an amazing thing, it has such a power and presence in my life and I know the majority of you reading this can identify with that statement.
I'll talk about my involvement at WrestleMania 24 in my next post too.
Yes I was there.
