A Long Strange Trip Part 1

Sunday, February 1, 2009, 09:16 PM EST [General]

It's been a while since my last post and a lot has happened.

A week before my birthday I got pulled over by law enforcement for turning left at a right only sign.

No big deal you say? Well I'd been driving since late October with a suspended drivers license and a non-valid tag.  Since the stop occured across the State Road from the site of my employer at the time(more on that later) the Trooper was kind enough to let me park my car there in lieu of impounding it.  I wasn't driving alone, I was with a certain platinum haired female associate of mine and we decided to sit in that parking lot for exactly three minutes before she got behind the wheel and pulled back onto the US Hwy.  You guessed it..the Trooper was pulling onto the same(but a different one from the inital stop) highway! We made some evasive maneuvers and we eluded him.  While we were in an undisclosed location, my cell phone rings and it's a call form my employer...or so I thought until I answered it and it was a very angry Trooper asking me my whereabouts.  Since I'm a firm believer in the right to not incriminate ones self I didn't divulge my location.  He then told me he'd see me the next time I had to report to work..gulp! he was on my trail.  Well to make a long story short I drove to Tampa the next day in someone elses car and got sick from some bad Mickey D's and was unable to even call into my job and tell them how bad off I was until 5:45pm(I get off at 6pm)...needless to say after five years I was no longer a member of tone of the coolest places around.

And that's in my next post..along with details on my trip thru the old Georgia & Mid-Atlantic territories in the coming weeks...maybe I could sleep on your couch and you could offer me percocet?

    VHS + MyNet =Memories

Friday, October 3, 2008, 03:14 PM EST [General]

The WWE's move to MyNet caused me to do something last night that I haven't done in years.  I actually scrounged around Arkham(my nickname for my current residence) and found a VHS tape to record the WrestleMania special.

You see growing up in the 80's I recorded every wrestling show & event on TV, I have an entire Clash of the Champions collection detiorating on the magnetic tape that is VHS, that I actually pressed pause at commercial breaks to preserve the integrity of the boroadcast.

I'm 36 now & been thru a lot in my life but I haven't recorded wrestling since the demise of WCW in 2001.

No coincedence that was the year Cassidy my first daughter was born.  I picked the name Cassidy because I figured that if she grew up to become the WWE Womens Champion that the guys in marketing would'nt have to work too hard on a name for her.

She was born a day after the tragedy of 9/11 and I had her Mother hold her up in front of the TV a few days later when WWE presented the first assembly of its kind in the US after the events of 9/11...SmackDown.  It was the first show she ever saw.

SmackDown has always held a strange signifigance in my life but thats another blog for another day.

The point is after all these years I've remained a fan of Sports Entertainment, it's the one constant in my life than spans the last 26 years of my 36 year old life.

Even now I'm watching the recording of of the show and since I used an old tape it has a lot of Vertical Roll..oh well.

The WWE is an amazing thing, it has such a power and presence in my life and I know the majority of you reading this can identify with that statement.

I'll talk about my involvement at WrestleMania 24 in my next post too.

    Yes I was there.
