Well, I just looked at the Slammy Awards results, and I'm pretty much satifisfied with the results, I mean... I've seen many people affronted by some winners, but let's face it, most of them were really well given(notice I said most), and I just can't help but putting my opinion on the categories and its winners:
Breakout of the year: Vladimir Koslov
Hello?!?!? can you spell OBVIOUS??? well, it's O-B-V-I-O-U-S!!! really, the man's STILL undefeated, has gotten himself in matches with the likes of the Undertaker, Triple H and many more of the great, great names in the industry in less than a year. True, we love Kofi Kingston, and we adore his fighting style, but Vlad's had a most absolute BOOM kind of entrance.... and realy, what had Ted really done this time??? There's only one thing I don't like about this, though.... doesn't Koslov have any other facial expression that doesn't look like he just ate something very, very sour??? Is he always with that look on his face?? won't he ever smile?? I mean, he's bound to have another look... like, having sex, maybe... its not normal to always look like you're constipated.... well, that's just me guessing.
Best rapping moment
Well, i'm a little dissapointed here... I mean, I was crying in laughter when I heard Jhony and the Miz, not to mention Santino's rapping, I mean, really, it don't get any bigger than that, but let's face it, give it up to anyone but R-truth would be like saying elves are better at digging gold than dwarfs, or something like that (LOTR fan, ppl... understand me). And when it come down to it, Santino, Edge and the tags was a momentun thing, R-truth's gotta do the rapping in each entrance, therefore takes a bit more of a musical thing to work.... so, well served, R-truth!! congrats on your Slammy!!
Best impersonation
Great God.... can somebody pa-lease go and hit Charlie Haas over the head?!?!? I love his impersonations, but acting like the Glamazone!?!?!? man... that dude's got some real big round stuff hanging between his legs... and really, the slammy's would go to him anyway, so... why not give it to the weirder of his impersonations??
Best tag team of the year
I was so shocked when they didn't even nominated Dx for this category, but when I saw the nominees, I jst had two words for them!! : BE JEALOUS!! Really, the priceless team?? nah!! pa-lease, those two only got insulted by Orton all year, and barely had the titles, Cryme Tyme's cool, but it's not like they got that loooonng history and experience, and Carlito and Primo are also just beginning, at least when it comes to WWE... Jhon and the Miz are a proved tag team, they were champs for a long while, and though carlito & primo took it from them, they still got more shine and style together than the other tag teams.
Extreme moment of the year
Asking a few questions now.... note: its not abot the year, but WWE-WWF history involved...
1. How many times has someone fallen of a ladder and into tables?? Well, just about in every TLC match
2. How many times has someone being bashed into a car?? In most fall count anywere matches, or hardcore match where wrestlers end up in a parkin lot
3. How many times has a Superstars head been smashed against a strange, potential cutting object?? More times than we can count.
4. Now.... how many times have we SEEN someone jumping off such a high platform, and land on someone, just to hurt that person, and this happening outside an official WWE fight?!?! Let me think... I don't remember... we all saw Jeff jumping off a 20 feet ladder, then that jump onto Mercury that broke a ladder, and that spectacular elbow by Shane McMahon from the raw giant screen... but they were all matches, right?? it was spectacular!! And, I don't want to like, minimize the other extreme moment nominees, I mean, they were breathtaking, but damn!! Jeff Hardy's taken so many risks this year alone, the man should be be crowned extreme king.... remember the Whisper in the Wind from the top of the cage??? Jeff EARNT each and every little gr of that Slammy.
Couple of the year...
EXCUSE ME!!!
Can we do it again?? yes?? well, on three... one... two... three.. O-B-V-I-O-U-S!!! I mean, it's not about humor, it's not about paternal afiliation, its not about a strange deal between the parts... its just about how much the couple gets under our skin!! I think, these two are just about the MOST hated couple in the histroy of the WWE, closely followed by the days when Triple H was married to Stephanie, and even then we actually sort of respected the game, cause he really was That Damned Good. This two were a headache after headache after headache!
Diva of the year...
*sigh*
well, if it were up to ME, i'd gladly give it to Melina... but, since she wasn't in the show a good deal of the year, I can't really complain, can I?? Now... getting real:
Whether you like it or not, Beth Phoenix was the girl for this Slammy. Not only because there hasn't been a more dominate Diva in Raw this year(noice how long she's been champion, and how she's always beating Mickie), not only because she's been a companion to one of the most humorous superstars since The Rock, but also because... really, Michelle McCool?!?! KIelly Kelly?!?!? Come on!! I mean, two years ago, those two were the perfect models, and could barely fight their way out of the ring, let alone be consired a whole WWE Diva. Don't get me wrong, they HAVE improved, and Michelle's been a right champion, but really... when she got the title, any other could've been a better champ, have more skill and hone for it, and neither Kelly nor Michelle is better prepared, knowledgeable or dominant than the Glamazon
OMG moment of the year
Let's be honest, people... let's really be 100% honest... who didn't think OMG!!! when Cm Punk cashed his money in the bank?!?!? that was completely surprising, a change of titles in a non PPV event?!?!? Who would ever thought?? and how degrating to Edge....
Also... another nominee: Edge comeing back for the triple threath.. omg, the total frustation I felt. I pesonally wanted the Undertaker to win, but now that I think about it... I can't really see good old Taker (no pun intended) taking a Slammy Award... Floyd, pa-lease, give me a break, the fact that he invated our territory deserved more of an OMG than braking Big Show's nose... I mean, the man could trip and brake it himself, right??? (a boxer in the WWE??? that's so... argh! get bloody Mike Tyson if you want challenge, but don't get into our yard!!)
Match of the year
Well, I can't say surprised here. My brain goes out to the Hell in a Cell match, but when it comes down to it, the HBK vs. Ric wins out my heart. The other nominess were ten times more exciting in a physical aspect of things, there were more mouth-gaping-opened moments in most of them, but seing Ric Flair, the Natur boy, dirtiest player in the game in his last match?!?! that's priceless, really. It just can't get any bigger, or emotional than that... pity JBL ruined recieving the slammy.
Damn moment of the year
Alright, alright, alright... We got the big, bad, fearsome, terrifying, hateful punjab giant!!!!.... turning into the punjab playboy an Casanova?!?!? DAMN!!!
But really, deal with it... Santino attempting to do Melina's entrance... that was freaking hilarous, I laugh just to think about it. That WAS the greatest Damn moment of the year!! hundreds of Superstars change of attitude from night to morning, but a guy trying to make a split to get in the ring?!?! that's a once in a lifetime thing.
Superstar of the year
Here is when the devil and his demons got together with Christ, some angels, and went to a bar to get drunk and play poker... meaning, this category was tough as hell!! When I saw it, I was like: What!?!?! Chris I-sa-ymy-own-derriere Jericho?!?! You gotta be kidding me!!! Then I sat down, thought about it, and I really liked WWE's desicion, and I'l tell you why right now:
Batista.... well, for all the great star he is, I don't really like him, but he's been all year just asking for a title shot, and losing titles, and the uncrowned champ, and... he's not innovating!!! he always got this same flow, the same speech, the animal bla bla bla... Batista hasn't really done much to getting superstar of the year.
Edge... yeah, we hate him. Yeah, he's been a constant in WWE. Yeah, he's been such a pain lately!!! it's like, there's no limit to how much we can dislike him, but really... based on what?? Edge had barely seen action, he's been the typical bad guy with a high placed guardian angel; there's no glory in that!! he spent half the year saying 'the love of my life', the other in a jacuzzi, giving flowers, or running from however wanted his title... that ain't WWE!!
Jeff Hardy... *sigh* oh, how I love him.. he's just so... *sigh* well, we've seen the changes in him, seen his extreme moments, and he's been in a lot of PPV, great matches and done amazing things... so, why not give him the Slammy?? why not have him reach the top?? Why hasn't the WWE upraised the man?!?!!? His drug-indulging history's the answer. I think he's still got a leash on him, because of that, and the suspension she got this year,a nd that is so dissapointing.. I so do want to see Jeff with the title, have a brotherhood of champions, and have it all stay in the family. You, go Jeff!!! YOU ROCK!!
Jhon Cena... I hate him. Yeah, I do. I really can't stand him. I know he's a great superstar, a passion awakener, a mass man, and all... but I can't take him. Now, I was shocked he didn't get it, because he's such a good guy, and he's one of WWE's sweetheart lately, but then I thought... man, they can't give a Slammy to someone who hasn't even bee there most the time. Really, Cena should've gotten Injured of the year, should that Slammy exist. Oh, I'm gonna create it now... Here you go, Jhon... Please brake a leg, go home and never come back again
Triple H... Most love him, some hate him, but we all respect him. He's the game, the cerebral assasin, knows all the rules, and those he doesn't he make it up or writes them down! so, why not give him the award?!? he's had nice storylines, was a champ for several months, good at the mic, damn funny moments, was in good matches.. so, why wasn't he superstar of the year??? I'll tell you why... Chris Jericho
Shut you mouth, and let me talk now... Chris Jercho has been one of the most ever-present superstars this year.. from his return, to his fights with Orton, his brawl with Michaels, the sudden change in attitude, hitting HBK's wife, then getting the tittle, now messing with Jhon Cena, its like this year, Raw has completely been Jericho!! And unlike Batista, or Jeff, when he grabs a mic, you just cant help but feel like he's talking right at you!! like your heart's about to pop out of your chest, the man is a master at touching the fans' feelings. Unlike Cena, he's been THERE, always, giving us wrestling quality in factory amounts all throught the year, and unfortunately for Triple H... Chris just outdid the man.
Well, that's my opinion on the Slammy Awards, I know I skipped some nominations, but I just feel like I can't put an opinion on those, since I don't see ECW much (schedule problems), only watch the Dirt Sheet and Santino's Casa... but the Awards in general were really well given, and those who won it, deserve it!! Congrats on a wonderful edition of the Slammy Awards!!!
