    Waste of Talent

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 12:30 AM EST [General]

Hey everyone. My first blog post and I've got a few things to rant about, all concerning with how the WWE seems to waste their time, effort, and money on the wrestlers and divas that do not deserve it while the actual wrestlers and divas with talent get shoved to the side or released, for that matter, simply because the writers can't think of anything to do with the character.

    1. Festus, a pretty good athlete bogged down by a tired, played-out gimmick. The man can wrestle, plain and simple. He has that country boy wrestlin' style (anyone remember the Godwins?) and yet he has quite a bit of intensity. So how do we make someone of this caliber continually looked down upon? Make him a headcase that is basically a walking vegetable unless a bell rings? Get the hell outta here! Hook him up with a decent gimmick and let him show his ability.

    2. Jamie Noble, a wrestler built for a cruiserweight division that no longer exists. Why rid the company of a cruiserweight title? Imagine a few of the smaller guys (Noble, Kendrick, Mysterio) chasing that title? Those would be even matches where each could show off their abilities without being overshot or squash matches. Remember what they told Benoit about his height and look how far he went (demise not included).

    3. Cherry, a normal, beautiful woman, without all the whoring and tan lines. The WWE finally had a diva that wasn't stick thin, held her own, was getting over with the crowd, and was damn good looking and what do they do? Let her go. On what grounds? I don't buy the "she wasn't thin enough excuse." Do you remember the bikini contest? Tell me she's fat and I will slap you. She had a great figure, a very innocent personality, improving wrestling skills and the fans were behind her. Normally you don't fire people that the crowds enjoy unless certain circumstance arise (drug use, steroids, etc.) Just another way to show girls across America that unless you are a model, you have no chance. That's right, girls. You better start training to become a Maryse lookalike or you'll be rejected.

    4. Val Venis, a former main eventer turned jobber. Someone please tell me how one of the biggest stars in the Attitude era can be sh!tted on for no reason? The very few matches that have been televised this year have shown the crowd on his side. Can't they let him win once in awhile? Sure he isn't in the shape he was but neither is Hacksaw and he still gets victories once in awhile. Hook a brother up.

Okay, I'm done complaining for now. Anyone have any thoughts, let me know.

I like your idea of a cruiserweight title because not all wrestlers are big and buff. Some are just smaller but still wrestle well. I hate to see a wrestling match where the wrestlers are so mismatched ie:(Kahli vs Jeff Hardy).
I too was enjoying Cherry in the Diva pool and am sad she was released. Maybe WWE staff needs to ADD more writers to FIND storylines for the newer wrestlers. Not all wrestlers are going to be loved or hated. I like watching wrestlers I haven't seen before in matches in between the bigger names. Maybe if too many of the big name wrestlers wind up out with injuries, WWE will wise up, because they won't have anyone left to wrestle!

thats kinda funn because we were just kinda talking about them giving the wrong people title shots. and i completely agree with many of the points, the festus point, the cherry point, and the jamie noble point. i mean.. i thought i was the going crazy when i realized there was no cruiserweight division. and i loved cherry, she was beautiful and did actually improve with every match!!
