Hello everyone and welcome, once again, to another My Opinion on... Tonight, I take a couple special requests, then I will address something from last week's Under The Mat Trivia Game.
First, for my friend, Sharon at http://fans.wwe.com/bondgirl0072 Since I've done a previous My Opinion on Mike Adamle, this will be short. REALIZE that ALL GM's on EVERY SHOW are nothing more than figure heads. They are all, nothing but ACTORS, playing a role. NO decission, said to be made by a GM, is ACTUALLY made by that GM. ALL decissions are SOLELY made by the WWE Creative Team and written into the scripts. So it doesn't matter how good Mike Adamle actually is or could be, NONE of his decissions or matches(including his Adamle Originals) ARE NOT made by him. Just like when you go to McDonald's, Ronald McDonald doesn't make or bag your food. But My personal opinion on Adamle is that he doesn't know the difference between a wristlock and a wristwatch. His days as an ECW announcer proved that.
Now for my friend, kat at http://fans.wwe.com/ktty Thanks for asking My Opinion on The Undertaker, this is actually 1 that I've never had a request for. I first learned of, and started watching Taker in 1989 in WCW, as a member of a short lived tag team, in which he was a replacement for an injured "Psycho" Sid Vicious, called The Skyscrapers(as in the pic above). I thought they were awesome and would dominate the sport, but for unknown reasons, Dangerous Dan Spivey left the group and WCW would not renew Mark's contract in 1990, after losing to both Lex luger and Sting. But that was Ted Turner for you. Great buisness man, but as dumb as a rock, when it came to wrestling sense. Taker's finishing move, then, was the heart punch. I became aware that he had wrestled in World Class, CWA and USWA, where he actually won his 1st World Title, the USWA World Title, from Jerry "The King" Lawler.
Taker came to WWE and many fans don't realize, but he ACTUALLY debuted as Cain, the Undertaker. He played the character of the Undertaker, better than EVER expected. He was and still is a GREAT in-ring performer. Several specialty matches were created for his character, including the casket match, the broiler room brawl match, the burried alive match, the hell in a cell match, and the inferno match. Contrary to what many WWE fans think, Kane IS NOT his brother, even though the WWE storyline(kayfabe) says so. I never really cared for his "American Badd A*S" gimmick, as for me, he'll always be The Dead Man!(as in the pics above.) He is truly a legend, who has had some of the greatest matches ever, against some of the biggest names in the last 20 years. I would love to see 1 more WWE title run from him. A true dominant run. He's the last of a dying breed. When he came up, champions still defended their titles nightly and weekly, not just once a month, like today's champions. So here's to The Undertaker, Mark Calaway. Hope your Real Estate business continues to do well. Thank you for the memories and continue giving us more.
Several of you messaged me about Ultimo Dragon, an answer to 1 of my questions from last week's Under The Mat Trivia Game. Some of you said that WWE(WWF) did not recognize him as a WWF Light Heavyweight Champion. NO WWE DOES NOT recognize him, however WWE(WWF) CREATED the original title in 1981. At the time, American fans didn't care for lightweights. So they introduced the title in Japan and allowed the Universal Wrestling Association to rent AND USE it. The ENTIRE time it was ALLOWED by WWF to be rented and used, the World Wrestlig Federation name was CLEARLY marked AND trademarked on the belt. It was just like when the NWA World title was rented to the Mid-Atlantic territory in the 80's and to TNA in the early to mid 00's. That would be like NWA now saying they don't recognize any of Ric Flair's title reigns. WWE(WWF) gave the ok, for the title to be rented AND used. They even gave the ok on the champions that won it. They didn't stop recognizing those champions until years later, after the fact. Like if they said now that Iron Sheik was never the WWF World Champion, even though Hulk Hogan won his 1st championship from him. They can say they don't recognize them, but they CANNOT erase history. Some of us will ALWAYS remember. Ultimo Dragon won the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship, as part of the J Crown Championship. The J-Crown (also known as J-Crown Championship) was formed originally by New Japan Pro Wrestling as a way of unifying eight non-heavyweight titles from several different organizations. It was 8 belts and existed from August 5, 1996-October 5, 1997. It was disbanneded when WWF asked for their belt back, receiving it on October 5. 1997. Here are EACH TITLE and COMPANY they represented :
Below is Ultimo Dragon AS the J Crown Champion after also winning the WCW Cruserweight Title and the NWA Middleweight Title, which he owned all AT THE SAME TIME.
Hi again everyone. Welcome to another edition of My Opinion on... Tonight, I give you My Opinion on Ron "The Truth" Killings. I hear many of you say he's just a John Cena " wanna be" and that his whole "Hip-Hop" gimmick is purely based on Cena. Well you all couldn't be FURTHER from the truth. Cena's hip-hop gimmick was ENTIRELY based on Killings. Cena's rap album was stricly a WWE gimmick, to endear him to the younger fans and was released in 2005. He was a wrestler who turned, hip hop artist. What most of you don't know is, R-Truth is a hip-hop artist who turned wrestler. He IS the real deal. Before becoming a wrestler, he performed rap shows, as the opening act for such old shool hip-hop artists as 3rd Base and MC Lyte. His first album "InVINCEable" was released in 2001 and was a direct statement to Vince McMahon for releasing him from the WWF(WWE) earlier in the year. So right there, He rapped in WWE in 2001 and released an album in 2001. So how is he a Cena "wannabe", when he was the original? He's a true hip-hopper, not just a "Company Manufactured" gimmick.
Now as for his in-ring performance and skills. He is an absolute great performer. Many guys will get in the ring, being happy with ONLY performing there "Move Set", their usual signature moves and finisher. Happy to never learn a new move. I mean God forbid if some of these "Main Eventers" learn a new move. R-Truth on the other hand, is the total opposite. He's 1 of the few guys that CONSTANTLY learns and performs new moves. 1 of his wickedest moves he does, just not often, is a vertical suplex, in which he falls to a seated position, dropping his opponent into a stunner/cutter. If you take the time to watch any of his matches, you'll regulary be introduced to new innovative and exciting moves. He's been WWE(WWF) Hardcore Champion twice, NWA/TNA World Tag Team Champion 3 times, NWA/TNA World Champion twice, winning his 1st world title from UFC legend and former WWF(WWE) Superstar, Ken Shamrock, as well as holding numerous other regional indy championships. So again, Ron "The Truth" Killings IS THE REAL DEAL. I don't particularly care for ANY "Wrestling Hip-Hop" gimmicks, but I truly enjoy watching his skills and in-ring performances. Now that's the truth. Lol. As always, that's my opinion. What's yours?
Hello frieinds and Fan Nation. This is my first My Opinion on... in a while. Many of you know that I've been out of commission for about a week and a half. From now on after today, my My Opinion on... blogs will come out every Tuesday and Saturday. Many of you have asked for my opinion on Chris Jericho nailing Rebecca Michaels at SummerSlam. Well people, first of all, REALIZE it was a work, WRITTEN into tha storyline by script writers. Jericho ONLY did what the WWE writers told him to do. But playing off of that, I totally disagree with and am against any form of male on female violence. I feel, even though it was a work, that Jericho should make a formal and personal appology to Mrs. Michaels and her children ONLY.
All of you blame Jericho for Rebecca being hit. In NO WAY, was that his fault. Every time I ever stepped into a ring, I had to sign a waiver basically stating that I could not hold anyone resposible for anything that happened to me in the ring. My safety was MY SOLE responsibilty. Now I've never worked for WWE but I'm sure they do the same. Meaning that Shawn alone, brought his wife into the ring and Shawn alone, should've been man enough to protect her. Go back and look at the video. You had Rebecca on 1 side, Jericho on 1 side, and HBK between them.
Now MYSELF, if I had my woman standing behind me and I saw someone draw back to swing, especially someone who had just put a beating on me like Jerich had put on Shawn, PERSONALLY I would have to be a man and just have to eat that punch. Under NO circumstances would I let my woman take it. But in true HBK fashion, Shawn did exactly what we knew and expected he would do and showed all of you yet again just what kind of man he is. When he saw the punch coming, he was so much of a man that he dropped to the mat, forcing his wife to take it. Then afterwards, he showed you again how much of a man he was by ALLOWING Jericho to simply walk away. What a man! You know ladies, it's a true shame when you can't even count on your man to keep you safe.
Then Shawn comes out on Raw, as usual, wanting everyone to feel sorry for him. Yet ANOTHER pitty party for HBK. How many more must we see? Now I truly do feel sorry for Rebecca but as for Shawn, Maybe he should've stepped up just once and been a man. She would've NEVER been hit if he hadn't brought her in the ring or dropped when he SAW the punch coming. HBK needs to accept responsibillity for something that was CLEARLY and ONLY his fault. He is a great perfomer. Let him be remembered for his performances, not how many times you guys had to feel sorry for him. Don't blame Jericho for Shawn letting his wife take a punch for him. As for Shawn's comment about Rebecca being tougher than Jericho, well she showed at SummerSlam that she was more of a man than HBK when she STOOD there and took the punch While he watched from his back. As always, that's my opinion. What's yours?
Hi again everyone. Welcome to another edition of My Opinion on... Tonight, I give you My Opinion on the man called Sting. I know I may not get as many viewers as normal, but tonights edition was a request from my friend, timeisnow. I apolagize, but I will always forego readers if any of my friends have concerns or issues they would like my views on or would like me to address. Steve Borden or Sting is a great performer and entertainer. I know personally, he's brought me many hours of entertainment, over the years. As I've said before, I've always been a die hard heel(bad guy) fan. Sting, however for the majority of his career, has been a face(good guy). So I never particularly considered him as one of my top fav's. What he did do however, is have some of the greatest matches ever, against men that I did consider as fav's. Men like Vader, Steve Austin, the Great Muta, Lex Luger, Ravishing Rick Rude, and who could ever forget the legendary epic battles with Ric Flair, over their 13 year on again/off again feud.
Sting started catching the eyes of many people in the industry in 1986 and 1987. The ones that really counted, the promoters and bookers. They knew he could be "the future of the biz." So he got his first big break at the NWA's first big foray into ppv, Starcade '87 : Chi-Town Heat. Which coincidently was the first ppv I ever attended. Then on March 27 1988 at the inaugural Clash of the Champions, a free wresling ppv eqivalent show on TBS, that was going head to head in the same time slot with WWE's ppv, Wrestlemania 4, Sting wrestled NWA World Champion Ric Flair, in the main event. Flair, who at the time, was used a lot to "put over" or make stars out of territorial wrestlers and champions, agreed to put Sting over. After Flair carried Sting to a 45 minute time limit draw in one of the greaest and most remembered matches of all time, needless to say, a star was born. All thanks to Flair.
Now Sting, out of the ring, has always been a deeply religous and family man in the Protestant faith. In fact, he is actively involved in the Church on the Rock in Santa Clarita, California. In 2001, WCW was bought by WWE. WWE would not let Sting out of his Time Warner/AOL contract. So he had the option of either working for WWE or sitting out the remainder of his contract, wich he did. He felt the WWE, at the time(the attitude era), was promoting too much immorality for him to be a part of. With the promoting of beer drinking and tons of ti** and a**(T and A), he just couldn't put his heart into the company. Plus, being a dedicated family man, he didn't want to work the schedule that WWE requires with the travelling and being away from his family.
Today, at the age of 49, as his career winds down, Sting works for TNA, 2 to 3 times a month at their bi-monthly tv tapings and their monthly ppv's. Sting is ABSOLUTELY the greaest wrestler, never to work for WWE. This is a man who never allowed his morals to be corrupted for or by the almighty dollar. And for this, I say THANK YOU STING!!! He has been a 10 time World Heavyweight Champion. 1 time NWA(Jim Crockett Promotions) World Champion, 6 time WCW World Champion, 1 time WWA World Champion(International), 1 time NWA-TNA World Champion, and 1 time TNA World Champion. So even without Vince McMahon or WWE, Sting has had a great career and made a great living, touching the lives of many along the way. He truly did it his way. As always, thats my opinion. What's yours?
I was asked by a friend of mine, McMahon101, to do this topic. So here is My Opinion on Total Non-Stop Action(TNA). TNA is the second best wrestling organization in the U.S. Second ONLY because they do not have the money to compete with WWE. Who does? So simply for this reason, they'll never be first place. But that's fine. With the talent they have, they do just fine in second place. Actually, considering TNA as a brand, as far as PURE WRESTLING goes, TNA is THE TOP BRAND, hands down. Yeah, WWE is the best as far as the entertainment aspect. Again though, ONLY because NO ONE can compete with WWE monetarilly. Think about it. the Knockouts division will outperform the Divas combined, all day, as a whole. Maybe Vince ought to send Maria, Kelly Kelly, the Divas Champ Michelle McCool, and a few others to a TNA show, just to see how it's done. With the exception of MAYBE Nattie Neidhart, there's not one Diva(all three brands) that could take Awesome Kong. TNA's Tag Team division will also outperform WWE's all day. In fact I have one question for WWE or fans. WHAT Tag Team division? Raw's tag champs, Cena & Batista AND Smack Down's Champs, Hawkins and Ryder would get killed by TNA's Tag Champs, LAX. Hawkins & Ryder tagged what, about 4 or 5 times before being given the titles? Cena and Batista, Need I even say anymore, couldn't WRESTLE their way out of a wet paper bag. In fact, not one WWE tag team could beat ANY TNA tag team. The three greatest tag teams in the U.S. currently, in order are LAX(TNA Champs), Beer Money Inc.(TNA), and the Motor City Machine Guns(TNA). Then TNA also has Team 3D, and Christian & Rhyno. Then you add in Abyss and the Beast Matt Morgan and talent wise, TNA FAR surpasses ANY WWE brand. Speaking of the last two, Abyss & Morgan, well Raw's supposed "Big Two," Cena and Batista will NEVER see the day they could match up with Abyss and Morgan, singley or together. Only way Cena OR Batista could beat either one, is MAYBE if they died in the ring from some fluke like lights falling from the rafters or something. In fact, there's not a WRESTLER on TNA's roster that Cena or Batista could outwrestle, including the Knockouts. The ONLY negative I see is the story writng. It is very weak. ONLY because Vince Russo is in charge of writng. We all know he wrote WCW right out of business. Come on TNA, what kind of drugs were you on, when you hired the man that wrote David Arquette into the World Heavyweight Championship. Forever tarnishing that title and the business. So I say WWE will always be the top entertainer, but TNA is the top performer, hands down. With the poor state of Raw AND ECW right now, WWE better be glad TNA doesn't move to Monday or Tuesday nights because WWE would deffinately get embarrassed. That's my opinion. What's yours?
