Hello everyone! Welcome to My Opinion on Jesse and Festus :
My friend matster at : http://fans.wwe.com/ttab Requested my opinion on Festus, but there's really not much on him since he's only been in the business for about 3 years, so I decided to add his current WWE partner, Jesse, as well.
First off, for those few of you who don't know, Festus was hired by WWE and sent to it's (then) developmental territory, Deep South Wrestling as Deacon Deville, then later, the Freakin Deacon. He was originally brought up to Raw and given the gimmick of the Imposter Kane, in mid 2006. He made several attacks on the real Kane, which lead to a match between the 2 of them at the WWE Vengeance pay-per-view in June of 06. Here is that match :
Even though the Imposter Kane (Festus) won, he was destroyed, unmasked (without showing his face), and thrown out of the arena on Raw, the very next night. Festus was sent to another WWE developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling, where he woul work with future partner Jesse, on a gimmick as the Dalton Boys, a southern red-neck type gimmick. Before they were allowed to make their SmackDown debut as The Dalton Boys, they were sent back to OVW to be repackaged in the current "Jesse and Festus" gimmick. Excuse me for saying, but personally, I dont care for the "retard" act. I think it's demeaning and irresponsible of WWE. This could truly be a great team in WWE's Tag team division, which has been lacking for a long while. Festus has the size, ability, and skills to accent the arial and tag abilities of Jesse.
Now Jesse is the son of 1 of the greatest tag team wrestlers of all time! I know this video is dark in spots, but here is a look at Jesse's dad :
For you younger fans, the late Fabulous Freebird, Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy was 1 of the toughest men to ever lace up a pair of wrestling boots. Here is 1 of Terry Gordy's matches. It was in an IWA King of the Death Match tournament, against Cactus Jack (Mick Foley) :
Jesse is a great wrestler, in his own right, from a great wrestler. Together the team of Jesse and Festus could be outstanding, if WWE were to give them the push they need and deserve. Think about it, a powerhouse and a high flyer. Imagine the prospective double team moves. Will they ever drop the "retard" gimmick and get a real push, or wil they ALWAYS be nothing more than a joke, in a DEAD tag team division, that could use ALL the help it can get? It's all up to the WWE. As always, that's my opinion. What's yours?l
Hello everyone and welcome to My Opinion on Survivor Series. Stay tuned afterwards, to take polls on who you want to win. I'm not sure of the order of the matches, but here are my predictions anyway.
1) Team SmackDown vs Team Raw Divas Survivo Series Match - This will be Maryse, Natalya, Victoria, Maria, and Michelle McCool as Captain vs Kelly Kelly, Candice, Jillian, Mickie James, and Beth Phoenix as Captain. Now I'm a big fan of womens WRESTLING, but as we all know, ATLEAST 4 of these participants have no wrestling skills at all, and are ONLY pushed because of their eye candy appeal. Now having said that, we know WWE's usual way of doing things. They will probably either push McCool, since she's only defended her Divas Title once in last 3 or 4 months, or Maria, to set up a future title match (Whenever that may be, maybe she'll defend it again by Royal Rumble.) But I'd have to pick Team SmackDown to win, in which either or both Victoria and/or Natalya SHOULD survive. I donth think the Glamazon will be much of a factor, as I see Santino maybe costing her in the match.
2) Team Batista vs Team Orton - You have R-Truth, Matt Hardy, Kofi Kingsto, Cm Punk and Batista as the Captain vs Mark Henry, Shelton Benjamin, Cody Rhodes, William Regal, and Randy Orton as the Captain. Here I pick Team Batista to win. Surprisingly, I think CM Punk will be the sole survivor.
3) Tem HBK vs Team JBL - Here, you have Cryme Time, Great Khali, Rey Mysterio, and HBK as the Captain vs Miz & Morrison, MVP, Kane, and JBL as the Captain. Here I pick Team JBL to win, with either MVP or JBL to be the sole survivor. I'm leaning towards JBL, simply to set up a JBL vs HBK match at Armageddon, maybe as a #1 contenders match, in which HBK will undoubtably win, to FINALLY get another 1 in the win column.
4) Undertaker vs Big Show in a Casket Matc - Of coarse, here I pick Taker. This was his original match. Plus I feel a push coming for Taker towards a WWE Title match, maybe at WrestleMania, so a win here would go towards maybe setting that in play.
5) HHH vs Koslov vs Jeff Hardy for the WWE Title - OK, i'm sorry for all you Hardy fans, but WWE is ALREADY running promos and commercials for an upcoming house show in Richmond, Va on December 29, with the main event being HHH vs Koslov for the title. Therefore, if jeff was put over and winthe title in this match, he would have to lose it within a few weeks. But I don't see Hardy coming out on top, AGAIN. I do feel Koslov will be the 1 to take the title from HHH, but just not yet. Maybe at the Royal Rumble, to set up a WWE title Match of the undefeateds, Koslov vs Taker. So I pick Triple H to win.
6) Chris Jericho vs John Cena for the WHC - ANY TRUE knowledgable wrestling fan knows that as far as skills and ability, Cena (on his best day) couldn't come anywhere close to touching Jericho (on his worst day). Skill wise, Cena would NEVER deserve to even be in the same ring, or for that matter, the same building as Jericho. But since we all know that WWE is only interested in making that all mighty dollar and selling their Cena merchandise, I feel a travesty will take place, further devaluing the WHC as this is the 3rd UNDESERVING #1 contender in a row, for that title. Why can't Raw ATLEAST let the #1 contenders win atleast a few matches in a 6 month period, before naming them. Even though I'm gonna hate myself for saying this, I pick Cena to win. Now that's my opinion on Survivor Series. Please answer the poll questions below and let me know yours.
In these polls, I want to know, NOT who you THINK will win, but who you WANT to win each match.
Thanks to all of you who took the time to let me know what you want. I will message everyone on my friends list tomorrow, about an hour before Survivor Series, to let you all know what the results are.
Let me begin by saying, we miss you Eddie! You're surely remembered, on this, the week of the 3 year anniversary of us losing you. Thanks for the many memories. My heart goes out to the Guerrero family.
Hello Everyone and welcome to My Opinion on WrestleMania. Actually, the history of Mania. This is a request from my friend The Rock Says This at http://fans.wwe.com/www.synthasite.com First off, I'm a little annoyed. I just read on wikipedia, that 1 of Wrestlemania's nicknames, is "The Grandaddy of Them All." This is a complete and blatent lie. As you all know, Vince McMahonn created WrestleMania. Well, no offense to Vince, because he is truly a shrewd businessman, but his "original thoughts" are very few and far between. Many of you younger fans, may believe he's the begin all/end all of pro wrestling, but us long time "WRESTLING" fans remember some of the copied (stolen) ideas and gimmicks that WWE(WWF) has given us over the years. But you younger fans would not know, because WWE only gives "Their Version" of history, to always make themselves look good. So for my younger readers, here's a little Wrestling History 101. Once upon a time, wrestling was put over by ALL promotions as real. Not "Entertainment". You could actually find wrestling articles in the sports sections of newspapers and television news programs. Before cable tv, yes there was once a time, when there was no cable, wrestling was territorial. Meaning, there were different areas across the nation and globe, who had their own stars and champions. Each area or territory would have their own regular "supershows". The 2 biggest companies, at this time, were the NWA and WWF(WWE). WWF was a single company that promoted shows across the country with their own roster. NWA was a conglomeration af smaller regional companies, from across the globe. In the early 80's, a new concept was introduced, called "Closed Circuit Television". This was the pre-cursor of today's ppv"s. An event would be held at 1 location and be broadcast, via huge screen television, to venues in other cities. As there was yet, no cable, you had to buy a ticket to watch it at your local arena or colliseum. In 1983, the NWA, NOT WWE, came up with the brilliant idea of a yearly wrestling supershow, which would include the BEST wrestlers from companies, all across the nation (whereas WWE would only use talent from their roster). This event was TRULY "The Grandaddy of Them All" and was DEFINATELY not a WWE event or original Idea. It was the NWA's Starrcade 83 : A Flair For The Gold, and was held on Thanksgiving night, 1983. More than a year before WWE's 1st Closed Circuit TV supershow, WrestleMania. In fact by the time WWE had their 1st WrestleMania, NWA had already had a 2nd Starrcade, on Thanksgiving night of 1984. So how can WWE claim it's WresleMania is the Grandaddy of Them All, when there was clearly another annual wrestling supershow in existence, before WM? It may be the grandaddy of all WWE events, but that's it. The WrestleMania series, even though it was, and still is a tremendous yearly event, was started as nothing more than a blatent rip-off (copy) of NWA's Starrcade series. Contrary to what WWE teaches, an annual wrestling supershow WAS NOT a McMahonn original concept.
Now as I've said though, it has become a tremendous yearly event. It is the stage that either propels an upstart talent into super stardom or causes him/her to crash and burn by the wayside. It is also the biggest showcase of the year, for established talent. Its widespread success has helped transform the professional wrestling industry and make the WWE the most successful promotion in North America. All of WWE's television shows are geared to reach their climax at WrestleMania, which features matches for the company's championship titles, as well as specialty and gimmick matches. Participation in a WrestleMania match, and especially the main event, is considered by many wrestlers and fans alike as one of the greatest achievements and symbols of success in professional wrestling. WrestleMania propels the worldwide commercial success of the WWE through merchandise, media and shows. All of the events produced have been sold out within a short period of time, with recent editions being sold out within minutes of tickets going on sale.WrestleMania III, held on March 29, 1987 at the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan, is particularly notable for the reported attendance of 93,173, the largest recorded attendance for a live indoor sporting event in North America and the largest paying crowd in the history of professional wrestling. Personally, I never see another ppv, wether WWE or non-WWE, even coming close to matching or overtaking the yearly success of WWE's WrestleMania. As always, that's my opinion. What's yours?
Hello everyone and welcome to My Opinion on Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling. This was a request from a few weeks ago, by my friend ®TMRandyTM® at http://fans.wwe.com/rileyfan but this is my 1st My Opinion on... in a while. Many others have also asked about this and I told a few of you, but now I'll tell the rest of you. In case any of you haven't seen it or heard of it, it comes on weekly on CMT and here is a promo for it :
Being a former pro wrestler, I was always taught to ALWAYS stick to kayfabe (stick to storyline AS REAL) with the public. Seeing as how WWE has destroyed that by allowing over 98% of you all, to know that it's choreographed and only entertainment, then what's the point. So I think this new reality show is great, as far as, it shows the public some of the training (just not to the extent) we go through. The MANY hours of taking bumps and running the ropes. You see just a glimpse of it. For you all to see us in a 10 minute match, you don't realize the months (some, even years) we had to train, to know just what to do, how to do it, when to do it, and how to make it look good, while doing it. Not to mention, being able to draw heat or pop from the crowd and either get over or put someone else over.
I really think Hogan could've picked SOME better celebrities though. No offense to Frank Stallone, but he's 58. Come on now. For a man, his age, he's in great shape, but having to take hits & bumps at that age, is a no, no. I mean, Hogan isn't taking them anymore, why does he think someone else, his age, should. Rodman, great crowd control, but again, I'd rather see someone younger. Same with Tiffany, teen rocker from the 80's. That says it all, FROM THE 80's! I feel that a younger generation would put more effort into it and make it more entertaining. To be HONEST, I haven't watched the last 2 shows, but I picked Danny Bonaduce to win, from the beginning. I know he's up there in age too (They all are, except Screech and the Price is Right girl), but Like Hogan said, Danny really missed his calling. He has great crowd control and heel work. It wouldn't take much for him to maybe have been a WWE, WCW, or even TNA Superstar, if he could've trained earlier in his career. As always, that's my opinion. What's yours?
Hello everyone and Welcome to My Opinion on Kane. This is a request from my friend kat at http://fans.wwe.com/ktty I first became aware of Kane(Glen Jacobs) in 1993 from a very brief stint in WCW as Bruier Mastino. As of then, he had only been in the biz about a year. I thought he was raw and unrefined, but with his shear size and build, he had a bright future. After WCW he went to Jerry Jarrett's USWA, where he wrestled as Doomsday and The Christmas Creature. Soon after, he went to Smoky Mountain Wrestling as Unabomb. SMW, at the time, was getting a push from WWF(WWE) as some of their stars were featured on WWF(WWE) programs and some of their titles were actually defended on WWF(WWE) shows and ppv's. In SMW, Unabomb formed a tag team, The Dynamic Duo, with another future WWF(WWE) star, Al Snow, and eventually won the SMW Tag Team Championships. Meanwhile, his skill level was getting better and better, and he caught the eyes of the WWF(WWE) creative team.
WWE first brought Jacobs in as Dr Isaac Yankem DDS. A demented dentist brought in by Jerry Lawler, to help in a feud with Bret Hart. This was a poor gimmick, that soon died out and was scrapped. A short time later, after the WWF(WWE) departures of Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, who had played the TRADEMARKED characters of Deisel and Razor Ramon, Jacobs was brought back in, in an even worse and shorter lived gimmick, as the "Fake Outsiders" Deisel. The Fake Outsiders(Deisel and Ramon) actually won the PWI Worst Gimmick of the Year Award for 1996. By the 2nd failed WWF(WWE) gimmick, most wrestlers careers would be dead. They've killed so many carrers with failed gimicks. More times than none, it's not the actual abilities of the wrestler that are no good, just the gimmicks.
Finally though, the creative team hit 1 out of the park, with the character of Kane. He was brought in as the kayfabe masked brother of the Undertaker. Contrary what WWE has said, they are of NO RELATION. I thought Kane would be great. A big man with true ability. With the storyline and his size, I thought he would be a monster heel and a dominant force. But as usual, even to today, the creative team really dropped the ball on the Kane character and has STILL never picked that ball back up yet. The monster heel that could've been so dominant for so long was allowed to be so dominant by creative, that his ONLY WWF(WWE) World Heavyweight Championship reign lasted all of 1 day. What a great gimmick and outstanding performer WWE turned into such a huge dissapointment. Don't get me wrong, I love Kane, I just hate that his character was never used to it's full potential.
Now he's locked in yet another dead end feud, this time with Mysterio. Again, don't get me wrong, I've always liked Mysterio since he 1st started wrestling here in the states, but we all know that if wrestling WAS real, Rey wouldn't last 3 minutes with Kane. I understand that since Rey is the only hispanic wrestler in the company, since Dos Caras redecided against sighning with WWE, WWE has to put him over to quiet more equal rights and racism allegations. It's just a shame that Kane has to be the 1 USED for this. Especially when Rey even hanging with Kane, let alone, beating Kane, DOES NOT LOOK EVEN REMOTELY REAL. If WWE wants to put over hispanics, there are so many more with size, that could fit the bill. Kane truly deserves to be a dominant world champ and I'd love to see that. But I guess, since creative really doesn't seem to have a clue, we'll have to continue settling for the huge dissapointment known as Kane. As always, that's my opinion. What's yours?
