Hello everyone and Welcome to My Opinion on Kane. This is a request from my friend kat at http://fans.wwe.com/ktty I first became aware of Kane(Glen Jacobs) in 1993 from a very brief stint in WCW as Bruier Mastino. As of then, he had only been in the biz about a year. I thought he was raw and unrefined, but with his shear size and build, he had a bright future. After WCW he went to Jerry Jarrett's USWA, where he wrestled as Doomsday and The Christmas Creature. Soon after, he went to Smoky Mountain Wrestling as Unabomb. SMW, at the time, was getting a push from WWF(WWE) as some of their stars were featured on WWF(WWE) programs and some of their titles were actually defended on WWF(WWE) shows and ppv's. In SMW, Unabomb formed a tag team, The Dynamic Duo, with another future WWF(WWE) star, Al Snow, and eventually won the SMW Tag Team Championships. Meanwhile, his skill level was getting better and better, and he caught the eyes of the WWF(WWE) creative team.
WWE first brought Jacobs in as Dr Isaac Yankem DDS. A demented dentist brought in by Jerry Lawler, to help in a feud with Bret Hart. This was a poor gimmick, that soon died out and was scrapped. A short time later, after the WWF(WWE) departures of Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, who had played the TRADEMARKED characters of Deisel and Razor Ramon, Jacobs was brought back in, in an even worse and shorter lived gimmick, as the "Fake Outsiders" Deisel. The Fake Outsiders(Deisel and Ramon) actually won the PWI Worst Gimmick of the Year Award for 1996. By the 2nd failed WWF(WWE) gimmick, most wrestlers careers would be dead. They've killed so many carrers with failed gimicks. More times than none, it's not the actual abilities of the wrestler that are no good, just the gimmicks.
Finally though, the creative team hit 1 out of the park, with the character of Kane. He was brought in as the kayfabe masked brother of the Undertaker. Contrary what WWE has said, they are of NO RELATION. I thought Kane would be great. A big man with true ability. With the storyline and his size, I thought he would be a monster heel and a dominant force. But as usual, even to today, the creative team really dropped the ball on the Kane character and has STILL never picked that ball back up yet. The monster heel that could've been so dominant for so long was allowed to be so dominant by creative, that his ONLY WWF(WWE) World Heavyweight Championship reign lasted all of 1 day. What a great gimmick and outstanding performer WWE turned into such a huge dissapointment. Don't get me wrong, I love Kane, I just hate that his character was never used to it's full potential.
Now he's locked in yet another dead end feud, this time with Mysterio. Again, don't get me wrong, I've always liked Mysterio since he 1st started wrestling here in the states, but we all know that if wrestling WAS real, Rey wouldn't last 3 minutes with Kane. I understand that since Rey is the only hispanic wrestler in the company, since Dos Caras redecided against sighning with WWE, WWE has to put him over to quiet more equal rights and racism allegations. It's just a shame that Kane has to be the 1 USED for this. Especially when Rey even hanging with Kane, let alone, beating Kane, DOES NOT LOOK EVEN REMOTELY REAL. If WWE wants to put over hispanics, there are so many more with size, that could fit the bill. Kane truly deserves to be a dominant world champ and I'd love to see that. But I guess, since creative really doesn't seem to have a clue, we'll have to continue settling for the huge dissapointment known as Kane. As always, that's my opinion. What's yours?

I think they (WWE) does not use him to the best of his ablity. They mock him. Really do not know why he stays. If I was Glenn Jacobs I would be looking for a place on T-N-A. ecie |
