WWE Superstar Ted DiBiase sat down with a GX: The Guard Experience magazine reporter to talk about being a part of the National Guard partnership.
GX: What did you think when you heard about the partnership between the WWE and National Guard?
Ted: This is so exciting for us, to be a part of something so special. Honoring the troops—I don't know if there's a higher reward than that for us. Set aside the fame and money and all that stuff. Just being a part and spending time with these guys, and having a partnership with the people who risk their lives and sacrifice so much, is such a high honor for me as an individual. This is the most meaningful thing that we can do.
GX: Have you had a chance to go overseas as well?
Ted: Not for the troops. Hopefully, I'll get to go this year. We have our annual Tribute to the Troops, and we've been doing it since 2002. It's been incredible, the stories that these guys bring back, just from going and meeting all those people over there and spending time with them while they're away from their families. They go visit the hospitals and it's just incredible to see the reactions we get from these guys. They're so appreciative of us coming over, but they don't realize that we're more appreciative of what they are doing.
GX: If you had a message for the troops, what would it be?
Ted: Guys, we love you and we can't thank you enough for what you do. Keep on keeping on. I know it's hard being away from your families, 'cause I do that. I'm away from my wife a lot. I understand in a sense, but I'm not out risking my life everyday, so I don't totally understand. But we love you and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
