    WWE_The_Best_of_Saturday_Nights_Main_Event_DVD_2009_0001

It was a monthly tradition.  Once a month, you would stay up late on a Saturday night and at 11:35, you would turn on NBC to watch Saturday Night's Main Event.  Then, if you were like me, you would get yelled at the next day for sleeping during church because you stayed up late.  But no matter how many times you would get yelled at, it was worth it because the action you saw on those monthly programs were nothing like anything else on free TV.

Fans can now relive that tradition with WWE Home Video's latest DVD release - WWE The Best of Saturday Night's Main Event.  It's a three disc set that features over thirty matches.  All of your favorite WWE Superstars, past and present, are featured on this release.

Hulk Hogan, "Cowboy" Bob Orton, "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, Terry Funk, Mr. T, Jake"The Snake"Roberts, Randy"Macho Man"Savage, Miss Elizabeth, Bobby"The Brain"Heenan, Jimmy"Mouth of the South"Hart, "Mean" Gene Okerlund, Vince McMahon, Jesse"The Body"Ventura, Ricky"The Dragon"Steamboat, The HartFoundation, The British Bulldogs, Andre The Giant, The Honky Tonk Man, Koko B. Ware, Mr. Perfect, "The Model" Rick Martel, The Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, George"The Animal"Steele, Junkyard Dog, King Kong Bundy, "Million $ Man" Ted DiBiase, Virgil, "King" Harley Race, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, The Ultimate Warrior, Brutus"The Barber"Beefcake, "Outlaw" Ron Bass, The Twin Towers, "The Doctor of Style" Slick, The Brain Busters, The Rockers, "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, "Sweet" Sapphire, "The Genius" Lanny Poffo, Sid Justice, "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, The Undertaker, Paul Bearer, The Mountie, Shane McMahon, D-Generation X, The Spirit Squad, Edge, John Cena, "Lord" Alfred Hayes, Matt Hardy, Evander Holyfield and more!

As I mentioned before, this is a special 3 disc set.  Disc 1 features matches from the years of 1985, when the program began, through 1987.  Disc 2 features matches from 1988 and 1989.  On Disc 3, you see matches from the years 1990, 1991, and 1992, when the show ended temporarily.  Then you see matches from the recent episodes of 2006.

Here's what I thought was good about the DVD set.  There was plenty of Randy"Macho Man"Savage, which as you know, I am a huge fan of and am disappointed that WWE Home Video has never released a DVD of his career.  Well, The Best of Saturday Night's Main Event does a very good job of covering Savage's career the best they could.  Macho Madness fans can see their main Macho Man compete as a heel against Jake Roberts, the joining of The MegaPowers and then the ultimate destruction of the power union.  For the moment, it's the best thing to a Randy Savage DVD.

Here's what I thought was bad about the DVD set.  I would've liked to have seen a few more matches from the new episodes that have aired in the last two years.  I also wouldn't have minded if there was an extra or an Easter Egg that had several pre-show interviews that the wrestlers on the episodes would perform.  I feel the DVDs were lacking on the extras front.  In total, there are only eight extras and only two of those extras are additional matches.  They didn't have to fill up the extras with more matches but they could've used this section as a place to store interviews or comedy pieces involving Superstars and other personalities.

One thing that they could've placed that I think fans would've enjoyed would've been the interviews performed pool side with some of the Superstars.  Another interesting piece of footage the producer could've gave us were bloopers.  I'm sure through the years with all of the comedy segments the WWE produced and all of the pre-match promos, there were some outtakes.  Whether or not they were funny, who knows but wouldn't you have liked to have seen them?

All in all, WWE The Best of Saturday Night's Main Event is a great DVD and will truly satisfy any old school fans who want to relive great memories, matches and moments from the past.  It will satisfy new school fans as well as they can look back and learn more about a show that was a staple of WWE programming for over five years.

    WWE Invades The Hoosier State!

Sunday, January 11, 2009, 12:40 PM EST [Live Events]

Courtesy of WU Online: THE WEBSITE.

BY MICHAEL WEAVER, JR. [FACEBOOK | MYSPACE | E-MAIL]

    WWE_Logo_0002

World Wrestling Entertainment invades the Hoosier state during the month of January with three exciting live events and one of them includes a television taping!

WWE SMACKDOWN HOUSE SHOW - JANUARY 19, 2009

WWE_Friday_Night_Smackdown_0001The first WWE event in Indiana for 2009 is a house show featuring the SmackDown! brand.  It takes place on Monday, January 19th at the John E. Worthen Arena at Ballstate University in Muncie.

According to local advertising, the main event will be for the World Wrestling Entertainment Heavyweight Championship.  The current WWE Champion, Jeff Hardy will defend his championship against the former champion, Edge and Vladimir Kozlov.  This match will be a Triple-Threat Match.

There will also be a Steel Cage Match in Muncie on January 19 when the phenom known as The Undertaker takes on The Big Show.  Every time these two giants have collided, it’s been Hell on Earth.  What’s going to happen when they’re confined inside of a 15 foot steel cage?

Also scheduled to appear: WWE United States Champion, “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin, R-Truth, The Great Khali and many more.  Tickets are now on sale and they are priced at $20.00, $25.00, $30.00 and $40.00.  Get your tickets at the John E. Worthen Ticketmaster, all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com or by calling toll free at 1-800-745-3000 or locally at (769) 644-3131.

If you attend the event and would like to send in a recap and/or your thoughts on the show, please send it to wuonline@gmail.com.

WWE FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN! TV TAPING - JANUARY 27, 2009

WWE_SummerSlam_2008_0001On Tuesday, January 27, WWE Friday Night SmackDown! rolls into the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis for a back-to-back TV Taping.  That means they will tape the January 30th episode and the February 6th episode in one night.

According to local commercials, the dark match of the evening will be the WWE Heavyweight Champion, Jeff Hardy defending the championship against former champion, Edge, inside of a 15 foot steel cage.  Will Hardy walk out of the Conseco Fieldhouse as the champion or will a new champion leave the arena?

The interesting point is the last time WWE came to the Conseco Fieldhouse was last August for SummerSlam.  It was that event where The Undertaker defeated Edge inside of the Hell in a Cell and the end of the night came when he chokeslammed him off of a ladder and sent him straight to the fiery depths of “Hell.”  Will Edge and Undertaker cross paths on January 27?  And what will happen if they do?

Also scheduled to appear at the TV Taping are: Triple H, The Undertaker, The Great Khali, The Big Show, Vladimir Kozlov, “MVP” Montel Vontavious Porter, R-Truth, Michelle McCool and many more.  Tickets are now available and are priced at $20.00, $30.00, $40.00, $50.00 and $75.00.  To purchase your tickets, visit the Conseco Fieldhouse Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com, or purchase them via phone by calling toll free 1-800-745-3000 or locally at (317) 239-5151.

If you attend the event and would like to send in a recap and/or your thoughts on the show, please send it to wuonline@gmail.com.

WWE RAW & ECW LIVE EVENT - JANUARY 31, 2009

WWE_RAW_and_ECW_Live_0001With two live events featuring the SmackDown! brand, it only makes sense to have the RAW and ECW Superstars invade Indiana as well.  This is the first time, the RAW brand has ever competed in Hammond, Indiana.

On January, 31 at the Hammond Civic Center in Hammond, Indiana, the RAW and ECW Superstars will appear to bring the hot action of the WWE into the cold Hoosier state.

According to local information I gathered from the City of Hammond, there are two big matches scheduled to take place.  WWE World Heavyweight Champion, John Cena defends the championship against Chris Jericho.  Also, an explosive tag team match will take place when “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels teams up with Rey Mysterio to take on Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes and Manu.  Based on recent developments, I would assume that match would end up changing by the time WWE rolls into Hammond.

Also scheduled to appear: “JBL” John Bradshaw Layfield, ECW World Champion - Matt Hardy, CM Punk, WWE Intercontinental Champion - William Regal, Kofi Kingston, WWE Women’s Champion - Beth Phoenix, Cryme Tyme, and the WWE World Tag Team Champions - The Miz & John Morrison.

Tickets are now available and are priced at $20.00, $30.00, $40.00 and $50.00.  You can purchase your tickets at the Hammond Civic Center Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com and by calling via phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000 or locally at (312) 559-1212.

If you attend the event and would like to send in a recap and/or your thoughts on the show, please send it to wuonline@gmail.com.

    Thanksgiving 2008

Thursday, November 27, 2008, 06:48 PM EST [General]

    Happy Thanksgiving!

2008 has been a really hard year for me and my family but I am still very grateful for the blessings that God has given me and my loved ones during the last year.

I am so grateful that my battle with the government has finally ended.  LOL I just thought of this...I'm kinda like Vince McMahon in the fact that we both have fought the government and won!!!  You may think I'm a little crazy but hear me out!  Okay in 1994, he fought the government when they indicted him on drug charges.  The jury ended up finding him not guilty in June or July of 1994.  Well, for the past several years, I have been fighting with the government regarding my disability and in April of 2008...I WON!!!  So I'm undefeated against the government and you know...I think I'm going to retire.  ;)

I am also grateful that my Grandma is no longer here.  Now that may also sound crazy to you but when I stop and really think about her...she just wasn't happy and in her last days she was starting to hurt a lot more.  So while I miss her so much and I will always miss her so much...I'm glad she is no longer hurting.  I'm glad she is no longer sad.  I'm glad she's been reunited with her loved ones.  I'm glad she's walking with God.

I am also grateful that even though my Dad suffered two strokes, he is a lot better.  I lose my temper a lot with him and I hope that's something I can work on in 2009.

I'm grateful for my sister, brother-in-law, and three nephews.  I wish them all the best in the future.  I wish them nothing but happiness and success.

I'm grateful for my "kids," Annie and Little Bit.  They both are so adorable.  I love them with all my heart.

Friendships.  During the last couple of years, I've really had trouble with people claiming to be my friends, only to betray me.  Well, right now I can honestly say that I have REAL friendships and REAL friends.  The people who are my friends, I would step in front of a bullet for.

Most of all, I'm grateful for my mother.  She is my best friend.  She is my rock.  She is my hero.  Without her...I wouldn't be here.  I hope she knows how much she means to me and how thankful I am for all she does and has done for me.

God bless you all and I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving.

    Michael

I just received this message from THQ!

Attention WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 fans!

This e-mail is to inform you that an official patch to address certain functionality related to the Create-A-Superstar feature in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 is scheduled to be released online for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles before 1/31/09.  The patch will allow fans of the leading fighting videogame franchise to give all of their created Superstars full attributes after completing the new Career Mode one time through.  Given the overall popularity of the Create-A-Superstar feature and the fans’ ongoing demand for more flexibility, this new patch will greatly enhance the player’s ability to fully customize many created Superstars at the same time.
