    POWER 25 for Sept. 6

Monday, September 15, 2008, 07:10 PM EST [General]

    This WeekMovementSuperstarLast Week
    1

    TRIPLE H (11)

As the only champion to retain his gold in the Scramble Matches at Unforgiven, WWE Champion Triple H can stand proudly at the top of this week's P25 and look forward to defending against Jeff Hardy at No Mercy.

    1
    2

    MATT HARDY (6)

Matt Hardy has finally done it! His resillience has led him to become ECW Champion, and twice this week, Hardy was able to defy the odds and defeat The World's Strongest Man.

    3
    3

    UNDERTAKER

The Deadman now has bigger problems to deal with than SmackDown GM Vickie Guerrero. Much bigger, in fact, in the form of Big Show. When these colossal competitors collide, the earth is bound to shake.

    2
    4

    CHRIS JERICHO (2)

As a last minute replacement in the World Heavyweight Championship Scramble Match, Chris Jericho saw his night go from black to gold, winning the Scramble and the World Heavyweight Championship.

    7
    5

    BATISTA

It was only a matter of seconds that allowed Chris Jericho to be crowned World Heavyweight Champ, instead of The Animal. And, as seen on Raw, that just makes Batista hunger for the gold even more.

    4
    6

    CM PUNK

Thanks to an unprovoked attack from the World Tag Team Champions and Manu, as well as a punt to the head from Randy Orton, Punk lost his gold without even being able to defend it in the Scramble Match.

    5
    7

    VLADIMIR KOZLOV

The Moscow Mauler has been looking for  better competition. On SmackDown he made it known that if his demands are not met, he will seek out opponents.

    9
    8

    MARK HENRY

The World's Strongest Man was unable to hold on during the ECW Championship Scramble Match at Unforgiven, but we doubt it will be the last Matt Hardy has seen of him.

    6
    9

    JEFF HARDY

He may have been attacked by Vladmir Kozlov after the match, but the Legend Thriller still won the Fatal Four Way Match, earning him the opportunity to face Triple H for the WWE Championship at No Mercy.

    11
    10

    KANE

The Big Red Monster may not have walked out of Unforgiven as the World Heavyweight Champion, but he may be getting exactly what he wants as he faces Rey Mysterio next week on Raw.

    8
    11

    BIG SHOW

Big Show definitely has the attention of Undertaker after what he did at Unforgiven. And, his new alliance with SmackDown GM Vickie Guerrero guarantees he won't be overlooked ever again.

    12
    12

    CODY RHODESTED DIBIASE

They may not be impressing Randy Orton, but the World Tag Team Champions are certainly impressing us at The Academy. And, their new-found alliance with Manu may certainly prove to be priceless.

    14
    13

    THE GREAT KHALI

The lack of action from the Punjabi Giant leaves us no choice but to drop him three spots. Believe us, we wouldn't do it if we didn't have to because there's no chance we'd want to offend a man of his stature.

    10
    14

    KOFI KINGSTON

On two different occassions this week, Kofi Kingston came face-to-face with the World Tag Team Champions and Manu. Both confrontations left Kingston with a bad taste in his mouth.

    13
    15

    SANTINO MARELLA

The Honk-A-Meter is rising ever so slowly as the Intercontinental Champion has set his sights on beating Honky Tonk Man's 64-week Intercontinental Championship reign. Santino's now at three and counting.

    16
    16

    SHAWN MICHAELS

The Showstopper nearly stopped Chris Jericho's show at Unforgiven when he defeated him in their Unsanctioned Match. We are happy to hear that HBK isn't ready to hang up his boots just yet.

    20
    17

    BETH PHOENIX

The Women's Champion once again displayed her intimidating strength and successfully defended the gold against Mickie James. Candice Michelle better be ready for the fight of her life at No Mercy.

    19
    18

    MONTEL VONTAVIOUS PORTER

Unfortunately for MVP, it was he who took the final pinfall in the WWE Championship Scramble allowing Triple H to retain his title. The Ballin' Superstar needs to turn things around soon, as we are not impressed.

    15
    19

    THE BRIAN KENDRICK

Although he lost both, The Brian Kendrick showed us that he is someone to be taken seriously after the WWE Championship Scramble and his match for the No. 1 contendership to Triple H's gold.

    17
    20

    R-TRUTH

No one can deny it, R-Truth is on a roll and could easily be considered as one of, if not the fastest rising Superstar on the SmackDown roster. We at The Academy have opened our eyes to the Truth.

    24
    21

    MICHELLE MCCOOL

It is never comfortable defending your title, but there is always relief when you successfully retain it. The Divas Champion is feeling that relief after defeating Maryse at Unforgiven.

    NR
    22

    REY MYSTERIO

The Master of the 619 teamed up with ECW's Evan Bourne to not only win, but also put on quite a show. A different strategy will be needed for his upcoming match against Kane on Raw.

    25
    23

    JOHN MORRISON & THE MIZ

Things have not been going well as of late for "The Dirt Sheet" stars. The duo needs to start winning more consistently if they want to be taken seriously as WWE Tag Team Championship contenders.

    22
    24

    MICKIE JAMES

Losing her opportunity to become Women's Champion once again on Raw hurts Mickie James and drops her three spots this week. She has to wait for another chance, as Candice takes her opportunity at No Mercy.

    21
    25

    CARLITO & PRIMO COLON

Carlito and Primo certainly made the Colon family proud with an impressive win over WWE Tag Team Champion Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder. The champions' days with the gold may certainly be numbered.

    Do You Agree?

What do you think of this week's POWER 25 rankings?

    Email  your comments to me.

    WHAT YOU'RE SAYING

"Kozlov up to No. 7? What are your credentials to be on The Academy, anyway?" - Ken
The Academy replies: The man doesn't lose and others around him do. Simple as that.

"Why are The Miz & John Morrison dropping? Morrison picked up a win." - Norm
The Academy replies: He did, but The Miz had a rough outing in the ECW Championship Scramble Match. That cost the duo a spot.

"Jericho has two first place votes, but he's still No. 4? I don't get it." - Tim
The Academy replies: While two members of The Academy put him at No. 1, more members had Undertaker higher. If we dropped The Deadman any further, we may be looking at getting stuck into Hell.

    FAREWELL

The following Superstar(s) failed to maintain their position on the P25 this week:

Natalya - Unfortunately for Natalya, things have not been going her way as of late. She will have to turn things around if she wants to make her way back onto the P25.

Maryse - After losing the Divas Championship Match at Unforgiven, The Academy has no choice but to bid the beautiful Maryse farewell for now.

    OTHERS EARNING VOTES

The following Superstar(s) also received votes from members of The Academy:

William Regal - At the expense of Jamie Noble, Regal has been impressive as of late and could soon be on the P25.

John "Bradshaw" Layfield - We're not laughing now. JBL certainly made his point to Batista, and now he has our undivided attention.

Brie Bella - Whether it is just an energy drink or some of Popeye's spinach, whatever Bella hides under the ring that keeps rejuvenating her is working and she should stick with it.
