    Call this the Denver Screwjob

Friday, May 22, 2009, 01:01 PM EST [Wrestling]

Well, I have not blogged here in forever so I thought I would say something about the Denver mess.  I WAS siding with Vince UNTIL I found out like alot of you did, that the Nuggets Ownership had offered the option of SUNDAY NIGHT so Raw could be taped and then shown on Monday Night.....the Nuggets thought they had a deal, until the publicity machine named WWE/Vince decided to take their ball and go to LA.  Who got screwed?  Not the Nuggets or Pepsi Arena. Nope, it was the FANS IN DENVER who got screwed. Not only THAT, it was also the fans in Loveland and Colorado Springs (where the SD Tapings were supposed to happen) as well.

Why couldn't Vince have had Raw Taped on Sunday night? When they go overseas, and Raw needs to be taped, they tape it then and show it later on Monday Night Raw at 9pm ET.  The fans know it is not live as it is coming from overseas.  What difference does it make?  Vince was bent on keeping the publicity machine going so he had to take both Raw and Smackdown Tapings to LA and punish the fans in Colorado (even took away the Loveland House show away) for something that could have been resolved had Vince agreed to tape on Sunday night. The fans in Denver would have seen Raw. The fans in Colorado Springs  would have gotten to see SD taped and the fans in Loveland would have gotten their house show.  But NOOOOOOOO. Vince has to milk the situation for all it was worth just to get publicity.  This is all a big publicity stunt by Vince McMahon. Period.  I ADMIT the Nuggets screwed up, but they did try to make the situation right by offering WWE Sunday night.  It also would have hurt Vince's ego to read that joint statement. Sorry, joint statements are done all the time. VInce should have agreed to getting Sunday night, sucked it up and read the joint statement and move on.

I know I am going to get messages from WWE marks saying the Nuggets were the only ones at fault, but I could care less. The Team's ownership offered Vince a solution, but instead of taking the offer of Sunday night, Vince decides to make a mountain out of a mole hill and turn it down.  What the media is not reporting is that WWE is one of the WORST as far as canceling/changing venues at the last second.  He is doing to the fans in Loveland, and Colorado Springs what he is saying the Nuggets are doing to him.  Hypocracy much?

The people who are really being screwed over are the FANS. These are the same fans who probably spend money on merchandise, tickets, PPVs. I am sure there were quite a few fans who were going to TRAVEL to see the show(s) and Vince pulls this garbage on them.  Yes, the three cities were rescheduled as house shows I believe in August, but then a few other shows in Canada were changed as well.  Does Vince care? Of course not.

    Backlash Predictions and other notes

Sunday, April 26, 2009, 09:51 AM EST [Wrestling]

I am glad I am going to a friend's home to watch this.  To be honest, I would not order it as I don't think WWE has done alot to really push it, in other words, the buildup has been so so, IMO.

    Here are my predictions:

Jeff Hardy vs Matt Hardy in an I Quit Match: With the rumors of Jeff Hardy leaving after his contract is up in July, and he has been losing lately, I would not be surprised if Matt won. However, I am going against the conventional wisdom and say JEFF HARDY will be your winner.

CM Punk vs Kane: Wow, put this puppy in with no buildup. See what I mean?  Don't care about this match. I think the winner will be CM PUNK.

For the ECW Title which I believe is one of the matches, I believe it is Champion Jack Swagger against Christian.  May be a three way with someone else that I am forgetting. I think CHRISTIAN takes the strap.

You also have that nonsense with Santino/Khali.  Fail. LOL

Y2J vs Steamboat should be one of the better worked matches on the show.  Nice to see Ricky back , even for this one more match.  However, the winner will be Y2J.

The Last Man Standing Match for the World Title should be the other better worked match on the show.  Edge is Cena's best opponent outside of HBK.  Man, I don't think I am buying that this is Edge's last chance. Someway some how even if he loses tonight, he will eventually be a 9 Time Champ. The way he is going, he may catch Flair with WWE making him such a transitional champ. LONG REIGN for Edge please here, WWE. ANYWAY, there is word that Cena is taking time off to do a movie in May/June.  I do not see why they would keep the belt on him. However, the outcome of this match for me is kind of back and forth.  Cena will probably win, after all, they have to push him as SUPERMAN, but I am going against the conventional Wisdom and say EDGE wins.

The TNA , er, make that the six man match for the WWE Championionship is in itself very stupid. Just a stupid concept. Let me get this straight, Cody Rhodes pins Shane and HHH loses the title. Idiotic.  I can not emphasize how STUPID this is.  Of course, if you look at it politically, HHH can lose and not job the belt.  I would not be surprised if either Batista or Shane turn on HHH here.  That is what they are teasing with the dissension amongst them.......then again, WWE who is obsessed with fooling the fans, could very well have all three on the same page and they win, but anyway,  I do not see HHH jobbing, so the winner, unfortunately for me as an Orton mark even though HHH is one of my faves, will be TRIPLE H. I hope I am wrong in this.

The wild card in both the title matches is CM PUNK.  There is talk of him cashing it in at Judgement day in his hometown of Chicago...he said he would like that, but of course, it is up to creative...Punk could easily beat the winners of either title match and cash in his MITB.  I am suspecting that it is a strong possibility that Punk will cash it in on the winner of the Last Man Standing Match.  Think about it, the winner of that match will be exhausted from beating his opponent to death, and what a great time for Punk to cash it in.  I do not see him doing it in HHH's match. Could happen, but if they decide to pull the trigger on his cashing in the briefcase, I think it will be after the LMS match and go into his hometown as Champion.

Could be a good show, but I would be surprised if it gets 90 thousand buys.  Buildup has not been great.

    Enjoy the show.

Other little notes: The Jeff Hardy Facebook is a fake. HBK is taking time off, and according to JR, will be gone another few months. I am hearing July. I miss him already but he deserves it. He is in bad shape with his knees.

How about that Kofi/Edge match on Superstars?  Very good match and Edge didn't bury him as a certain party would.

Wrestling Stuff (Supplemental Draft, Hardy, and Hogan and good news for European Edgeheads)

Wednesday, April 15, 2009, 06:59 PM EST [Wrestling]

Well, this is gonna be a hodgepodge of stuff.

First, the supplemental draft was just a bunch of swapping low to mid carders and the divas around.  Doesn't matter because everyone winds up on all the brands anyway. I think they should get rid of the draft and maybe the brand extension. No reason for two World Titles.  Just end the brand extension.

Good news for European Edgeheads. Edge evidently IS listed on the European Tour dates this month.  So, that is why he wasn't at the Smackdown tapings yesterday. He evidently went to Europe with the Raw Brand.  (See what I mean?) Glad to see him able to go, as banged up as he is. Will probably work tags.

It was reported in the New York Daily News I believe that a child died evidently imitating one of Jeff Hardy's moves off the Smackdown vs Raw video game. So sad to hear this. The mother left to go food shopping and came back to find her child on the ground. I know that pro wrestling and video games are gonna be blamed (typical knee jerk reaction), but I want to know, where is the parenting? HOw could you leave a child unattended? Just asking.

Now, Hulk Hogan and his latest case of verbal diarrhea.  He said in a Rolling Stone interview lately that he "totally understands O.J. Simpson."  He said he was angry about his wife and her 19 year old boyfriend etc and could relate to Simpson.  Hogan is sick. That is all I got to say. This is indefensible.

    Raw Draft Review

Monday, April 13, 2009, 11:55 PM EST [Wrestling]

Overall, show was dull. The audience hardly popped for anything. HHH, Cena and Edge and especially Jeff Hardy got some reaction but this show was just dull. Nice to see Edge twice in a night. :)

My opinion of the draft picks so far (still got the supplemental draft on Weds):

    I like:

Chris Jericho to SD.  He has done everything on Raw he could do really.  He can work with Rey on a feud which from my understanding both want to do.

Rey Mysterio to SD. He is a SD guy and he and Jericho can have that feud.

MVP to Raw. Very good move here.  I think MVP is ready for the big time.

Koslov to ECW. Good.  I don't watch ECW much so I avoid him.

Triple H to Raw. This was basically a formality. I am glad to see HHH on Raw where he belongs.  Maybe we can see DX reunite on occasion.

    I don't like:

Big Show to Raw. Just don't like it much. I don't think he is a live Raw person. On SD, some of his sloppiness can be edited out.  It is also evident that he will be involved with Vickie again. :(  Of course, Edge is staying on SD so maybe he and Vickie will split up for good.  :)  I loved them as a couple, but I think they ran their course.

Maryse to Raw.  WHen she came out, no reaction.

    On the fence:

Melina to SD. She may do well, but I am not to keen on her jobbing to Michelle McCool.

Matt Hardy to Raw. He may do ok. Promos are not his strong suit however.  Kind of weird that they blew off his feud with Jeff like that.

CM Punk to SD.  He has that briefcase. I am guessing he may cash it in at Backlash.  The LMS match between Edge and Cena would be an opportune time.  If Edge wins, I would be kind of upset if Edge had to job to Punk AGAIN.

Kane to SD.  I thought ECW should have been his destination. Is he gonna feud with his "brother" the Undertaker for the millionth time?

The Miz to Raw. I thought it should have been Morrison to Raw, but we will see what Miz who I can not stand can do.

Short Review of Raw and Smackdown this week and the Draft

Saturday, April 11, 2009, 10:55 PM EST [Wrestling]

Here is a short review of Raw and Smackdown for this week:

Raw was just ok.  I only liked the 10 man tag match.  Nice to see Batista back even though he looked bigger and he was limping down the ramp.  I am afraid Batista will get hurt again.   Interesting seeing Vickie Guerrero being the Raw GM and watching her mess up on live tv when she said the match between Edge, and Cena will be Edge's Last Chance when she had to be rolled out again and correct herself saying it was a LAST MAN STANDING MATCH.  She was able to get away with screw ups on Smackdown because it was taped. This is live TV and she can't screw up like that.

Smackdown was much better.  Some stuff was silly like Kofi getting squashed by the Big Show and the Khali/Santino bit. I am TIRED of Santino's act. First, I liked it alot, but now it is getting old. He wins the Ms. Wrestlemania Battle Royal?  UGH

The highlights were clearly the Hardy stuff, including their match. We could have done without the idiot Grisham explaining to us what a stretcher match is. We KNOW.

The other highlight was the Cutting Edge Segment. Great promos by Edge and Cena. This was probably Cena's best promo.  Great stuff.  Not so hot about Edge looking a bit weak walking away. I know the heel is supposed to be cowardly, but you should get the impression that he/she has a CHANCE of beating the top babyface. However, this angle with Edge is going somewhere. Don't know where but this should be interesting.

Now, the Draft:  Well, this should be interesting.  It will be interesting who gets drafted.  I am hearing that Raw will be beefed up as it is Vince's baby.  SD and ECW will get shafted, of course. I hope it will be a good one.
