Well, yesterday (Sunday) was a mixed bag, mostly a down day for me. My Pats got blasted, and I mean blasted by the lowly Dolphins. Yep, Joey Porter backed up his big mouth for once. I thought Cassel would have a bad day and he is gonna take his lumps. He is not Brady, but dang, I didn't think the REST of the team were gonna act like rookies (Cassel is technically not, but for all intents and purposes, he is as a starting QB) TOO. The defense disappeared and Randy Moss, I fear was reverting back to the Oakland Moss. We have a bye next week so it is time to regroup.
My Steelers laid an egg. That is all there is to it. Special teams were nothing special. Defense was very good keeping McNabb and the Eagles offense to 15 points. If Westbrook and McNabb (who missed two series due to a chest injury) do not get hurt (Westbrook left the game and did not return due to an ankle strain), this would have been a blowout. The Steelers do NOT have an offense thanks to the idiotic Steelers listening to their "genius" (I am being sarcastic) of a QB, Big Ben. Ben wanted playmakers and instead of fixing the O Line (more later), the team got playmakers and never fixed the O Line in the damned draft. IDIOTS. That O line that never got fixed along with Ben's REFUSAL to THROW THE BALL AWAY allowed 8 sacks on Ben and when Leftwich came in for an injured (why am I not surprised) Ben who had his hand stepped on (x rays negative) the O line allowed one other sack. NINE SACKS? WTF? We have no offense. Period.
My Giants got by the Bengals. We sacked the overrated Carson Palmer 6 times, but Palmer was able to go up and down the field. Should not have been that close but we won in OT, Now the Bengals are 0-3. At least the G-Men are 3-0.
As I will be at Raw tomorrow, I will make my MNF Pick now: Chargers SHOULD prevail over the Jets.
It was a bit of a sad day for me as a Yankee fan as tonight was the last game that will be played in Yankee Stadium which opened in 1923. Next year, the team will move to a new Stadium. :( My parents attended quite a few games in the "old" Stadium. I am sorry it will be torn down. It should be a National Monuement. SO many memories: Roger Maris' breaking the Babes single season HR record (my parents were in the audience), Aaron Boone's HR off of Wakefield (take that Red Sox fans), that kid catching that HR ball off of Jeter against the Orioles (who the Yankees beat tonight!), Reggie Jackson (my favorite Yankee of all time) hitting the 3 WS HRs, Lou Gehrig's retirement speech......so many memories. Great events happened at the Stadium too like the Greatest Football Game Ever: between the NY Giants and the Baltimore Colts in 1958, and so many title fights (when Boxing was a credible sport). I will miss it.
Good news did come where right here in KY, the USA WON the Ryder Cup in Golf, so that was exciting. That was pretty neat. Mickelson I guess didn't choke. Sucks that Tiger was not there, but I don't think he was really into the Ryder Cup. He is not much of a team player.
