    Econmics and the WWE.

Saturday, November 15, 2008, 06:52 PM EST [General]

Just like everything in the world right now it seems everything has taken a down turn.  Even the WWE, well not totally, has to take a bit of hit.

In layman terms is not as many people will be out at shows, not as much merchendise will go out the door, and some wrestlers will be released.  The past couple of weeks was a good example of some fall cleaning by WWE.

    Kenny Dykstra

    Elijah Burke

    Lena Yada

    Paul London

    Chuck Palumbo

These gentlemen are no longer working for the WWE.  Will that mean there careers are over forever?  Just like Mr. McMahon has said since the early 90's "Anything can happen in the WWE".

That phrase is something I've always been able to identify with since watching the WWE.

Yet the WWE is a business all the way down to the last penny in the saving account at bank.  So when there is an enconmic down turn it affects the WWE in more ways than one.

First off the ratings.  With less money, less time, and just less of everything here in the world the WWE is suffer in the ratings.  Writers are losing sleep.  Jeez...first of hiring the the goofball pros from hollywood doesn't help the WWE it hurts them.  I've got the gust to say it.  Why?  Its the wrestling business and I can take the heat.  If you would honestly hire or use the people that have been in the business and get back to some of the basics things would improve. Which has been slowly done.  I'll give them some credit but not a lot.

Secondly, overhead.  What's it cost to make the product desireable for all of us to tune in, buy merch, and cheer or boo.  They have the manage the money wisely or you would see this place become WCW.  I don't think anyone would buy the WWE.  Its been a family business for way to long.  Plus being the business family that the McMahon's are there has to be back up upon back up to keep the company operating.  In fact in the world of business and not wrestling it at least has a consistant track record.  May be the WWE should open a bank.  Then we might actually see everyone get slammed for oweing money.  Would you like HHH to show up and pedigree you for your cash?

Third, wrestlers.  On the road nearly 300 days a year.  These are the people most affected by others.  If we don't show up they get paid but what happens to the WWE?  They have to cut back.  Cut a wrestler, cut stage personel, cut security, and cut office staff.  So, what can you do, where do we go from here?

What goes down must come up.  Basic rule.  Right now the WWE might be down in some thing but not out.  They get to kick out at 2.9 and stay in the match until the go home finish.  That one thing MacMahon is know for is that savy.  If anything even during the tought times the WWE stays consistant.

    Why?

That's what wrestling does.  That's what it will do with America and the rest of the world.

Endure, rise, and keep moving forward.

The ratings are getting better but they get actors to get fresh ideas.I bet the frddie prinze jr is even the one that made jeff hardy's new gimmmick. He is on sd and nothing happened.
