The bottom line to all of this is that John Cena knows his audience better than pretty much anyone else on that roster, and he fake fights accordingly. He doesn't wrestle for douchebags who think FirePro offense and scrawny dudes in kickpads LARPing 90s All Japan matches is what good wrestling is all about.
