I'm really glad Beth Phoenix and Melina were given enough time to put on a great I Quit match at One Night Stand.
For once, the WWE seemed willing to give the Divas the kind of match time they deserve, allowing The Glamazon and Melina to show the world what great in-ring performers they are. Hey, it's only right -- this was a historic match, after all, as it was the first I Quit match between Divas.
Of course, what makes me even happier is that my fave The Glamazon won, but props to Melina for showing how much she's improved inside the ring. It was a great match and Melina looked good against The Glamazon, even though that was one sick submission Beth locked on her.
I feel bad for Mickie James, actually; her two rivals got to strut their stuff in a full-length match, while she, the women's champ, was nowhere on the card. To add insult to injury, she has to be content with flirting with John Cena backstage. WTF? I've never been fond of Mickie, but that's no way to treat the women's champ, especially now that the WWE women's division is getting credibility again with Divas like The Glamazon and Melina (and let's not forget my other fave Diva, Victoria).
I just hope to see The Glamazon as the women's champ again soon. Though I also wouldn't mind Victoria being given another run as champ in the near future.
Hmm, do you think we'll ever see the day when the WWE would have a women's tag team championship again? The old WWF had a women's tag team championship back in the 80s, and if they develop the skills of the other Divas or bring back some of the female wrestlers who were great inside the ring (I keep hoping to one day see Lita, Gail Kim, and heck, Trish Stratus back in WWE), that would be a great way to make the women's division even more credible.
Think about it: Beth Phoenix and Victoria, WWE women's tag team champions :)
