    Where Edge goes from here

Friday, July 11, 2008, 01:27 AM EST [General]

Okay, Edge losing his title to CM Punk a couple of weeks back disappointed a llot of us Edgeheads. However, I think we do agree that it served the purpose of shocking WWE fans and getting a world title on Raw. The plus side of that show was it came after he delivered a golden heel promo as only the Rated R Superstar can. Even with the loss, he still came out of it the most hated man in the WWE today.

Now that begs the question, what's next for Edge? Like him or not, he is clearly the top star in the WWE right now and the company is even pushing it that way. For instance this past Monday on Raw, where his name was dropped again on a show he isn't even on. Vickie was brought out to further Edge's storyline to an audience who doesn't see him week after week. Obvioulsly, the WWE brass are making sure you know who Edge is.

So now what? Obviously, he is back in the title picture right away against HHH at the Bash. But this match could just be a temporary stopgap match until the next phase of Edge's storyline is being written. I personally think it is far too early to begin his inevitable feud with Triple H, the last heel who was as hated and dominant as Edge is now, so look for it to be a dusty finish.

The last part of this year is extremely important for the Edge character. This is the period where his heel persona should be pushed to legendary status. Adam Copeland deserves at least that much for basically carrying SD on his back the last 5 or so months. The right set of opponents and angles is crucial in the direction Edge goes as a heel. There is little doubt he will be the champion again, he has to be.

The one thing that worries me of course, is Triple H. We have all heard about his politics and backstage whining. We all know he tried to squash Edge a few years ago while the two were on Raw, but now, Edge has made that next to impossible with his rise up the ladder. The only question is will Hunter be a team player do what's best for business. Or will he get jealous of Adam's success, run to his Father in law and attempt to put Edge in his place. I sure hope not.

ok after reading this post of your so called edge head. i LMAO when he lost the title to cm punk. it was about time someone knocked him off the ladder and i am glad it was punk. if you really want to go there i would have really lost and probably peed my pants if edge lost his title to say the brooklyn brawler.

sorry if i offend you in any shape or form, but the only way edge got that title cuz he was sleeping with the boss. i have seen this stuff before in the early years back in the old attitude era and even before that. there has never been a champion that had a manager or loved one that seem to get in there way. hogging their spotlight (as most wrestlers would put it). the edge and vickie situation just guaranteed that edge could break the rules and the referees would turn the other cheek. that is not right in any sport that is played.

so when edge can win the title by himself with out a manager or fiancee or any outside interference for that matter. then you can come and rant and rave all you want.

try this one you want to know where punk got the idea of cashing in the money in the bank title shot. well he got the idea from edge himself.

that is right edge did the same thing to undertaker when edge cashed in his money in the bank title shot. taker was bloodied and battered and that's when edge struck. so turn about is fair play.

I was very sad when Edge had to drop the title to CM Punk. It's nice to have a face that isn't Cena, Batista, Taker, Triple H, etc. as champion, but unfortunately it looks like Punk is going to have to play second fiddle to Cena and Batista anyway. I would have preferred that HHH drop the WWE title instead, but it didn't hurt to switch the two titles. But, yes, the promo before Batista came out was AMAZING. That boy knows how to use a mic!

I am really glad to see that Edge has continued to stay in the forefront this last year. It could have ended up like back in 2006/7 when he got sent to the backburner after a short feud for the WWE championship. Instead they continue to use him more and more, like you said, bringing him up on RAW, etc.

Of course, I would like to see Edge with the title. I think he plays the champ really well, maybe take it in a different angle though. He's already done the cheater and the coward. What about a very dominant heel? More like you hate him because you can't beat him. He can still be crafty and manipulative but get to show off his ring skills as well. In my mind Adam is already a legend with all of his accomplishments, but I think if WWE plays its cards right for him in the next year he could really stand out in the annals of history.

Yes, Triple H is a concern, unfortunately. They could work a really great feud if Trips doesn't cause a problem, they're both very talented men. We can only wait and see I guess.

Wow, this is a really long comment, but that was a very well written blog! Ciao!
