    10/14/09 ECW Dirt Sheet

Wednesday, October 14, 2009, 05:19 PM EST [General]

"Before I go on with this week's ECW, I have some very sad news to report. WWE Hall of Famer, Captain Lou Albano passed away earlier this morning. Albano began his wrestling career in the WWE in the 60's, then known as the WWWF as one half of the Sicilians with Tony Altimore.

"He later became one of the most successful wrestling managers in all of professional wrestling, managing 16 Tag Team Champions that included:

    The Wild Samoans
    The Valiant Brothers
    Mr.Fuji and Mr.Saito
    The US Express
    The British Bulldogs

"And managing singles wrestlers such as:

    Greg ''The Hammer'' Valentine
    Don "Magnificent" Muraco
    Andre The Giant

"And many other legendary names, and not to mention all the appearances that he made in Cyndi Lauper's music video for "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", creating the Rock and Wrestling Connection.

"Albano will be missed by the WWE, and it's longtime fans. He passed away due to cancer. He was 76.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    "Onto last night's ECW:

"I'm sure that William Regal was still very unhappy after his controversial loss last week to Yoshi Tatsu. As was Zack Ryder, who wasn't very happy with Regal and his gang of thugs, costing him his match last week against ECW Champion, Christian.

"So last night on ECW, the main event was ECW Champion, Christian, teaming up with Tatsu vs. both Regal and Ryder. But before their match, there was a heated confrontation backstage between both Regal and Ryder, which led the whole WWE Universe, including myself wondering if they are going to work well together.

"I will say this, Christian and Tatsu gelled a hell of a lot better together than both Ryder and Regal. Christian and Ryder were the 2 legal men in the ring and Tatsu saw that Regal was going to interfere, but was stopped by both Tatsu and the referee.

"Regal then had himself tagged in the match, which really didn't sit right with Ryder at all. When Regal was pushed into Ryder by Christian, he was clotheslined on the top rope by Ryder, allowing Christian to nail Regal with the Killswitch to get the win.

"A member of Regal's Ruthless Roundtable saw action last night when Ezekial Jackson took on the bizarre Goldust.

"Goldust really took the fight to Big Zeke. Goldust was looking for ways to weaken this big monster, but even though he was looking to gain a lot of momentum, he missed a lot of openings during this match, and I think that is what cost him the match against Big Zeke.

"Before I go on with the next match, Sheamus claims that he is not done with the Gold Standard, Shelton Benjamin. Well, I don't think that the Gold Standard is done with Sheamus. I know that the Gold Standard is going to look for retribution the next time he is in the ring with Sheamus.

"Paul Burchill is so hell-bent on proving that the Hurricane is really Gregory Helms, and what another great match in this rivalry that took place last night.

"The Hurricane in the past has had the upper hand in their matches, and even though Burchill really could never pull off a clean victory over the Hurricane, last night, the Ripper himself did manage to get some retribution with an impressive win. I actually thought that he was going to take the mask off
, but I guess not yet."

Thanks, Rob! RIP Captain Lou Albano. You will be sorely missed by every longtime wrestling fanatic like myself. Have a turnbuckle tomorrow, everyone.

Access RAW, plus my take on the Diva Trade

Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 06:44 PM EST [General]

"Ladies and Gentlemen of the WWE Universe ,I do call this 'Access Monday Night Raw' for a good reason and that reason being that Nancy O'Dell and Maria Menounos were last night's guest hosts for Raw. The question is, could they top Ben Rothlisberger from last week? I'll get to that at the end of this blog.

"But first, Raw started off last night with Chris Jericho talking about how he is the best in the world at what he does [blah, blah, blah] and how he is going to be the captain of the Smackdown team at Bragging Rights in the huge 7 on 7 Tag Team match.

"But Nancy O'Dell interrupted him and told him that Raw was going to start off with Degeneration X's Triple H all by himself, because Shawn Micheals was at home with his daughter being sick and all.

"As Triple H was going on about Bragging Rights, he was interrupted by Jericho and the Big Show, who wasn't happy about last week's loss to DX.

"But that verbal confrontation took a turn when the Big Show began talking about who was carrying the team. While the Unified Tag Champs were arguing back and forth, Nancy O' Dell allowed Triple H to make some qualifying matches for Bragging Rights. The first match was the Big Show vs.Chris Jericho, which got a great reaction from the WWE Universe.

"But during this match, the Jericho was doing all he could to win the match, but why was Big Show trying to calm him down? I mean, Jericho wasn't having any of that. The Big Show once again told him to calm down and nobody was going to get hurt. Jericho once again slapped the Big Show in the face, but the Big Show himself slapped him back. Jericho went down to the arena floor and hurt his knee. Now I don't know why he was doing this, but the Big Show went to check on his partner. He must have really didn't want to be a part of team Raw. But Jericho was really playing possum as he was trying to get back in the ring before the 10 count. However, Jericho was pulled out of the ring by the Big Show, and he made it back to the ring and he beats the count, making him a part of team Raw.

"Another Bragging Rights qualifying match saw the All American American, Jack Swagger against MVP. I'll be honest with you, either one of these guys would make a great addition to team Raw.

"MVP was looking to advance on team Raw as he was doing a Ballin' Elbow, and drops it, and only gets a 2 count. But Swagger put away MVP with his Gutwrench Powerbomb, making him a member of team Raw, and not only that, Swagger kept his promise about being undefeated for the remainder of 2009.

"Even though Kofi Kingston lost the United States Championship last week to the Miz, he was still in good spirits as he was taking on Evan Bourne for another spot on team Raw. This was my favorite match of the night.

"This match really could have went either way, and both men were so evenly matched, with the use of amazing agility and great athleticism. Man, what a great match this was. In the end, when Bourne was going off the top rope, he was caught with a little Trouble in Paradise and gets the win, and not only is he on team Raw, he gained a lot of redemption after losing the United States Championship last week to the Miz, who was bragging about how at Bragging Rights, he is going to face his former Tag Team partner, John Morrison.

"Let me say this, Morrison is going to show why he was the better half of the Miz and Morrison duo, and at Bragging Rights, Morrison will prevail.

    MORRISON IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"One more Bragging Rights Qualifying Match was a Triple Threat match. If Ted Dibiase wins, then he is a part of team Raw. Same thing for Cody Rhodes, but If John Cena wins, then neither Rhodes or Dibiase is a part of team Raw.

"As it turned out, when Cena tried to put away Dibiase, Randy Orton tried to interfere and distract Cena, Cody Rhodes took advantage and rolled up Dibiase for the win, making him a member of team Raw.

"That caused friction between the Legacy, but Nancy O'Dell had some plans for them. The Main Event was the Legacy vs.Randy Orton and John Cena. Before the match got started, he told the WWE Universe that he was talking to next week's guest host of Raw, which happens to be Snoop Dogg, and he made a match which could be Cena's last match on Raw.

"But before I could tell you who that is, let's get to last night's main event, which was really something that we could have done without.

"Orton said that he was not going to have himself tagged into the match as he wanted both Rhodes and Dibiase to soften up Cena for their 60-minute Iron Man match at Bragging Rights.

"But as it turned out, Cena did tag Orton in, and he was forced to wrestle Legacy. Rhodes tried pinning Orton, then when Dibiase was tagged into the match, he tried pinning Orton as well.

"Orton then tagged Cena back in and he was ready to make a statement to Orton, but Orton tagged himself in. Orton goes to work on Cena, which allowed Dibiase to roll up Orton for the pin. Orton was livid because of that, and as he was telling off Dibiase, Cena comes from behind and gives him the Attitude Adjuster.

"The friction has started between the Legacy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Mickie James was to defend the Divas Championship against Jillian, in which Jillian shockingly beat Mickie to become the new Divas Champion, but there was a 7 Divas Trade orchestrated by Nancy O'Dell, and ECW and Smackdown GMs Tiffany and Teddy Long.

"Mickie James was traded to Smackdown for Melina, and on her first match back on Raw, she beats Jillian and becomes the new Divas Champion.

    OTHER DIVAS TRADED:

    Rosa Mendes Traded To ECW

    Eve Traded To Raw

The Bella Twins Traded To Raw

    The Glamazon Traded To Smackdown.
    A quick note from me:
OK, I've been trying to digest this Diva Trade for some time now, and here is the way I see it.
    Current RAW Diva Roster
    Faces:
    Brie Bella
    Eve
    Gail Kim
    Kelly Kelly
    Melina
    Nikki Bella

    Heels:
    Alicia Fox
    Jillian
    Maryse

My take: Alright, in my opinion, it's a bit one-sided with the faces. What I see happening is possibly either Gail Kim or Melina turning heel, because I can't see the other face Diva wrestlers turn heel. Or, maybe Maryse can come back from her knee surgery and possibly back up Alicia and Jillian. Who knows? We'll have to see what happens.

    Smackdown
    Faces:
    Maria
    Mickie James

    Heel:
    Beth Phoenix
    Layla
    Michelle McCool
    Natalya

My take: Not bad, but only TWO faces and FOUR heelS? Imbalance! The only way in my opinion to correct this is to possibly bring someone up from FCW. Possibly the self-proclaimed Queen of FCW, Mia Mancini could become a face on Smackdown. Or I think we could see either the Glamazon or Layla turn face and even up the odds.

    ECW
    Faces:
    NO ONE

    Heels:
    Katie Lea Burchill
    Rosa Mendes

My take: I know I'm leaving out Courtney Taylor and Savannah, but they haven't wrestled yet in ECW. With no face Divas, I bet quite possibly Savannah could split her time between interviewing and wrestling Rosa and Katie Lea. Especially Rosa, because I heard that Savannah and Rosa have had a bit of history since their days in FCW, so a Savannah-Rosa Mendes feud is definitely possible. But, of course, the FCW option is still available to possibly even out the rosters, but you never know.

That's my forecast of the Divas trade. Now back to you, Rob!

"The Glamazon wasn't very happy, so she challenged one of the guest hosts last night, Maria, to a match, but along with Nancy, Kelly Kelly and Gail Kim, they took on the Glamazon, Alicia Fox and Rosa Mendes.

"WAIT A MINUTE, this was a six Diva Tag!

"Anyway, I'm happy to report that Maria and her team came out on top.

"So, this was a pretty good Raw, but not as good as last week, but I've got a good feeling that with Snoop Dogg as the guest host, it's going to be a great Raw next week with Triple H taking on John Cena in what is possibly going to be Cena's last match on RAW."

Man, what a recap, huh? Also, you can head over right now to ps3.ign.com on the Smackdown vs RAW 2010 section to check out some pretty cool, and funny videos of SDVR10's story mode. Have a great Tuesday night!:D

    10/10/09 WWE Smackdown Dirt Sheet

Saturday, October 10, 2009, 06:11 PM EST [General]

"I'm sure that a lot of people here in the WWE Universe was very happy to see the Undertaker become the World Heavyweight Champion for a 7th time this past Sunday at Hell In a Cell. And as Teddy Long said, the Undertaker's performance at Hell In a Cell proves why Smackdown is the better brand in the WWE.

"Long also made mention of the 60-minute Iron Man Match that is going to take place at Bragging Rights in 2 weeks between the WWE Champion, Randy Orton and John Cena and as we all found out this past Monday night on Raw, if Cena wins, then he is once again the WWE Champion. But if Orton wins, then Cena is gone from Raw for good. Long made mention of the fact that Cena is welcome home back on Smackdown. After all, that is where his WWE career began back on June 27, 2002. if I'm not mistaken.

"For some reason, that did not sit very well with CM Punk, as he got in Long's face telling him that he wanted a rematch for the Undertaker's World Heavyweight Championship, and that he wanted a Submission Match with Scott Armstrong as the referee.

"Long told him no and just as he was ready to tell him what he was going to do, here comes Vince McMahon telling Punk that Long made a Fatal 4 Way Match for the World Heavyweight Championship with the Undertaker defending against CM Punk, Rey Mysterio and Batista. That didn't make Punk very happy, and as a matter of fact, I don't think that Long saw that coming as well.

"By the way, if you have been reading sites such as wrestlingradio.com, wrestling-edge.com and wrestlezone.com, then you know about this Fatal 4 Way match taking place at Bragging Rights, and as much as I love the Undertaker, I don't see him at all retaining the World Heavyweight Championship, because of him wrestling with an injured hip. And I'm sure that if you saw Hell In a Cell, you saw him limping back to the locker room after his match at Hell In a Cell. I'm hoping that Punk has learned his lesson after what he did during the recent WWE tour overseas, and that he will become the World Heavyweight Champion.

"One of the participants in the Fatal 4 Way Match, Rey Mysterio, saw action last night against one half of the Unified WWE Tag Team Champions, Chris Jericho. Let's be honest, Mysterio and Batista gave Jericho and The Big Show one hell of a run for their money this past Sunday at Hell In a Cell. Mysterio was heating things up last night against Jericho. It was like he had this past Sunday's loss still fresh in his mind.

"Mysterio attempted a 619, but Jericho countered and slapped on the Walls of Jericho. Mysterio countered with an inside cradle and only got a 2 count. Jericho then comes back with a backbreaker and only gets a 2 count. Jericho countered another 619 from Mysterio, and this time he slapped on the Walls Of Jericho. Mysterio broke out and Jericho tried again but Mysterio nailed him with the 619, then followed up with a Springboard Body Splash to get the win.

"Punk and Batista had their one on one match later that night and Punk was not at all happy about it. Batista was using his power and strength against Punk. One would think that with the power and strength that Batista has, that this would be easy pickings, right?

"Well, just as the Animal was ready to finish off Punk with the Batista Bomb, Punk gets out of the ring and tried crawling underneath the ring, but was brought back out by the Animal.

"The Animal attempted a Batista Bomb outside the ring, but Punk was holding onto the ropes, and as the referee's count hit 8, Punk kicks the Animal away and beats the count back in, and the Animal was unable to enter before the 10 count.

"By the way, I want to inform you that back in Teddy Long's office was former Smackdown General Manager, Vickie Guererro, and her new boytoy, Eric Escobar. Guerero was ****ing at Long for not giving him a match. Then Guerrero reminded Long that he was still on probation, which leads me to think that Guerrero and McMahon are working on some kind of plan to get rid of Long. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

"In a rematch for the Intercontinental Championship, John Morrison defended against Dolph Ziggler. Their match that they had back at Hell in a Cell really stole the show for me, and last night's match was a show stealer as well.

"Morrison attacks Ziggler with a series of clotheslines and following up with an awesome standing Shooting Star Press, but only gets a 2 count.

"Morrison and Ziggler ended up outside the ring where Ziggler's woman, Maria was sitting. Then, when Morrison went back inside the ring, Ziggler was going to bring a chair, but was waiting for the right time.

"Maria grabbed that exact chair and sat back down as Ziggler was going to work on Morrison. Ziggler was looking for the chair, but saw that Maria was sitting on it, and this distraction allowed Morrison to nail Ziggler with a flying sharp kick and Morrison gets the win and retains his title.

"After the match was over, Maria tried getting Ziggler to talk to her, but Ziggler let her know that she was done with her.

"Drew McIntyre had his first Tag Team Match last night, teaming up with the Big Red Monster, Kane, as they took on R-Truth and Matt Hardy.

"Truth walked into a huge boot from Kane, and continues to go to work on him, but it wasn't enough to put Truth away. McIntyre was tagged in and continued where Kane left off. Then, one mistake by Kane allowed Truth to tag in Hardy while McIntyre tagged himself in, and Hardy goes to work on McIntyre. McIntyre's toughness was being tested by Hardy. Things started getting out of control until Hardy was nailed with a hard-hitting uppercut by Kane, and McIntyre followed up by a Double Underarm DDT, making McIntyre and Kane the winners of the match.

"This weeks word courtesy of Cryme Tyme's word Up Is Eve, and I think that we can all know what that stands for, as Eve herself took on Michelle McCool.

"I will say this, McCool had to have been feeling great going into this match, coming off a huge win over Melina last week in a Lumberjill Match on the Decade Of Smackdown Special.

"McCool's winning streak continued as she put away Eve with a hard-hitting kick to the jaw."

Awesome stuff right there, huh? Back with more later!

    10/9/09 WWE Superstars Dirt Sheet

Friday, October 9, 2009, 07:01 PM EST [General]

"As usual WWE Superstars last night gave you everything. 2 great matches and one match that was nothing but a major beat down. Here is what I mean.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The main event was from Smackdown in which Cryme Tyme tried to once again get the upper hand against the Hart Dynasty. The reason why I'm starting with this match first is because there was one match last night that should have been the main event, but I'll get to that later.

"Don't get me wrong, but a great rivalry has officially developed between 2 great upcoming tag teams, proving that great Tag Team wrestling is making a comeback, even though it is slowly but surely.

"David Hart Smith was using that awesome power that he has on JTG until he made a counter move but still was looking to make a tag.

"JTG made the tag and so did David Hart Smith. Shad was going to work on Tyson Kidd, went for the cover and only got a 2 count. Kidd was in what looked like a Fireman's Carry but Smith came in and made a cheapshot and Kidd only gets a 2 count.

"Kidd tagged in Smith and they were going to finish off Shad with the old Hart Foundation move, the Hart Attack, but JTG got involved and the 2 went at it outside the ring. And while Natalya was distracting the referee, Smith tried going for the Sharpshooter on Shad until Eve distracted him which allowed Shad to nail him with the Russian Leg Sweep to get the win.
    --------------------------------------------------------------

"From ECW, it was Sheamus taking on the Gold Standard, Shelton Benjamin. Benjamin was looking for revenge on Sheamus for what he did to him 10 days ago as I'm writing this blog on ECW, when he attacked Benjamin before his match against Paul Burchill.

"It was obvious that Sheamus's goal was to injure the Gold Standard and that's what he was doing when he lost by disqualification, for not breaking a hold before the 5 count. This is a rivalry that is far from over, and I'm sure that Benjamin is going to want to wait a little bit to make sure that his shoulder is OK, but then again, the Gold Standard is not going to let an injury like that stop him from getting revenge on Sheamus.

    --------------------------------------------------

"From Raw, it was a very angry Ted Dibiase who was sporting a black eye from his match at Hell In a Cell against Degeneration X, in which his partner, Cody Rhodes was injured. Before his match against Evan Bourne, he wanted to dedicate his match to Cody, and was asking the WWE Universe for a moment of silence, but he wasn't getting it at all.

"Bourne was willing to do whatever it takes to get past Dibiase, but he was displaying a lot more aggression and displaying a meaner streak then he normally does.

"But Bourne started to make a comeback, until he decided to literally go Air Bourne. Bourne went for a high kick but missed, and Dibiase went for Dream Street and puts away Evan Bourne.

"Now I was reading about Ted Dibiase turning face to promote the Marine 2 in which he will feud with Randy Orton, and I also heard that he wants Orton at Wrestlemania 26, so what are the chances on Raw of us seeing friction between he and Orton?

"We will have to wait and find out in the weeks ahead to see how this plays out."

Man, I can't wait to see if there will be friction between the two Legacy members. Have a great Friday night!:D
