    7/11/09 Smackdown Dirt Sheet

Sunday, July 12, 2009, 10:52 AM EST [General]

"There was all kinds of mayhem that ruled Friday Night Smackdown last night, so let's get to it all.

"At the start of last night's Smackdown, Jeff Hardy came to the ring with an eye patch over his left eye. Hardy was telling the WWE Universe that last week during his tag team match with CM Punk as his partner, a major tragedy happened when he fell off the ring apron due to an eye injury.

"But as it turns out once again that Jeff Hardy pulled one over on CM Punk, when he took it off and said that his eye injury is sust as serious as Punk's. Hardy had a match last night against the Big Red Monster, Kane.

"Punk came out on the scene last night when Hardy had a lot of momentum going his way, and once again was pretending that his eye was still in pain. This distraction caused the Big Red Monster to recover from the beating that Hardy gave him in this hard-fought match and Chokeslammed Hardy to get yhe win.

"Later on that night, Jeff Hardy was sitting at the announce table with Jim Ross and Todd Grisham to watch Punk take on the Great Khali. Before the match got started, Punk, well, let's just say that CM Punk was doing what MVP did last Summer and what Triple H did weeks before their match that they had at last years No Mercy, and that's passed judgement on Jeff Hardy for his troubled past.

"Punk also accused Hardy of his eye injury that he suffered at the Bash.

"Punk's match with the Great Khali was declared a no-contest when the Big Red Monster, Kane made another appearence, this time with a steel chair, looking for revenge for what Khali did to him last week, when he took the steel chair to Kane.

"However, Ranjin Singh supplied Khali with a chair of his own. Kane struck the Punjabi Playboy first, then in a fit of anger, Khali went after Kane with his chair, causing him to once again retreat."
My thoughts: Nice how WWE intertwined two rivalries into a few big matches. The Kane-Khali rivalry I think has reached a fever pitch, and I bet we'll see more head games between Punk and Hardy next week.

"Back in the locker room in Teddy Long's office, John Morrison told him that he wants to challenge the winner of the Hardy/Punk match, but Morrison needed to focus on his match that he had last night against Dolph Ziggler, who was engaging in some personal activity inside the closet with Maria. Gee!!!!!!  I wonder what they were doing and could someone please put that tape on the internet so I can see exactly what they were doing.

"Anyway, Morrison and Ziggler had an extremely solid match last night, which Ended in controversy when Morrison went for the Moonlight Drive and Ziggler countered and rolled him up and grabbed his tights to get the win."
My thoughts: DAMN! Is Dolph a lucky man or what? He got what Santino Marella didn't get, if you know what I mean-- LOL

"Last night's word thanks to Cryme Tyme's Word Up was Bromance, something that 2 dudes who are close enough in order to be a couple, like Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble, Brody Jenner and Spencer Pratt, Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhall-- wait a minute, I think Heath and Jake's bromance was something entirely different.

"Or how about Tyson Kidd and David Hart Smith, who had their rematch with Cryme Tyme last night? Last week, Cryme Tyme scored a victory over The Hart Dynasty in their very first appearence since being traded to Smackdown from ECW.

"Natalya saw that Kidd and Smith were in a lot of trouble, so she jumped on the apron and distracted the referee and JTG allowing the Hart Dynasty to make a powerful double team assault on Shad to get the win."
My thoughts: So the Hart Dynasty's got a win, and Cryme Tyme's got a win. I wonder if there's gonna be a rubber match between these two teams next week?

"Then it was the ever so sexy WWE Women's Champion Michelle McCool and Layla taking on former WWE Women's Champion, Melina and the ever so sexy Eve Torres.

"Thanks to Layla who accidently was smacked into McCool, Melina rolled her up for the pin and after the match was over, McCool attacked the former WWE Women's Champion, inticing a red hot brawl between the 2 Divas."
My thoughts: Man alive, I'd say that the McCool-Melina rivalry is now at the highest fever pitch it's ever been in. At Night of Champions, I say let the two once and for all settle their differences.

"I'm sure that you all in the WWE Universe will remember the epic battle that Chris Jericho and Rey Mysterio had at the Bash. Last night's main event was their rematch, and last night's match was just as epic as their match that they had not only at The Bash But at Extreme Rules as well.

"Mysterio once again had sucessfully defended his Intercontinental Championship when he nailed Jericho with his 619, and followed up with the splash.

"And after the match was over, Jericho's partner, Edge, who by the way since this episode of Smackdown was taped, Edge had already gone into surgery due to a torn Achillies Tendon he suffered during a match with Jeff Hardy.

"I hope that Edge makes a speedy recovery because I hope to see him and all the Smackdown/ECW stars when they come back to Cleveland on September 1st at the Q. I'm planning on asking either Michelle McCool or Eve Torres out on a date, so wish me luck, OK?

"Anyway, Edge tried to attack Mysterio, but the Master of the 619 escaped, then as he was ready to go back to the locker room, he was attacked by Dolph Ziggler.

"Ziggler threw Mysterio back in the ring where he was nailed by a Codebreaker from Jericho with some help From Edge, then Ziggler came in the ring and was sizing him up. At this point, I was hoping John Morrison was going to come out and not only to help Rey but get some revenge for the victory that Ziggler stole from him.

"But unfortunetly, Ziggler nailed Mysterio with a hard-hitting neckbreaker of his own. Now we are probably going to see Dolph Ziggler take on Rey Mysterio at the Night of Champions for the Intercontinental Championship.

"I remember back in 1988 when we were thinking that Vince McMahon was still a play by play announcer, he said this back when Randy' Macho Man' Savage was getting double teamed by Andre the Giant and the Million Dollar Man, Ted Dibiase and said, 'if you are going to challenge someone, you come out and challenge them like a man, you don't take someone from behind.

"I'm so sure that Mysterio is going to make Ziggler pay for his actions."
My thoughts: Definently so. Rey Rey is gonna make Dolph pay for sure for tarnishing his huge celebration for winning the IC title like that.

    7/10/09 Double Dirt Sheet

Sunday, July 12, 2009, 10:49 AM EST [General]

"It was not one but 2 doses of WWE action last night. First it was a special edition of ECW last night on SYFY,(this is what they are going to call themselves now) and of course, WWE Superstars on WGN America.

    FIRST FROM ECW:

Last night, the current ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer was the guest of Abraham Washington's on the Abraham Washington Show.

"Washington instead of bragging about his high ratings, he was taking all kinds of shots at Dreamer, but Dreamer said something to him and if I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty damn sure that he said that at least that I don't have my hair stapled to my head like you do. Woah snap, Dreamer did not just go there, but it looks like he did to me.

"Washington asked who he wanted to win last night's ECW main event between Christian and Vladimir Kozlov, and Dreamer said that he wanted Christian to win.

"But he said that it has nothing to do with the fact that they are friends. This resulted in Kozlov invading the ring giving Dreamer a huge staredown.

"So it was Christian taking on Vladimir Kozlov with the winner taking on Dreamer at the Night of Champions for the ECW Championship.

"Kozlov was running like a One Man Gang, taking control of the match as he sent Captain Charisma outside the ring. Kozlov went after Christian and tried sending him into the ring post, but he countered and sent Kozlov in the ring instead. Christian comes off the top rope and nails Kozlov right between the eyes and the bridge of the nose, goes for the cover and only gets a 2 count.

"Kozlov had Christian in a backbreaker and nails him with a hard hitting move and goes for the cover but only gets a 2 count. Christian has some fight left in him.

"Kozlov tried to ram his head into Christian, but misses and Christian nails him with the Killswitch to get the win, and he will be facing Tommy Dreamer at the Night of Champions for the ECW Championship.

"Keep this in mind, Christian was never pinned when he lost the ECW Championship at Extreme Rules.

"I will agree with Dreamer when he said that Christian's victory over Kozlov was considered an upset."
My thoughts: Upset is the right word, because Vladimir Kozlov at the early point of his WWE career went undefeated, so Christian did an awesome job taking down a giant tower such as the Moscow Mauler.

"Last week on ECW, Shelton Benjamin made his return to the Land of Extreme thanks in part to the 15 superstar trade made by Donald Trump, and lost to Yoshi Tatsu with just one kick to the head.

"Last night on ECW, Benjamin got his rematch, and I finally got to see what exactly Tatsu can do in the ring, and I have to say that I'm very impressed with his martial arts skills, and I truly think that he will make his mark in the ECW brand. What a great addition he is.

However, it wasn't enough to put away Benjamin for the second week in a row as Tatsu was nailed with some Paydirt to get the win and perhaps some revenge after what happened last week."
My thoughts: Well, I must say, I agree with you when you say Yoshi Tatsu is an awesome addition to ECW. He might not have the same aerial skills as Evan Bourne, but he's definently gonna add some excitement to ECW every Tuesday night.

"It's been a while since we have seen Ezekial Jackson on WWE television since he was drafted to ECW back in April. In fact if I'm not mistaken, I think that he was spending some time in FCW, which was the WWE's territorial development.

'But nonetheless, Jackson made his first appearence on ECW since being drafted, and made quick work of a local competitor. I'll be honest with you, I think that Ezekial Jackson is better off without the Brian Kendrick."
My thoughts: Definently, because now he can show his own in-ring skills, and man, he showed a whole lot of power out there.

"The oh so sexy Nikki Bella had her first match on ECW against Katie Lea Burchill. Nikki showed off a great deal of strong and sly in-ring skills, but when the referee and Burchill's back was turned, the Bellas pulled the pld switcheroo, like they used to do when they were on Smackdown, in order to get the win.:
My thoughts: Well, thank goodness the Abraham Washington didn't tear the Bellas apart last week, because they worked pretty good as a team last night.

    FROM WWE SUPERSTARS:

"I think that I'm going to continue on talking about ECW now that I'm talking about last night's WWE Superstars, so let's continue.

"Last week on WWE Superstars, Zack Ryder's undefeated streak continued when he beat newcomer from FCW, Tyler Reks. Last night, Reks had a chance to get a little bit of revenge for that loss against the possible member of the VH1 Tool Academy.

"Reks has it all, and I'm making reference to his wrestling ability, agility and his  athleticism to put away Ryder, that's how good Reks is, and I think that it is time to push Reks.

"Ryder went for the Zack Attack, but Reks countered and goes for the cover, but only gets a 2 count.

"Ryder tried again with the Zack Attack and this time gets the win, I think that it goes without saying that Zack Ryder can be the superstar to watch in the WWE."
My thoughts: I gotta say, I thought the second time could be the charm for Reks, but still, awesome, awesome job in there.

"R-Truth saw action last night on WWE Superstars when he took on the so-called motivational speaker, Ricky Ortiz.

"Ortiz tried giving R-Truth one of his motivational speeches, but Truth wasn't going to listen. Ortiz had the match in his favor, but Truth started to get fired up, but ran into a sidewalk Slam. Then Ortiz went for the Big O but misses. Truth rolls up Ortiz but only gets a 2 count.

"Truth powerslams Ortiz moments later and only gets a 2 count. Then out of nowhere, Truth nails Ortiz with the Lie Detector to get the win.

"Truth may have won the match, but Ortiz was the Dominate one."
My thoughts: Ricky Ortiz was definently the dominant one, and I bet in future matches, Ricky Ortiz can definently pile up a few wins with his incredible strength.

"Then in a match made by Vince McMahon, Chavo Guerrero took on little Hornswoggle while down on his knees. [Go figure]

"Guerrero went to the Ropes while on his knees and went off to nail Hornswoggle, but paid for it.

"Then the former ECW Champion goes for the 3 Amigo's while being on his knees, [OH BOY] but the 3rd was blocked by Little Horny. Guerrero was about to suplex him off the top rope, but Hornswoggle bit him on his thumb and Chavo fell on the canvas flat on his back.

"Then Hornswoggle finished him off with the Tadpole Splash to get the win.

"Chavo from now on will pick on somebody his own size, I hope."
My thoughts: Same here, but man, was that match hilarious!:D It reminded me of the days of Doink and his clown pal, Dink.

    7/7/09 RAW Dirt Sheet

Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 06:59 PM EST [General]

"It has been proven 2 weeks ago when Vince McMahon bought back Monday Night Raw that everybody had a price. But with the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase as guest host of Raw last night, everybody didn't have a price. Everybody was put on notice including his own son.

"Last night he made a match as the new WWE Unified Tag Team Champions, Edge and Chris Jericho are to defend against Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes, but last night on Raw, Edge and Jericho had a non-title rematch against former champions Primo and Carlito.

"And once again thanks to Primo, who was speared by Edge, Edge and Jericho won the match. After the match was over, Carlito could not hold his frustration any longer as he threw his brother into the ring post then after that he slammed him up against the announce table before taking off back to the locker room.

"Primo gave it his all in the last 2 weeks. Why can't Carlito see that?"
My thoughts: Indeed not. It looks as though Carlito is gonna go back to his apple spitting at people's faces bad attitude. More serious news, though-- Edge has been injured with a torn achilles tendon, so he's gonna be out of action for about 4-5 months, meaning either Jericho's gotta find a new partner, or Y2J's gonna have to give up the belts and let someone else win the belts.

"The Million Dollar Man wasn't done as he made 2 more matches as Cody Rhodes took on the World's Strongest Man, Mark Henry. Before the match got started, Rhodes tried to bribe the Million Dollar Man to call the match off, but Dibiase wouldn't do it, and he took the money anyway.

"When the match got started, the World's Strongest Man was dominating his opponent, as Rhodes was being pummeled to the point where he single-handedly got himself counted out when he was heading back to the locker room after being nailed with the World's Strongest Slam."
My thoughts: Well, at least Cody wasn't bribed into wearing polka dots like his dear old dad-- LOL

"The other match Ted Dibiase made was pitting his own son, Ted Dibiase Jr. against Randy Orton.

"The younger Dibiase was in shock as well as outraged. He could not believe that his own flesh and blood would do that to him. But when Orton said that he could beat him, that made Ted Dibiase Jr's attitude change.

"The match was on and the younger Dibiase showed that he is definetly more than just a henchmen, Ted Dibiase Jr. is one gifted superstar in the WWE, and he definetly proved it last night against Randy Orton.

"But when Dibiase went for Dream Street, Orton countered and nailed him with the RKO to get the win.

"Later on after the match, the Million Dollar Man told his son what a great job he did, but the younger Dibiase felt that he was being set up and **** slapped his dad in the face."
My thoughts: I almost expected it, but damn, I had no idea that Dibiase Sr would be slapped the way he did. I'm sure that had to tear him apart.

"Meanwhile back out in the arena, it was time for the VIP Lounge with MVP, and his guest was the All American American Jack Swagger.

"MVP mentioned to Swagger about what he did last week when he single handedly lost to Randy Orton by a count out. In return, Swagger brought up what MVP went through when he was a kid when he spent 10 years in prison.

"MVP told Swagger that he wasn't ashamed of his troubled past and that he influences young kids to do the right thing in order to avoid going to prison. But when Swagger tried to insult him, MVP challenged him. Swagger left the ring to go back to the locker room and told him that he doesn't fight anybody beneath him.

    "He didn't just go there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
My thoughts: Indeed he didn't, my friend. The All American American has just dug himself into a hole so deep, he's gonna want to ask a girl scout to get him out.

"Back to more wrestling action as the United States Champion, Kofi Kingston took on Evan Bourne, and, oh what a great match this was. Bourne was out to avenge his loss to Randy Orton last week, and even though Kingston himself gave it a vailant effort against this high flyer, Bourne nails Kingston with his Shooting Star Press to get the win.

"After the match was over, the Big Show came out and attacked Kingston, but had some help from Bourne. In the end though, both Bourne and Kingston were left laying in the ring with painful scraps and bruises.

"This was from last week when the Big Show and Kingston match ended up a double countout, and I would love to see a rematch between Bourne and Kingston, but this time it would be for the United States Championship.

"I remember last year at Cyber Sunday if I'm not mistaken, Evan Bourne had a chance to win the ECW Championship and showed that he was worthy of being champion.

"I say give Bourne the rematch against Kingston and let him become the new United States Champion."
My thoughts: My sentiments exactly. I would love to see Kofi and Bourne go at it again for the US Title.

"In Divas action, it was the Divas Champion Maryse teaming up with Alicia Fox taking on Mickie James and Gail Kim.

"James continues to run circles around the Divas Champion, and I think with her and James having matches like these, it can give us great indications as to what is going to happen when the 2 meet at the Night of Champions.

"When the glitter, shall we say finally settled between these 4 sexy ladies, it was Gail Kim who scored the pin over the Divas Champion, softening her up even more for Mickie James to take the belt from her."
My thoughts: You know, I was proud of Gail Kim for showing RAW viewers that she definently has no ring rust at all since returning to Smackdown.

"In the main event, in which the winner will face Randy Orton at the Night of Champions for the WWE Championship, it was Triple H vs John Cena.

"These 2 have met in the past. They have met at Wrestmania 22 in which John Cena won to take his first WWE Championship.

"They also have met last year at Night of Champions in which Triple H won.

"So last night was the rubber match, and these 2 did not disappoint the WWE Universe by no means at all.

"The momentum between Cena and the Game was going back and forth until they were battle weary, then all of a sudden, they were attacked by Rhodes and Dibiase making this match a double DQ.

"However, the Million Dollar Man came out and said that Randy Orton will face both Triple H and John Cena at the Night of Champions for the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat match.

"Just like they did back at Wrestlemania 24, but this time, I hope that the ending is a little different."
My thoughts: Same here, Robbie. I can only hope the match is better than their showdown at Wrestlemania 24.

    7/6/09 Smackdown Dirt Sheet

Monday, July 6, 2009, 07:07 PM EST [General]

"First off, I hope that everybody in the WWE Universe has had a great 4th of July weekend, and here we go with your Smackdown recap from last Friday night. Hey, better late than never, right?

"Friday Night Smackdown started out with the World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk addressing the WWE Universe as to how sick and tired he is about the eye injury controversy at the Bash.

"Punk denied any fowl play that he caused, claiming that he accidently hit the referee causing him to get disqualified when the truth is he singlehandedly allowed himself to get DQ'd, because Punk himself realizes that he can't beat Jeff Hardy fairly.

"So Punk called out Hardy wanting him to apologize for the accusations, but instead Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long comes out and makes a rematch between Jeff Hardy and CM Punk at the Night of Champions.

"Long also had Punk and Hardy team up to take on the new WWE Unified Tag Team Champions, Edge and Chris Jericho, and Punk pulled the same stunt on Hardy two different times during the course of the match when Hardy tried to tag him in.

"However, when Punk was trying to tag Hardy, he clutched his eye in pain and fell from the ring apron, leaving the Straight Edge Superstar to fend for himself.

'Punk did fight back, and without realizing that Edge was tagged in, Punk nailed Jericho with the GTS, but Edge nailed him with the Spear, to get the win.

"After the match was over, as Jeff Hardy was on his way back to the locker room, Hardy revealed his wide eyes to the WWE Universe and got a little bit of seeing revenge.
My thoughts: You know the old saying, an eye for an eye? Hardy proved it to Punk firsthand.

"Making his return to Smackdown thanks in part to the 15 superstar trade made by Donald Trump, Finlay saw action against Ricky Ortiz who gave him a little bit of inspiration before the match got started as he was telling him to rally up.

"But Finlay wanted to make his presence known on Friday nights when he nailed Ortiz with a brutal Celtic Cross to get the win.

"I was having mixed emotions in regards to Finlay being traded to Smackdown from ECW, because I would have loved to see he and Sheamus team up. What a great tag team that would have been."
My thoughts: Indeed so. The mix of Finlay and Sheamus would have been perhaps one of the most dominant tag teams today, and could have possibly kicked the tag team division up another notch.

"Fresh off his victory at the Bash against the Great Khali, Dolph Ziggler, who was having a whole new ounce of confidence, took on R-Truth.

"Truth did take the fight to Ziggler, but Ziggler had to have gained a lot of momentum going to this match after gaining a huge victory over Khali, thanks to some help from the Big Red Monster Kane, as Ziggler nailed Truth with a vicious neckbreaker to get the win."
My thoughts: Man, I never expected Dolph Ziggler to be on quite the streak he is on now, but I can't help but wonder who Dolph is gonna target next.

"Speaking of Kane, he had some unfinished business last Friday night on Smackdown as he took on the Intercontinental Champion, Rey Mysterio. Mysterio has beaten Kane in the past, so you know that Mysterio has all the tools he needs to get by someone as big as Kane.

"But unforutnatly when Kane was set up for the 619, Kane countered and got the win over Mysterio, but Kane wasn't done as he was about to do more damage to Mysterio, but the Great Khali came to Rey's rescue as he was looking for revenge after what Kane did to him at the Bash when he cost him a win over Dolph Ziggler at the Bash."
My thoughts: Man, I gotta admit, seeing another confrontation between Kane and Khali would definently be another showdown for the ages.

"Cryme Tyme had their episode of Word Up with the super-sexy Eve with them. You have to see this on YouTube in order to know what I'm talking about.

"But after it was done, they had a match with the Hart Dynasty who was also traded to Smackdown from ECW.

"The Hart Dynasty had a great streak going while being on ECW, but the question was could they have just as good of a streak on Smackdown?

"That wasn't the case last Friday night when the referee was trying to maintain order on the other side of the ring, JTG used the ropes, throwing David Hart Smith of the ropes allowing Shad to drive him in the canvas to get the win."
My thoughts: Well, Cryme Tyme is sure backing up their words very well. I bet we could see them become Tag champs in the future with a huge win against the Hart Dynasty.

"Once again I'm saving the best for last as the new WWE Women's Champion Michelle McCool and Layla teamed up to take on Maria and the former WWE Women's Champion Melina.

"Melina got a small measure of revenge from McCool, but quickly tagged Layla, allowing her to feel the wrath of a former Women's Champion, as she gets the win for her team.

"I think that Melina just sent a message to McCool that she will get her rematch."
My thoughts: After seeing the look on Melina's face afterwards, I bet she is definently thinking about getting her a rematch and getting that Women's title back from McCool. I wonder if we could see a rematch at Night of Champions?
