"Well, it was another new PPV for the WWE, and let me say, that by the way that some of these matches went, the WWE creative team needs to at this point in time, get their moral level a great big boost or maybe perhaps a great big makeover. I'll tell you about it as I'm recapping.
"Here's a look at last night's action.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
World Heavyweight Championship Match:
CM Punk
-----vs---
The Undertaker
"It was the first match out of the gate, and for the Undertaker, it was a chance at some revenge after the screwjob that took place at Breaking Point. Yes, everybody in Newark, N.J was glued on the edge of their seats since the match got started, and both men were battling it out until the point of exhaustion. Then all of a sudden, the Undertaker nails Punk with a Tombstone and once again becomes the new World Heavyweight Champion for a 7th time.
"Now here is the real story behind this. There was a recent tour overseas that the WWE had, and CM Punk did something that made WWE Management and probably Vince McMahon, very unhappy, and that's why their match was first and Punk having to drop the title. But I don't think that the Undertaker's title reign is going to last very long because of his injured hip. I'm sure that he will drop it soon for him to go into surgery.
"I wouldn't be surprised to see the Undertaker retire after Wrestlemania 26.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Intercontinental Championship Match:
John Morrison
----vs----------
Dolph Ziggler
"One of the top 3 favorite matches according to WRESTLING-RADIO.com, and for a very good reason.
"Both Morrison and Ziggler have impressed me as well as a lot of people in the WWE Universe with their in-ring skills, even by WWE standards. I've got a great feeling that the WWE Behind The Scenes people are looking at these 2 very, very closely. I'm sure that we are going to see John Morrison main event a Wrestlemania somewhere down the line, and Ziggler is well on his way to doing so as well.
"But after holding a victory over Mike Knox and Finlay to become the number 1 contender, Ziggler came close on several occasions to becoming the new Intercontinental Champion. In the end though, Morrison came back and put away Mr. Ziggles with his Starship Pain to get the win and retain his Intercontinental Championship.
"It is guys like John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler that is the future of the WWE, and they will keep them going for years to come, I've got a feeling. They have been doing a stellar job with pushing these guys.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WWE DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
Mickie James
-----vs-----
Alicia Fox
"We all know they are smart, sexy and powerful, and great inside the ring. Fox, of course, ever since she won the right to face James for the Divas Championship has done nothing but create a psych-out job on her, hoping to make her easy pickings for last night.
"Yes, it was an extremely physical battle between these 2. If you ask me, I think that James had to have Fox's antics in the back of her mind as she nailed her with a hard-hitting DDT to get the win and retain the WWE Divas Championship.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Unified WWE Tag Team Championship Match:
Chris Jericho and The Big Show
------------vs----------------
Batista and Rey Mysterio
"First off, I want to say that I'm very happy to see Rey back in action after his 30 day suspension, especially teaming up with the Animal. I do remember actually, back in 2005 when they neat MNM for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
"Last night, Mysterio proved that during his time away, that he was getting himself prepared both mentally and physically for his comeback, and against a guy like the Big Show. You have to, but Mysterio is no stranger to fighting guys the size of the Big Show. I was real impressed with the way that he handled himself in the ring against the Big Show, and let's not forget the way that he handled himself against Jericho. Remember back at Extreme Rules when Jericho tried taking his mask?
"Despite a great effort of teamwork by the Animal and the Master of the 619, and thanks to a hard-hitting right hand from the Big Show onto Mysterio, Jericho and the Big Show are still the Unified WWE Tag Team Champions.
"And from what I was reading on Wrestling-Radio.com Jericho was booed out of the arena in Batista's defense.
-------------------------------------------------------
HELL IN A CELL MATCH FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP:
John Cena
---Vs----
Randy Orton
"It was Cena's first Hell in a Cell match and for Orton, it was his second, so you had to give the advantage to Orton, as much as it pains me to say it.
"Orton still had what happened at Breaking Point fresh in his mind when Cena made him say 'I quit'.
"Orton was using the same tactics that he used on Cena at Breaking Point, and Cena did fight back, going as far as countering his RKO. Cena even made Orton tap out to his STFU, but there was no referee, because he was knocked out. After Cena brought the referee back in the ring, Orton once again nailed him with his RKO and got a near fall. Then Orton had Cena wrapped in the ropes and Orton began choking Cena until he was blue in the face. Then Cena passes out and Orton nailed him with his punt to the skull and Orton once again is the WWE Champion.
"That made the crowd in Newark, NJ go crazy because they were so into Orton, and Cena was booed out of the ring. I wonder if this could be the start of John Cena's heel turn that we have been hearing about for months."
--------------------------------------------------------------
R-Truth
----vs----
Drew McIntyre
"I don't know why this match was a part of Hell In a Cell. Based on the poll that I was reading on Wrestling-Radio.com, nobody really cared for this match at all, but I will say this-- it was actually nice to see what Drew McIntyre can do inside the ring, even though he won over R-Truth, and that's the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Triple Threat Match For The United States Championship
Kofi Kingston vs.The Miz Vs Jack Swagger
"Overcoming odds is something that the United States Champion, Kofi Kingston really knows how to do. This match was the most challenging in his career since becoming champion back in the Summer.
"The Miz and Swagger tried working together in the hopes of defeating Kingston, but their egos really got the best of them. That right there was Kingston's chance to strike.
"The perfect moment came for Kingston when Swagger gave the Miz his Gutwrench Powerbomb, then Kofi gave Swagger a little Trouble in Paradise to get the win and retain the United States Championship.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hell in a Cell Match:
Degeneration X
-------VS-----
Legacy
"As Degeneration X was headed to the ring, they were attacked from behind by Rhodes and Dibiase, recreating a scene from Breaking Point. They even went as far as knocking out Triple H on the stage, leaving Shawn Michaels to fend for himself.
"Triple H did try to look for a way to get inside the cage, but couldn't, so he went backstage and came back out with wire cutters, and finally got inside the cage, and all hell broke loose.
"The Game took a chain that they used to keep the cage door locked and nailed Dibiase with it, and he ended up outside the cage.
"All of a sudden, Cody Rhodes was alone against DX, trying to fend for himself. The Game had a chair in which he stuck Cody Rhodes' head through, and Micheals came down on him, with Dibiase going crazy. Then, before Micheals could give Rhodes some Sweet Chin Music, Triple H went and got a Sledgehammer. Micheals nailed Rhodes with some Sweet Chin Music, then gets nailed with the hammer and DX were the winners of the match.
"After the match was over, Ted Dibiase was tending to his partner, and he too got some Sweet Chin Music.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"So I will say that it was a good PPV, but to tell the truth, it could have been better. If the WWE Creative Team hadn't been so exhausted from their overseas tour and coming back to give a good Raw at the last minute, that was their own fault, but I'm sure that they got plenty of rest and we are going to get a great Raw tonight, right????"
I can only hope so, Rob! Still, I'm in awe that the WWE was able to pull off a Hell in a Cell match without blood. Have a great RAW, everyone!:D
