A while back I wrote a poem about my late, and beloved cocker spaniel Rosie, It's called A Treasure From Above. Well, I entered it into Poetry.com's contest. I felt that Rosie was so unique & special that I had to find a way to share her story with the world. While this was just a poem, and not anywhere near to being her story in its entirety...it painted her picture I think.
Anyway, about a week ago, I got an email (also through snail mail), saying that my poem had been selected to be entered into a yearly contest where the grand prize is $10,000, and I am also a semi-finalist in a monthly contest with a grand prize of $1,000, PLUS...my poem is going to be in a book titled Immortal Verses (they did say that by the time it gets published that the title may change however) And then today, I received an email stating that I was being awarded the Editor's Choice Award! I was/am SO excited! I mean it's not like I have won an actual prize, but it's still so cool. They also informed me that my poem will be read and recorded by a professional reader and put to a CD with beautiful baroque music in the background. The cool part is that they said that they only do the CD ever so often, AND that only 33 people's poems get selected for recording! Anyway, I'm so very happy about it. Here is a couple of screen shots of my online certificate thingy. I blacked out my last name on the letter and certificate. Sorry, it's nothing personal, I've just learned in the past that even giving out your last name can be hazardous.
I'll post my poem again at the bottom since I'd revised it a bit since the last time I posted it. It's copyrighted now!! How awesome is that?!

A Treasure From Above
I’ll never forget the day I first saw her.
A blond bundle of joy with silky, soft fur,
And big brown eyes that were lively and round.
She was too mesmerized by us to even make a sound.
Little did she know that we were already in love;
That she truly was a gift from the Lord above.
I miss her sweet, angelic face.
I miss her childish attitude when I'd get on her case.
And how she'd snuggle on the couch and lay her head on our laps.
She'd even let us dress her up; right down to baseball caps.
I miss twirling her curly locks around my fingers,
But am thankful to have her sweater,
where her doggy scent still lingers.
I'll think of her when snow falls,
About how she loved to try and catch snowballs.
And when Christmas came knocking,
She always knew which was her own stocking.
She was both a daughter, and a sister we never had.
She was always happy, and never seemed to feel sad.
Although mere words cannot describe
How special she truly was, and is, to this family tribe.
She was perfect for us in every way.
We shall miss her to our dying day.
But then be reunited; forever to stay.
