According to those close to Mickie James, the multi-time women's champion has begun contemplating retirement.
As noted earlier, James, who is now 30 years old, has been very frustrated with her standing in the company in recent months. It has also come to light that she has been working with a debilitating arm injury. As a result, James has begun contemplating leaving the industry which she has spent the last ten years in.
James has prepared herself for life after wrestling as she began pursuing a college degree online a few years ago. She has received her Associate of Arts degree in business administration and at last word, was studying for her Bachelor of Arts degree in operations management.
"I felt like I needed to do this, and I wanted something to fall back on. You never know - if I got hurt or something like that - where would I go from there?" James told WWE.com in a 2006 interview. "I set myself up so I'm prepared, no matter what."
By earning her bachelor's degree, James would be able to open and run her own businesses - something she has many ideas about.
"I've always wanted to run my horse farm. So I'd definitely like to have a background to understand that," she said, referring to her lifelong passion for horses."
We also posted last week here on the blog that Mickie was interested in a country music career. Here is what we reported:
It would appear that Mickie James has her sights set on becoming a country music star. Radio and music industry website AllAccess.com is reporting that the WWE Diva has signed with Nashville-based management agents James and Sherry Massaro of Skyline Management Group, which specializes in the development of country music artists. The multi-time Women's champion has also signed on with Absolute Publicity to handle her public relations. The article states that she is expected to announce her intentions within the next few weeks. Mickie recently hired Nashville-based image consultant/stylist Lori Bumgarner to help further her burgeoning country music career. In an interview with Play3-Live.com, Edge said he is on "the path to coming back" and that he's now able to walk without crutches. He said it's been a "hard injury and a painful injury." He said that he would return next year, and that he'd love to be back for WrestleMania, but that he doesn't know for sure when he'll be ready.
Hulk Hogan spoke to Minnesota's City Pages newspaper this week and made some interesting things to say about his relationship with Vince McMahon in the 1980s, how much power he'll have in TNA and what it meant to announce his partnership with TNA at Madison Square Garden. To read the whole interview, visit Citypages.com.
Hogan claims that Vince "didn't really understand the business" after buying the company from from his father, Vince McMahon, Sr. "I moved in next door to him in Connecticut and taught him all about lifting weights and riding motorcycles and partying like a mad man; and then I taught him about the wrestling business and making money," Hogan said. "And now I'm doing that again with TNA Wrestling."
Hogan also talked himself up as the savior for TNA. He said the company agreed that he could have a "Vince McMahon role" calling the shots for TNA. Hogan says he will be "unofficially" running the promotion and will have the same if not more influence than he had during his run in WCW.
"All I told these guys was that they should give me a chance. If they didn't like what I was doing they can tell me to take a hike, but let me have the chance to come in and take a shot at it," Hogan said. "Let the fans and the other wrestlers take a look and decide for themselves what they're in to and I'm confident that I will get this thing rockin'."
Hogan is already crediting himself with generating the most buzz for TNA in its history and explains the significance of announcing his partnership with TNA Wrestling at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
"The proof is already out there. In the course of a few days we've got more buzz going for TNA Wrestling then it's had in seven years. For example, no other wrestling organization had ever been able to get into Madison Square Garden in New York for like, 100 years, because Vince owns it and his family owned it before him. So I came in and was like, 'Watch this.; And we did a press conference at Madison Square Garden.
The on-again off-again feud between Hulk Hogan and ex-wife Linda appears to be on again due to Hulk described Linda as an "abusive alcoholic" in his new book, "My Life Outside the Ring."
"As far as what he has said about Linda, it's not accurate about her being involved with heavy alcohol and being abusive, and trying to hit Nick with a wine bottle? Absolutely false," attorney Ray Rafool stated.
"It's disappointing and it is irritating. We disagree and wish he would have stuck to the facts instead of sensationalism to sell his book. It does reheat a lot of stuff, but it makes her feel all the more happy that she's divorced and away from him. He's Jennifer's problem now."
"You can now understand the fear that Linda had when she was going through the divorce because she knows his personality, heard these rumors, knew what he was doing, and that's the reason why she was so concerned. We're thankful that at this point, he has straightened his life out," Rafool said.
A rep for Hulk says that he "stands by what is written in the book."

Warning: The following information contains a spoiler for tonight's TNA Impact taping
- Former ECW and NWA Champion Raven is backstage in Orlando for tonight' TNA iMPACT! taping and will appear on tonight's show. The feeling backstage is that he's signed a short-term deal with the company.
- Former WWE tag champion Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart is also currently backstage tonight's taping. Neidhart was the longtime partner of WWE Hall of Famer Bret "Hitman" Hart and is the father of WWE Diva Natalya. He's expected to be used on-camera tonight. For those wondering if this is a result of Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff's affiliation and a sign that more early 1990's wrestlers are headed to TNA (ie. Brutus Beefcake & the Nasty Boys), we're told that Neidhart was booked for tonight's show before Hogan and Bischoff signed with the company.
The show that is taped tonight will air next Thursday, 11/12
