Tommy Dreamer could not have written it any better last night for himself....Almost, that is.
Less than six weeks before his current contract expires. Spinning his wheels being parts of tag team and six man matches. The wick in the candle of opportunity was getting ever so smaller for him. But last night in the world's most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, the original ECW member took it upon himself to evidently realize what I just alluded to, and challenged Christian to an ECW Championship Match, to which the new titleholder agreed to. And props to Interim General Manager Tiffany for green lighting it, despite the objection of one Jack Swagger.
I want to interject here a little personal feeling that's hard to shake. Nothing against my friend Tony Chimel, but would it have been cool if the Fink returned to his "home" in the Big Apple to have made the ring announcements for that particular championship match? Nonetheless, with the aforementioned Mr. Swagger interjecting himself into the Christian-Dreamer match to cause a disqualification, the question now beckons to me: Is that Dreamer's only title match opportunity? Is he per say one and done? I hope not. I hope that there will be another day for Dreamer, and soon. He is deserving of another match, and if / when that happens, I hope that the esteemed interim GM will bar any outside interference from taking place.
I enjoyed the Tyson Kidd-Finlay match very much. Despite the fact that the outcome of said match was not favorable to the fighting Irishman, and it was albeit somewhat tainted, Kidd should take with him not only the victory, but also should tuck the experience that he got in wrestling Finlay into his mind. Matches like those against grizzled veterans like Finlay can only make tomorrow's superstars that much better by what they learned today.
From Russia with Love? Well, James Bond is wasn't, but Vladimir Kozlov it was. As I mentioned last week, Kozlov is a top notch acquisition for ECW via the draft, and the sight of him in his military attire was, to me, very interesting. I am still hoping that the Moscow Mauler goes right for the jugular and into the fire of competition that ECW has to offer, sooner than later.
Concerning ECW's new interviewer Gregory Helms: To be somewhat carbon copy-ish on something he himself said, I'm wondering: "What's Up With That"?
I hope that Tiffany gets my favorite ECW acquisition Ezekiel Jackson out of the gate and into the mix soon. 'Zeke has my "can't miss" tag on him, so he better not disappoint the masses :)
And completely off the ECW perch for a bit: I just wanted to mention that I had the opportunity to make my first visit last Saturday to the new home of the New York Mets, Citi Field. What a ballpark, and what a fun experience; I really had a blast!!! And of course, I would not lie if I did not have my wrestling mentality enter my mind...New stadium....big WWE event! Heck, the former Mets' home (Shea Stadium) hosted WWE events in 1972, 1976, and 1980. It's just wishful thinking, but I can just imagine......
And finally, Just as a quick reminder, next Tuesday, May 5, ECW will start at its new time of 10 PM ET/9CT on Sci-Fi. Make sure you're there as well.
Comments please? They're welcomed.
Thanks, and I'm out....

I have to give Tiffany props for coming out boldly and not showing any fear. That was pretty good. Is it just me, or I'm getting more annoyed with this pathetic excuse of a talent, Jack Swagger? Send him back to FCW please!
