No Way Out 2009 -- Review

    Monday, February 16, 2009, 01:27 PM GMT [Reviews/Results]

Before I saw this PPV, the card looked pretty weak, and I wasn't predicting anything special, except Cena and Edge retaining, Shane dies, etc. But WWE really pulled something out of the bag here, and totally surprised me the whole night. I literally jumped out of my seat a few times, it was just awesome. Here we go with the match reviews.

WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match: Edge (c) vs Big Show vs Triple H vs Vladimir Koslov vs The Undertaker vs Jeff Hardy

I was in shock when Edge was eliminated. I was screaming and punching stuff lol. But that's why the PPV was so good, you didn't see it coming, and I was so damn certain Edge would retain. But anything can happen in the WWE. This match was good, but I was hoping for more action with the cage, rather than the same spots in the ring. But it was still a good chamber match, and I'm not really that bothered about Triple H winning. He's now a 13-Time Champ, and I guess it makes sense for someone like him to go into Wrestlemania as champion. But the titles mean nothing nowadays, and last year was basically Triple H holding the thing for what, 7 months? Oh well, it's better than seeing Undertaker with it.

    Rating: 7.5/10

No Holds Barred Match: Shane McMahon vs Randy Orton

I think we all knew who would win. But it was still a great match, imo. Simply because Shane just didn't sit there and die, which he easily could of. No, instead we saw some great action from these two, and it was more hardcore than the chamber matches tbh. I cried when Orton was busted open =( Lol but yeah, a good match and I didn't expect it to go on this long, but okay. We also had a run-in from the Legacy, but they didn't do much help and Cody had his face smashed in with a trash can, in a move Shane calls 'Coast to Coast.' Lol what a name. Anyway, Orton soon regained control and RKO'd Shane to pick up the win =)

    Rating: 8/10

'All or Nothing' Match: Shawn Michaels vs JBL

The build-up to this has been great, and while I know alot of people, like myself, weren't keen on the feud at first, it's really growing on me. Sure, the idea that HBK could be broke is pretty dumb, but if you forget that, it works as a damn good feud. The suggestion to bring HBK's wife, Rebecca, was good too, as it can add more emotion to a match. Another moment that made me jump was when Rebecca hit JBL at ringside. Then, when HBK started dominating and hit the Sweet Chin Music, it put a huge smile on my face. This match was really unpredicitable as to who would win, but I honestly thought it'd be JBL, to make the feud last a little longer. The ending was great though, but I would've liked to see this happen at Wrestlemania. Still, an okay match with good emotion behind it, and the ending was really sweet.

    Rating: 7/10

ECW Championship Match: Jack Swagger (c) vs Finlay

I was firmly rooting for Swagger here. I knew this would be a good 'wrestling' match, although it was kinda...eh. It wasn't amazing, but it was decent and the two pulled off some nice spots. Swagger is clearly gifted in the ring, and it was a very solid match. Not Wrestlemania worthy imo, but worthy of a normal PPV. Much better than some of the ECW matches in the last year, and it looks as though WWE is starting to care more about their 'C' Brand.

    Rating: 6/10

World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber Match: John Cena (c) vs Rey Mysterio vs Chris Jericho vs Mike Knox vs Kane vs Edge

I was not expecting what happened, to happen. At all. I'm glad it was Kofi he took out of the match too ;) But yeah, Edge came running down during Kofi's entrance, and attacked him, and entered himself into the match. I was like 'What the hell?!' but also very, very happy =P So Kofi was now out of the match. God help us if there's a Kofi/Edge feud. God help us. Anyway, it was a much more exciting match to watch than the Smackdown chamber, as you had a much more varied selection of superstars and wrestling styles in there. Jericho was good in this match, as was Rey. I'm annoyed Kane went out so quickly, but he's Raw's resident jobber now, it was expected. Knox was eliminated quite quickly too, so that's a good thing. Some very good Jericho/Rey action. Cena didn't do much here at all, although I was expecting him to retain, but when you see Edge entering himself in the match, you can't just have him there and make him lose. When it got down to Rey/Edge, I was really getting scared Mysterio would win lol. I would scream if he won. The amount of roll-ups this guy had, ugh lol. Nice spear at the end too ;) The new WHC....Edge? =D Hopefully now he goes to Raw and we see Orton vs Cena vs Edge at WM =D

Rating: 9/10 (I'm not being biased here. At all. =P)

Maybe I'm being too nice here, but I really, really enjoyed this PPV. It shocked me the whole way through, and that's something we haven't seen from the WWE in a while. Usually, I can predict these things, and I'm right 90% of the time. But not here. And hopefully, Wrestlemania is even better. I'm mega pumped for it now! =D

    I've got just one question.

    Are you ready?

    Peace, love, wrestling =)

    Smackin It Down'

    Saturday, September 20, 2008, 04:05 PM GMT [Reviews/Results]

Welcome all to yet another Hardy/RKOGurl Blog (Like the new name? Frank inspired it). Okay so I wanted to just tell you my thoughts on Smackdown, Triple H and a few other random things. Away we go peeps!

The whole Koslov thing...I liked the idea at first but now it's getting a little stupid. This guy could end up being WWE Champion sooner than we think. BAD TIMES! If they do this, I'll be so annoyed. But his gimmick is pretty cool in my opinion, although I'm not liking how he just beats up the winner of the main event. So unpredictable there writers! [/sarcasm]

Hopefully, if they wanna go over well with the fans, WWE will give Jeff the title that's he's so desperatley needed for about a year or so. Don't get me wrong, I like Triple H, but of course there is backstage power going on there. If he wasn't married to Stephanie, he wouldn't be this big. I'm not blaming all of his success on that, because I can see the chemistry between the two of them, but just think: If Stephanie and Triple H weren't married, Triple H clearly wouldn't be as big as he is now. I loved the McMahon-Helmsley Era, in fact it was probably my favourite time in the entire WWF/E, but currently, Triple H is starting to annoy me. He can't put younger guys over to save his life, and it's the same ol', same ol'...Ranting about how great he is and stuff. So please WWE, I'm begging you here, Give Jeff the title. For crying out loud GIVE THE BOY THE TITLE! YES WE CAN! *I know there has been an incident with him recently, but as far as I read, WWE won't be taking action, although this could be a minor setback in Jeff's 'quest' for that brass ring....Anyway*

    Give me a job. Please.

    Battle Royal/Big Show Thoughts

    Saturday, August 23, 2008, 11:28 AM GMT [Reviews/Results]

I watched Smackdown last night, as I usually do, and was stunned, shocked at the 10-Man-Battle Royal for a qualifying spot. Firstly, why should a jobber, who is yet to prove themself, have an opportunity for the richest prize in WWE? What about 'The' Brian Kendick, who has only been squashing to these jobbers and helped out by Mr T's brother, and he gets an opportunity too?! And WWE are NOT using Super Crazy correctly. He is a great Lucha Libre wrestler, but his talent is going to waste. Then the Big Show was there...WTF?

Here's what I think about the Big Show:

He used to be a scary giant everyone was afraid of. And now when he comes out, he's WAVING TO THE FANS?!! He's like the Incredibl-y Gentle Hulk or something. That's not how he should be used in my opinion, or at least be a bit more serious. Ay ya ya....When will the writers learn?!

But I guess change is good, and everything happens for a reason, eh?

I miss Melina and Orton. I hope they come back soon. My best wishes go out to them and their families.

So yeah that Battle Royal was one of, if not the worst one I've ever witnessed. Not because it was jobbers, but because there was no wrestling involved and Big Show was there for no reason. He faces the greatest fighter in the world, and now he's facing the new guys? Jeez Louise!

Have a great day everyone. As always if you want me on AIM, my screen name is HardyDivaUK.

    HardyGurl's SummerSlam 2008 Review

    Monday, August 18, 2008, 09:24 PM GMT [Reviews/Results]

Happy Monday to all my friends and readers. Thanks for checking out my blog, it's always appreiciated. Anyway, I bought the PPV and couldn't wait to watch it for so many reasons. Mainly the Undertaker vs Edge match, which everyone was anticipating and knew would steal the show, which in my opinion, it did. After a comment from DEN, I've decided not to be as biased in my predicitions and blogs...I guess I just am lol. But WWE is all about showing your support and booing those you don't like, regardless of what others think, but that's for another blog! ;-)

Okay, here we go, kicking off the Biggest Blockbuster of the Summer!

The stage for the show was excellent. It was one of the best I've ever seen, and I hope the stage for Wrestlemania XXV is even bigger and better! This was certainly worthy of Mania. It had a very nice blockbuster theme, which was cool. I hope to see cool stages like this for every PPV, especially the big four. It looks even better in HD.

Jeff Hardy vs MVP: Grudge Match

Jeff got a huge pop, as always, and clearly the rumors of a broken neck are false. This was very entertaining, solid match, and the fans seemed really into it. Jeff could've scored the pin, but of course, like most of his matches over the past few weeks, there was an interference from none other than the US Champion, Shelton Benjamin, who was sporting jeans and some kind of freaky Hawiian Shirt. Lol but enough of his outfit, what the hell was he doing here?! I mean, sure Shelton and Jeff have been in two matches before, but what does Shelton have against him? Jeff didn't beat him because of a distraction. I think MVP and Shelton would make a great tag team. Gold 'n' Ballin' lol. Half Gold, Half Ballin. I don't know, but expect big things from Shelton. Both Shelton and Jeff are worthy of main event status. Not so much MVP, but to his credit, he is an okay wrestler and can put on a good match. Jeff swantoned Shelton, but the distraction cost him the match after a huge kick from MVP. I guess that's MVP's finisher, which I never really knew. MVP got the three count and won, much to the disarry of the Indiana fans.

    Winner via Pinfall: MVP

    Match Rating: **1/2

Then we had a short backstage interview with Maria, Santino and Beth. Santino talked about how Maria is nothing without him or something like that, and his and Beth's new nickname, Glamerella, which I kind of like. Maria seemed quite jealous or angry to be honest, but there will not feud since Maria is on Smackdown and Beth is on Raw, and I don't think it would've been good anyway.

Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix vs Kofi Kingston and Mickie James: Winner Takes All Match for the Women's Championship and IC Championship

This was fun match, and quite comedic in parts (When Kofi nearly jumped on Santino and he ran into Beth's arms) and Santino is always entertaining. Mickie was very good in this match, and her DDT to Santino was very nicely executed. It was mainly Beth and Mickie or Santino and Mickie. Kofi wasn't too involved, and Santino did more entertaning spots than wrestle, but overall it was a good match and fun to watch. I knew Santino and Beth would win, and as much as I love Mickie, her reign was getting boring. I liked Kofi as IC Champ though, because at least he was getting a good push. I was very shocked that WWE didn't do something to shock us, like make Beth, who scored the pin, to take both titles, or for Beth to be IC Champ and Santino to be Women's Champ, which a lot of people, like myself, predicted. But WWE shocked us by not shocking us, if you understand me. But it's not big deal, and Beth Phoenix is a very deserving champion, and could we see a possible Beth and Katie Lea feud? Katie Lea has always wanted gold since she joined Monday Night Raw, and that would certainly make for a great feud with some great matches. Also, at the end of the match, Beth managed to somehow get a 200-something pound man on her shoulders, which is championship material in it's own right!

Winners via Pinfall: Beth Phoenix and Santino Marella

    Match Rating: **1/2

There was a Hardy Boyz DVD commercial, and then Michael Cole mentioned that the Hardy Boyz idol was Shawn Michaels. Cue HBK's music and yes, you know what's coming.

    Shawn Michaels' Announcement

HBK came out to a very big crowd pop, with his beautiful wife, Rebecca. HBK talked about his eye injury, as Rebecca started to swell up with tears. HBK had a smile on his face, so I assumed he wasn't going to retire. But of course, he did, and the fans were probably the loudest they were the entire night, and some were even crying. We all know he'll back soon. Y2J came out as HBK was thanking the fans, and began to ask HBK to admit that Chris Jericho was why he was retiring. HBK said he would sit his children down and tell them he wasn't wrestling because of a vile, selfish human being, and that Chris Jericho should sit his wife and kids down, and tell them he would never be Shawn Michaels. There was a staredown, and Rebecca seemed to be ushuring HBK to leave. Y2J attempted to punch HBK, but as I expected, he threw one at Rebecca. I was in shock, because it looked freakin painful. Y2J walked away, and looked as though he was about to cry. HBK was comforting his wife, and began to stare at Y2J. This was a truly awesome segment, and everyone involved was great. The crowd was in utter shock, and HBK was just fantastic. I think this could be a possible way of involving Rebecca in the company, like they did with Vickie Guerrero (RIP Eddie). I don't think it's a good idea, but it could happen. This obviously shows HBK will not be retiring and will come back to fight Y2J. It would great at Unforgiven, giving the name of the PPV.

    Rating: ****1/2

Matt Hardy vs Mark Henry: ECW Championship Match

This was easily the worst match of the night. Not only would Matt not actually be able to Twist of Fate anyone that quickly, let alone Mark Henry, but it was all of 30 seconds long. And even if Matt did score the pin, the match would've plain sucked and just have been stupid, because Mark Henry simply can't fall that fast. Tony Atlas got an ass whoopin' from Jeff Hardy (Yay!) and Mark Henry got up and started beating Jeff (Booo!) but Matt and Jeff suplexed him and stood tall in the ring. As much as I love the Hardyz, that was a pretty damn suckish match and should've been a lot better. The match we saw wasn't even ECW  worthy, and that's sayin' somethin'! But even if it was on ECW, it would've been better than at the second biggest PPV in the WWE. It will probably last till No Mercy time.

    Winner via Disqualification: Matt Hardy

    Match Rating: NO STARS.

Then we had a very nice promo for CM Punk and JBL, which got you in the mood for the next match.

CM Punk vs JBL: World Heavyweight Championship Match

This was a very, very good match. JBL was surprisingly okay in this match, but Punk managed to get back up. He had a legit head injury (which my brother pointed out to me when they showed the replay) in which CM Punk had do a spinning kick to JBL, landed on the mat, JBL fell at the same time and the banged heads. CM Punk's head was busted open and he was indeed bleeding. They had to end the match early, and CM Punk picked up the win after the GTS. Does he ever use the Anoconda Vise anymore? I guess not. But CM Punk is still champion and said 'I will bleed for this!' after his win. I watched the WWE.com exclusive on his injury tonight, and it looks worse than I expected.

    Winner vis Pinfall: CM Punk

    Match Rating: ***1/2

The next match I wasn't looking forward to. I'm pretty sick of Triple H's title reign, as much as I love Triple H, as he's one of my all time favourites. But if it's against Khali, anyone will do.

Triple H vs The Great Khali: WWE Championship Match

The build up to this match wasn't very good, but it was an okay match with a few good moments. I was pretty bored by it, and talked to my brother about how terrible Khali is through most of it. But I will not be biased, in saying that he was carried okay in this match, but I've seen better (by better I mean, okay) matches from him. Khali tried the Vise Grip several times, but Triple H got out of it, and hit him with a very sloppy Pedigree. It had to be one of the worst ever, but I can't blame the guy, he's trying to Pedigree a 7'3, 430 pound freak. Not an easy task. Triple H scored the pin and retained his title.

    Winner via Pinfall: Triple H

    Match Rating: *1/4

Next we have the match of matches, the one we've all been waiting to see. It added some excitment to the card at least.

John Cena vs Batista: Grudge Match

I was really excited about this match, even though it wasn't hyped up long enough and they should've saved it for Wrestlemania. If I'm being honest, it should've been much longer. They were some good spots and moves, but I was expecting more anger and brawling from both of them, but whatever. I'm very annoyed Batista won, but that's just my opinion. The crowd seemed pretty mixed throughout the whole thing, but it was interesting. It could've been much better and more hyped though. But as one of the commentator dudes said, 'No Hype Needed.' And it's true. Arguably the two biggest stars in the WWE facing off for the first time. Of course it's gonna be good! I can't wait to see what happens on Raw.

    Winner via Pinfall: Batista

    Match Rating: ***3/4

Then we have the biggest and best hyped match of the entire night. Are....You....READY?!

Edge vs Undertaker: HELL IN A CELL!

Everyone's been waiting and wanting to see this throughout their long and annoying feud. But the time finally came. Edge came out looking prepared and focused, while Undertaker come out to a HUGE crowd reaction. He seemed very different in this match. Not as sinister, and more evil and powerful. Like he had the urge to kill. That was a great touch, and maybe it was because it was a Hell in a Cell. Anything goes. My brother and I were waiting for them to climb on the top and for Edge to get thrown off, but it didn't happen. Still, i think this match certainly lived up to the hype and was very, very good. It was awesome! Edge tried killing Taker, Taker literally killed Edge. I was expecting more blood, but what are you gonna do, eh? I recommend you watch this PPV, even if it's just for this match. One of the best of the year, and I'm very glad to see the Undertaker back, like a lot of people. The ending was freakin awesome, and Edge got sent straight to hell! They also showed the Familia backstage cheering for Taker, which was cool. Sadly for me, I'll be gone this weekend so i won't be watching Smackdown for the first time in months, but hey, they repeat it a lot over here lol.

    Winner via Pinfall: The Undertaker!

    Match Rating: ****3/4

A very good PPV, with a lot of good matches and it was very entertaining. Sad not see any funny backstage segments, with Simmons or Cryme Tyme, etc. It seemed like a serious PPV, if you understand, and maybe that would've made it more 'fun.' I recommend you watch the replay or buy the DVD when it comes out, and it was worth the money and the late night.

    Overall PPV Score: 8.5/10

Some would say I'm being too nice, or even too harsh, but that's for your review. I'll be watching Raw tonight, and we should see something with HBK and Y2J.

Oh I forgot to mention: Where was Kane?! There was no mention fo Rey Mysterio or anything. Raw has the answers!

    Thanks for reading folks!
