    Hacksaw Jim Duggan

    Location:
    Glens Falls, New York
    Body Type: Athletic
About Me: Nearly three decades have passed since the 2x4-lugging tough guy “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan first stepped into a ring. Since that time, the Superstar from Glens Falls, N.Y., has seen WWE evolve from a regional-based business into the global phenomenon it is today. He’s also seen hundreds of his colleagues come and go, but somehow, after all this time, Duggan still finds himself a part of the WWE roster.

Hacksaw considers himself a very fortunate man. That word relates to how lucky Duggan is after what he went through in the ‘90s while he was working with WCW. That’s when Duggan was diagnosed with kidney cancer.

Through early detection of the disease, and by the “grace of God and by the skills of the surgeon,” Duggan’s life – and career – was saved. And it wasn’t long before he began to ponder the next phase of his life, which included a return to the ring.

The powerful ex-football player was a regular in WWE rings throughout the 80's and early 90's, using his impressive physical stature to overpower opponents with his signature Three-Point Stance Clothesline. Hacksaw has always been a favorite of the WWE fans, carrying his trademark 2x4 and proudly waving the American flag for all to see. For more than two decades, fans have chanted along as Hacksaw bellows out the letters: U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!
    Favorite Show: RAW
Favorite Superstar: If you are not your own favorite in whatever you do, then you might want to take a look at your life. But, I have seen many Champions come and go and some thought they would never be replaced, and for every huge past star, there is a huge new one. After saying that, John Cina is a great wrestler, a gentleman backstage, a role model to many and a man of his word. A true Champion. But as buddies, I enjoy Cryme Tyme. We like to give each other a hard time.
Favorite Diva: Mickey James. She reminds me of me. The way she gets fired up before she heads out to the ring. The way she interacts with the crowed once she gets out there and when things get rough, she does what it takes to get things done. Nothing fancy dan just big rights and lefts. I love it. Also, Mickey and I have had a chance to do some stuff back stage on camara it was alot of fun and we got along well. Our families are friends and my kids loved her on Psych.
Favorite WWE Moment: At this stage of my carreer, my first match back with the WWE was with Edge on WWE Raw. Although I lost the match, I feel that I showed everyone that I was still a contender. I took all Edge had to give, his A game and gave back as good as I got. Many people thought that I was over the hill, but after that match many looked at me differently. I was not some old timer just hanging around. I was someone they might need to keep an eye on. But, the thing that will always stand out in my mind, was when I knocked out Andre The Giant on T V. Andre had challenged anyone in the dressing room to come down to the ring. I went down with my 2X4. As I stood in the ring looking up, my chin on Andre's chest, I told him that I was not afraid of him. Andre, then reached for my throat and as he did, his thumb hit me in the upper lip. It was a Giant thumb and almost took off my lip. Blood was pouring down my beard and all over my chest as he choaked me down to my knees, as the arena was spinning in my head, I remembered that I had dropped my board near by. I was able to reach down, grab the board, reach back and hit the Giant right between the eyes, TIMBER the legend went down for the first time ever. The Giant was knocked out. As we went off the air, there I was, standing in the middle of the ring, covered in a sheet of blood with my 2X4 high in the air, with a knocked out Andre The Giant at my feet. I gave the loudest HOOOOO!!!! of my life
Favorite Finishing Move: As anyone can see, there are a great deal of finishing moves. But, I think anyone who does not have a special spot in their heart for their own move, something is wrong and they won't last long at this level. As for mine, the running clothes line. It is a through back to my football days, with Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, for my college ball. Also from my time with the NFL Atlanta Falcons and CFL Toronto Argonauts. It was natural in the early years when I was trying to make the change from football to wrestling. There was so much to learn, so I used what I knew, a clothes line. Later as I learned more and more, I found that being in a three point stance gave me a lot more force moving forward and also, I was able to keep my head up so I could see what was going on. Another factor in using the three point clothes line, if you do happen to miss, it is not that hard to recover as a lot of moves that are all or nothing. And now, at this point in my career, why fix it if it is not broken? I just wish I had a chance to use it more. Now, if I had to pick one that I would not want to receive, I think it would be the Tombstone. It has worked for years and there is nothing like something being time tested. Plus, the Undertaker may be the best ever.
Favorite Superstar Quote: "Tough Guy!" I would say that after almost every interview. Many thought I was calling myself Tough Guy, but I was really talking about my opponent.
Favorite WWE Pay-Per-View: I have been lucky enough to have been a part of some great WWE Pay Per Views, Wrestlemania 3 at the Silver Dome in Detroit, Michigan, with over 93,000 people where I hit the ring with a flag taped to a 2X4 and cleared the ring of Nicoli Volcoff and the Iron Sheik. I had the whole place chanting USA! USA! Also, just this past year at Wrestlemania 24 where I was the first WWE Superstar to go to the ring for the Battle Royal. But, the Number One for me was the Survivor Series where I was the captain of team, the 4X4's.
Favorite Entrance Theme: Again, I like mine. The crowd knows who is coming out as soon as my music hits. There are no fireworks or smoke, which I like. That way, I can hear the people and they can hear me. HOOOOOOO!!!!! > Besides mine, I like Candace's. The music fits her so well and she knows how to make an entrance.
