    Ladder Matches, and Titles.

Thursday, July 24, 2008, 08:43 PM EST [General]

Well thanks to a good friend of mine, he lent me a copy of his 3-Disc set of the Ladder Match collection. It just came out last year and what not. What lies in that dvd set is the most epic ladder matches ever held in the business. I took note to see that there have been so many, and now they're rare as of late ever since after 2002 or so. And now this will lead me to a title. The Intercontinental Championship. This championship has been defended in a ladder match more than any other title the WWE has. And pretty much every ladder match that has had the IC title on the line have been at a huge epic scale of..well..epicness I guess. Predominately every match in the dvd collection has the Intercontinental Championship on the line and every last match have been taken to major heights. Now this leads me to another issue that I would so love to get off my chest. Sadly this won't change much. But here it goes:

The championships such as the United States Championship, Intercontinental Championship, the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, and the World Tag Team Championships have not had stellar matches as of late. What has happened here? There have been epic LADDER MATCHES with the Intercontinental Championship on the line, and now we rarely even have an Intercontinental Championship match period. And whenever someone's holding it, it's usually someone who is just a joke to or not even ready to hold a title yet. ( Please forgive me Kofi Kingston ) Same goes for the United States Championship. There have been rare title matches involving all of the following titles that I have just stated. The ECW World Heavyweight title has been defended moderately, but the matches, or the title holders, have been jokes. Nothing stellar about many of those matches. Now we have a couple of pompous spoiled brats holding the World Tag Team Championships, and there have been matches for those titles like..what..twice a year for some time now. I've had it. Why have these championships, holding so much prestige, and that have been held by top-class wrestlers in the past, being cut down to having a whole bunch of pompous heels, or newbies that aren't ready for a title, in possession of them? Why have all of these title matches SUCKED in the past few years? on average with the other titles, excluding the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, those titles have been defended rarely also, but more than the World Tag Team Championships. I've had it with these majorly prestigious titles being cutdown as rare occassion matches. Even the wrestlers that battle for them, I can even look at them and see that they themselves have become bored with defending, or trying to capture the titles. Why are they killing these titles?!

Proud to be a Great American? What a hypocrite.

Sunday, July 20, 2008, 11:20 PM EST [General]

Well it's just minutes after the Great American Bash came to an end tonight. I wasn't able to watch it or be there at the event itself but I was on the Live Blog tonight to get in on the live coverage of the event. My overall thoughts are pretty positive on the entire PPV and full of surprises that I never thought to expect. Two title matches in a row ending with both of them changing hands, and the crowning of the first ever Diva's champion. Plus Edge losing just like I knew he would. But not in the fashion I was hoping for but still good. So here's the review of every match this evening.

First off let's start with of course the Fatal Four Way match for the WWE Tag Titles. Despite that my pick for the night didn't win... I knew Miz and Morrison were outmatched by the numbers game and they lost the titles. Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder are now the new WWE Tag Team Champions. I'm hoping Jesse and Festus will gun for the titles again sometime soon. I am surprised that Hawkins and Ryder didn't have any interference on their behalf to win the tag titles so I have to commend them for winning fair and square tonight.

Next is our United States Championship match. I'm very disappointed. I have no love for Shelton Benjamin whatsoever. I respect him as an athlete but I don't like him. I used to but no more ever since 2006. His head is just getting bigger and I wish I had a needle to pop it. He won the United States Championship and in my eyes he isn't worthy to be a part of the huge list of true champions that have held it in the past. Matt Hardy was deserving and I hate that he lost.

Now we move on to our ECW title match. Third straight title match following the previous two. This was a shocker to me. It seemed Tommy was gonna have Mark on the ropes, but then Colin comes out to mess things up for the ECW Original. Why would he do that? He was Tommy's protige and he goes and does this? I can't understand it... Colin was such a great kid.. now thanks to him Mark is still champion. I'll be tuning in on Tuesday night to see what will transpire as the smoke clears from the Bash.

Next up comes HBK vs. Y2J. I had mixxed feelings for this match and didn't care for a winner, but then it really just came crashing down when Jericho made a relentless attack on Shawn's damaged eye which lead to a detached retina. And the decision was given to Jericho since HBK couldn't continue wrestling. I was shocked to see how Jericho just completely lost it, and made such a remorseless attack on Shawn like that. I hope the best for Shawn and that he recovers.

Our next match is of course to crown the first ever WWE Diva's champion. The belt to me is just a joke. I hate the look. And of course the one that prevailed is also a joke. I don't like Michelle. She's got an overinflated ego and I can't stand for it. I saw the post match interview and didn't appreciate the tone in her voice. Natalya is way more deserving to be Diva's champion more than anyone. On the Live Blog tonight someone stated that Michelle looked great with the belt. I have to agree. The belt matches with her alright, both the belt and Michelle are just a joke and I'm not getting the punchline nor do I want to. They need a more practical design. Shape it like the current version of the Women's championship but give it blue lettering. And Natalya better have a rematch soon. Michelle's win tonight was a fluke and it will always be one.

Next comes the World Heavyweight Championship match. I feared greatly for CM Punk to lose, but something unexpected but at the same time not really unexpected occurrs. Kane coming out and beating both of them to stop the match in a Double DQ. CM Punk gets a spinebuster from Batista, a chokeslam from Kane, then a Batista Bomb out of rage. CM Punk looked badly beaten but was able to stand and speak to Joey in the post match interview. I hope the best for CM Punk and hope he has a better night at SummerSlam. He stated he had the dream of main eventing this event and he will have it. I hope it turns out better there than it did tonight. Congratulations CM Punk.

Now we move on to the NYC Parking Lot Brawl. It was hell in a handbasket with those two in the parking lot. Beer Kegs, flesh on cars, gas cans. Burning cars! I fear the worst will happen for whoever owned the cars that were used as weapons tonight. Some might not be insured or something! They could've said "No owners here tonight will have their cars used for this match. All cars being used have been provided by Lease-A-Death Trap auto service!" or something. It would've been practical. As for the outcome, I hated it. JBL managed to beat Cena and I hate it. I'm boiling mad just thinking about it. And JBL dares to call himself a "Great American" he's a hypocritical muscle head and I'm sick and tired of him. Cena put him in his place more than six times and now after all of the complaining JBL managed to pull one out. As far as I'm concerned it was all a fluke and sadly I'll never hear the end of it from Just a Big Loser ( JBL ) now until Cena can outdo what happened tonight to finally put Bradshaw in his place so he can shut the f**k UP!

Finally our main event. Triple H vs. Edge for the WWE Championship. As I said the outcome was how I said it would be. Though I was hoping The Undertaker would've come out or something but at least the result of the match was still the same.  The "Family" would attack Edge and he would lose. I was surprised the wedding planner came out and tried to interfere on Edge's behalf. But then Vickie started a catfight with her. HA! That ended well. Then when Edge attempted for a spear he speared Vickie by accident. Wow this just gets better and better. Finally later on after that mayhem, Edge went for another spear on Triple H and The Game countered into a spinebuster and at the end a Pedigree for the win. Edge had no chance tonight nor will he ever as long as "La Familia" is breathing down his neck. Alicia won't have enough power to back Edge up with this war brewing now. Congratulations to all who I've been pulling for and the picks of mine who didn't win, congratulations for the effort.  It's been a roller coaster ride tonight!

    Week in review. 7/14-7/18

Saturday, July 19, 2008, 03:10 PM EST [General]

Let's kick this review for this past week off with Raw. I must say John Cena and JBL have more bad blood than when they first started butting heads at WrestleMania 21 three years ago. JBL even tried to mow Cena down this past Monday! Geez what a sick perverse S.O.B. as J.R. would say.  Luckily Cena got out of it. It's going to escalate come The Great American Bash when they collide in the arena's parking lot.

Next we got Jericho and Shawn now really going at it. This newly remade rivalry is intense if not more intense than when they first collided at WrestleMania 19 in 2003. It's more personal than it's ever been if not way more or so. It'll be interesting to see the outcome of their match tomorrow.

Lastly I fear for CM Punk. I texted my vote for him ( I'm sorry Punk nothing against you. ) That he'd be in most jeapordy for his title, due to a mismatch in size. But I have seen CM Punk take out some serious competition before. Though I think Batista is going to become a heel now after what I saw this past Monday. But the Animal's rage may get the best of himself which could lead to CM Punk keeping the title. But I hope the real outcome turns out that Punk can get the cover on him so people will know he's not really a fluke to have the World Heavyweight Championship around his waist.  So best wishes to Punk out there tomorrow night.

Now let's move on to ECW. Tony Atlas showcasing Mark Henry's strength this past Tuesday....with..cookware. Yeah, very original. I'm aware of this man's strength, of course I'm aware he's strong enough to crumple up a frying pan like it was just a piece of paper. BIG. DEAL. Then the ECW original wants to have a go at it. Sadly his first attempt failed, but his second...well let's explain this in an equation style. Frying Pan + Mark Henry's skull = perfectly bent pan. So Tommy prevailed in bending  the pan as well. And wow did that hit echo throughout the arena or what?! WOW! I'm definately pulling for Tommy Dreamer to regain the ECW title so it can reclaim it's place around the waist of a true ECW wrestler this Sunday.

Next the Hardyz met for one night only to face the WWE Tag Team Champions Morrison and The Miz. Successful victory for the high flyers from North Carolina. Good job boys! Speaking of the Tag champs. Epic fatal four way tag match for the titles this Sunday? I'm damn sure looking forward to it. Morrison and Miz face the Father/Son brawling Irish Finlay and Hornswoggle. The tag team of "La Familia" Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder, and of course we have my pick for this match: Jesse and Festus. Go Biscuits and Gravy! I'm a man baby yeah!

And now we move on to Smackdown last night. I know someone who went to the taping this week so I wanted to ask for a little tidbit of how it went. All she did was give me a thumbs up and that really made me want to look forward to the showing last night. And was she right! Though what I didn't approve of was how Vickie and Edge, after that..bleh..wedding reception they watched as they set up a trap for the Big Show with that 4 on 1 handicap match. I didn't like it at all. I hope the big man's settling okay. Speaking of the wedding I intentionally missed the entire thing so I wouldn't have to waste my dinner. Boy did I enjoy it and I didn't want to have to lose it from watching that UNholy matramony.

I'm loving Kennedy's new attitude now. Becoming a face and all. After what happened the previous week, he manned up and took on Umaga. He didnt' win, but gave the Samoan Bulldozer a run for his money and I very much enjoyed it. Kudos to the Mic holder from Green Bay, Wisconsin!

Going back to my pick for tomorrow night to win the WWE Tag Championship Fatal Four Way. They faced the champs last night and I didn't much care for the outcome.  Miz and Morrison have a little momentum but not enough to overcome the other two tag teams they have to worry about. My second pick was of course Brawling Irish father and son. I love those two.

Lastly our main event. Yet another thing I didn't quite care for. But they've faced each other in the past against their will. On the way to the ring they delivered the wedding cake to the newly wedded couple personally. This of course offended La Familia and the new husband and wife. Which caused an early end to the match when Edge speared Matt Hardy. But this did indeed come with a happy ending, hence why I'm so excited about last night's events. The King of Kings would emerge past that curtain and stand at the stage while La Familia celebrated in the ring. He had something very tentalizing to show the new married couple, especially to the blushing bride Vickie. Heh. Heh. I knew Edge wasn't really in love with Vickie. He just wanted a push so he could get any title in existance. Because this tidbit of awesomeness that Triple H had dug up would make Edge's chance PLUMMET. He was going behind Vickie's back with the Wedding Planner! HA! It was on tape and everything! So the wedding is ruined, the couple's breaking apart, and Edge has no chance come Sunday. He's on his own, and he will -NEVER- win another title. Speaking of which, I much enjoyed Edge being in that Slim Jim commercial. I like his spicy side. Lol. Well that's it for this blog! I can't wait for tomorrow night!

Meet me in the Parking Lot!

Tuesday, July 15, 2008, 07:48 PM EST [General]

Well John Cena barely got out of that one. JBL is hell bent on finally trying to put Cena away. As far as the score card between these two and their long time bad blood with each other is concerned, Cena will once again prevail at the Great American Bash. I'm looking forward to their confrontation in the NYC parking lot. As Cena said: "Flesh will be torn on the windshield glass! Skulls will be bashed in the hoods of every car!" I don't think that was very accurate but that'll be the gist of that match. And Cena will mop the entire parking lot with JBL's face! HAHA!

The beginning of Raw was pretty..well.. RAW I guess. Sorry for the pun. Shawn Michaels gunning for Y2J right as Raw went on the air. And then Jericho giving an unecessary beating to Paul London and threatening him to join his side. Geez louise he's taking it too far! I mean I'm not biased between these two men as far as their rekindled rivalry is concerned. I understand where Jericho is going, pointing out a few things and taking note of stuff but now he's just taking it too far by becoming a heel again.

Last night there was a poll concerning the three big titles that will be decided at the Great American Bash this sunday. We had to choose between the three men in who we thought was in the most jeopardy of losing their title. Before I give my vote, let's put out the statistics. Mark Henry is as he says he is. STRONG. Tommy Dreamer may be an ECW original, but with a man like Mark Henry I don't know if his experience can come into play against a giant like him. Now Triple H, he's been in the business for a long time, and a 12 time World Champion. Despite what Edge and his reoconciled actions towards Vickie Guerrero and their ensuing plans might be thrown, I'm sure The Game can overcome whatever they throw at him. CM Punk has a good head on his shoulders. A great athlete, and a true heart of a champion after only being in the business for almost two years to the date, or more. I lost count. He's already a former ECW champion. Which is a nice notch in his belt I must say. Now here is who I voted for. Obviously it's CM Punk because one thing is the size difference. Plus Batista is an incredible wrestler and his arsenal of moves could even take out Umaga. CM Punk's going to be in serious trouble. Plus the fact that I believe Batista is turning heel against CM Punk. I mean last week Batista congradulated the man, now he only saved CM Punk last night because he wanted him to be in top shape in order to keep the title intact as well. Plus they had a little scuffle in the ring after CM Punk had faced Kane.  I texted my vote to be Punk in most jeopardy this Sunday at the Great American Bash.

    Topsy Turvey week.

Friday, July 11, 2008, 10:21 PM EST [General]

I..well.. Raw was fine this week. What with more matches being added to the Great American Bash and all. ECW was interesting. But as for what happened tonight.. I'm..speechless. I was hoping for Vickie to enjoy punishing Edge tonight when he and the Big Show were duking it out. I was enjoying it. Then..Vickie stopped the match. Guess she still loves that f***ing loser... *SIGH* But is he going to rely on her to "HELP" him win the WWE Title come the Bash? He wanted to go out on his own and go for it but now that their feelings are rekindled..he may get her to screw Triple H out of the title when the Bash comes around. Great.. When Smackdown went off the air I just went speechless and sat on my bed for a good ten minutes... Then just walked off. Believe me I'm upset indeed. But then again there could be a possibility that Vickie's just setting Edge up. Hopefully which would open up the door for The Undertaker's return. If that won't happen then I'm hoping Undertaker returns to Raw seeing as Kane was throwing a fit this past Monday. But then there's also the possibility that Kane's speaking about Paul Bearer. So I'm not sure what's gonna happen. If things go by what I think's going to transpire... Triple H is screwed. This is bad...
