Well it was announced this past monday there would be a championship scramble for the World Heavyweight Championship at Unforgiven involving Batista, JBL, Kane, Cena, and the champ himself, CM Punk. It'll be for 20 minutes time and in the same format as that Hardcore title scramble back at WrestleMania 2000 or 16. Best Adamle Original yet in my opinion. I wish the best of luck to CM Punk, Cena, and Batista only. JBL and Kane better not be walking out with that belt. And I caught wind of a WWE Title Scramble as well for Smackdown! at Unforgiven. Only one I know who'll be in it with Triple H so far is Jeff Hardy. Now I'm also hoping for an ECW World Heavyweight Championship scramble as well. If they do this for all three brands, then this by far will be the best Unforgiven I've seen in years. ( Last one being in 2006 ) Here's who I'd like to see in the ECW scramble: Evan Bourne, Matt Hardy, Finlay, and John Morrison. I hope those four face Mark Henry in the title scramble if push does come to shove for ECW.
Championship Scramble for all three brands at Unforgiven?
SummerSlam review.
Well it's just minutes after a groundbreaking SummerSlam, folks! ( Pun very well intended. Wanna know why? You'll see. ) A pretty intresting 21st annual summer Party known as SummerSlam has come and gone and I enjoyed the HELL out of it. ( So to speak. I was in the live blog. Couldn't watch it but it was just as good! Hehe. ) Let's get this review underway!
The spectacular night kicked off with MVP facing Jeff Hardy. Now I knew who the winner would be. It was going to be a Judgment Day repeat... But Shelton Benjamin who is unfortunately our current U.S. Champ, meddled in the match and took Jeff out. See I knew MVP couldn't beat Jeff without help. He can't beat anyone without help these days and this fool can run his mouth all he wants but he'll never know how to truly put his money where his mouth is. I'm tired of this guy. Seriously, I've had it with this pompous rich jack@$$. He'll get what's coming to him one day. I'm hoping for it.
Now we move on to an Adamle Original set by our new GM Mike Adamle a few weeks ago. It was to be an inter-gender tag team match between Beth Phoenix with Santino against our IC Champ Kofi Kingston, and Women's Champ Mickie James. It was a winner take all match. And whichever team won, would have the IC title and Women's title. During the match it seemed Beth and Santino were having a bit of a quarrel against one another ( I thought they were an item? WTF? ) But somehow they still came out on top and took the titles in the winner take all confrontation. I know Mickie for sure will win the women's title back. She beat Beth before so I got no doubts on Mickie!
Next was a pretty grave announcement by HBK. He walked to the ring with his wife Rebecca and spoke of his injury. It sadly said by his doctor, would make him walk away from the ring. Forever? Or for a while, I'm not sure... It's saddening. But next Chris Jericho entered the ring, not satisfied by the announcement. Or at least the way it was delivered... He wanted Shawn to confess that it was he, Chris Jericho, that retired HBK. Shawn said as such, but in his own words that angered Chris, who was about to strike Shawn, but it inadvertently struck his wife Rebecca instead. Now with such an act as this, would possibly spark HBK's return to finally put Jericho away? I'm very sure.
Moving on was now time for the ECW World Heavyweight Title bout between Matt Hardy the Challenger and the "World's Strongest Champion", our current ECW World Heavyweight Champion, Mark Henry. An interesting bout, which sadly seemed like a huge mismatch. Though it was about to tip into Matt's favor, and finally managed to hit the Twist of Fate on Mark! Matt had this match! He had the title! But Tony interfered which resulted in a DQ. This is complete and utter BULL! Tony you'll pay for this! Matt won, but didn't win the belt. So Jeff came out for an assist to take out the two men trying to double gang Matt. Maybe next time Matt, which I hope is soon. ( UPDATE: WWE.com exclusive - Rematch for the ECW World Heavyweight Title has been set for this Tuesday night! YEAH! Go get 'im Matt! )
Now let's move on to CM Punk facing the critic JBL for the World Heavyweight Championship. Finally in months of suspense, speculation, all critics that doubted CM Punk will be silenced, just as Punk silenced JBL to make his first successful, interference free title defense. It's about time. I had no doubts for this man, CM Punk. Hopefully now Bradshaw won't run his mouth when he shouldn't. CM Punk proved he can finally be called without a doubt, a World Champion. My hat goes off to you, Punk. You've had my respect since you started in this business, and now I honor you to the utmost degree, my friend. I have to tell ya, me and Punk have things in common. We don't smoke, drink, or do any drugs of any kind, and we like tattoos! Only difference is I...sadly have no ink on me yet, but soon. And the first thing I get will be in honor of CM Punk? "Straightedge" tattooed on my right arm along from my shoulder down. My first tat is for you, Punk! You're awesome!
Now it's Cena and Batista in a match. Two titans that faced off for the first time EVER and it was nothing short of ...please forgive me, J.R. you copyrighted this, a SLOBBERKNOCKER. The Animal managed to lay Cena out and become victorious tonight so I tip my hat to him. I had no pick in this match, I love both of these guys. So I extend a congrats to both men for a valient fight.
Now we move on to what was a very anticipated match-up. Khali vs. HHH for the WWE Championship. Khali backed The King of Kings into a corner a couple of weeks ago after that arm wrestling thing. I was afraid Khali might actually win it tonight. But hey since Cena beat Khali before last year ( TWICE ) which was for the WWE Championship, I knew the King of Kings, our WWE Champion, HHH would come out on top as well. And indeed he did. The Giant has been slayed yet again in a major title confrontation! Way to go HHH! The Game is still on baby!!!
Now... we may focus on the most highly anticipated match of the evening.. want to know why I said "Groundbreaking" at the beginning of my blog? Well here it is, fans! The Hell in a Cell match! Edge vs. the returning DEADMAN! The Phenom! THE UNDERTAKER! The past few weeks leading into this match, a sadistic Edge was unleashed onto the Smackdown! kingdom. One that hasn't been seen for two years since the Hardcore match at WrestleMania 22 against Mick Foley. After the roof of the Fieldhouse almost imploded from the roars of the crowd at Undertaker entering the arena, the match was underway. Punches and slams, into stairs, tables. CAMERAS. Even the Cell was broken through and the two men brawled outside! Edge gave the Deadman a run for his money and speared Undertaker into steel steps, slammed a camera over him just like back at Survivor Series last year and at Wrestlemania 24! Announce tables crumbled, regular tables imploded! Edge almost had it! But to no avail... so close yet so far I'm afraid but Edge brought the Deadman to his limit and for that Edge, you have brought Undertaker to the limit more than any other man I've seen face The Undertaker. I tip my hat to you, Edge.. You have my respect for giving Undertaker a true challenge, one of the biggest, and of course THE BIGGEST to date since Taker's career. You've given a valient effort. But your trip to Hell was inevitable. After a Tombstone onto the steps, the 3 count was made, and Undertaker would proceed to leave the arena...or was he? OH NO. HE WASN"T DONE. The Deadman demanded vengence for last year, for being screwed out of the World Title on seperate occasions last year, and this year when the belt was vacated then supposedly banished in that TLC match at One Night Stand. Oh no, The Phenom proceeded to stack up two ladders with Edge on one, and Undertaker climbing another. With Edge in the grasp of the Deadman, he yelled "GO TO HELL!!!" and chokeslammed Edge through the ring canvas, I mean the canvas imploded from the height of the slam, then the fires of hell would whisk Edge away..... And that was the end of one of the biggest SummerSlams in the history of the event itself. And this concludes my blog for SummerSlam 2008. Goodnight everyone!
Week in Review 8/4 through 8/8 ( Includes insider on the Olympiad Opening Ceremony! )
Well here's more thoughts from behind the black-framed glasses ( Sorry J.R. I couldn't resist. I apologize. ) It's been a pretty exciting week this week past. More matches for Summerslam have been set, the Olympics Opening ceremony, and Edge losing his noodle. ( No surprise there. ) Anyway let's kick this week in review off shall we? I plan on giving a look in on the Olympics. Hope my fellow WWE Fans don't mind eh?
First off is RAW. Our new GM for the flagshow of WWE, Mike Adamle, has been burning the midnight oil like nobody's business and I say kudos to that. Especially these matches he's been setting up. On RAW and for SummerSlam!
Earlier in the night he had set a unique "Winner take all" Tag Team match for SummerSlam. Beth Phoenix and possibly her new love interest, Santino Marrella ( Blech. Such horrible taste, Beth! ) against the Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston BOOM BOOM! and the Women's Champion Mickie James. The winning team leaves Indianapolis with both the IC and Women's titles. A very interesting match and I must say: Kofi, Mickie, be ready. Don't let those two win.
Now we bring our concerns to our World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk. This night was the night of one of many future "Adamle Originals." First there was some controversy between Chris Jericho and Bradshaw. Both verbally abusing each other saying who's more deserving for a title shot. So GM Adamle solved this with a match. A "Handicap match" against CM Punk. Whoever would score the pin, would get the title shot. Seriously why not just make this a Triple Threat? That was just insane. And just when the match was about to start, an additional stip was added. They were timed for 10 minutes. TEN MINUTES. And the outcome wasn't really what I expected. Both Jericho and Bradshaw were arguing and fighting each other for the pin. I was thinking theyd'd run out of time and if both men didn't get the pinfall, there would be no title match period. But thanks to Jericho from some inadvertent shove, got JBL the pin and the title shot when there was only four seconds left! ..CM Punk, please be careful. I'm pulling for you. JBL is a relentless human being and he's more of a fighter than a wrestler. Stay away from his arms!
And of course the main event tonight was...very unusual. SummerSlam opponents Batista and John Cena were put in a match for the World Tag Team Championships. They didn't really look like they'd work too well together but miraculously won the tag titles. One moment that caught my eye in the match was when Cena "Tagged" Batista via palm + face, and that was the deciding factor which made the belts change hands. This will indeed be the third time in history where Tag Champions are opponents in a high stakes match-up.
Now we move on to the Land of Extreme which roams the WWE on Tuesday nights! The night was going to be the first ever LIVE televised edition of Miz and Morrison's Dirt Sheet. How interesting it was. Some "interviews" were set up for the show with Summerslam opponents The World Strongest Champion Mark Henry and the #1 Contender Matt Hardy. After which the "real deal" came to the ring and tore the house down. Or should I say the Dirt Sheet down. For that instant both opponents were on the same page and took both of those men down. Good job you two. Now focus on each other and save the fight for SummerSlam.
Next we move on to Smackdown. An interesting Friday Night indeed. The night kicked off with a six diva tag team match and it was in honor of the Olympics opening ceremony tonight. ( I was having a rough time toggling between Smackdown and the Ceremony. Heh-heh... ) Early in the night, La Familia would find the precious body guard, Bam Neely laid out near a fork lift backstage. ...And a black rose was left there. Chavo, Vickie, and the WWE Tag Champions investigated the matter. We pretty much know who was involved with this matter...or do we? Nonetheless more was in store for the night.
A Broken Glass arm wrestling contest was set for the night between The King of Kings, The Game, Triple H. OUR WWE CHAMPION!!! Against his opponent at Summerslam, the #1 contender, The Great Khali. After a little promising to one another about the outcome of the title match, the contest was underway. A VERY surprising one I might add. Triple H had Khali on the edge before Khali was just showing his sore loser side by laying The Game out. Such wrecklass actions. Khali has no sportsmanship whatsoever and I have no doubt he'll get what's coming to him in Indianapolis August 17th.
Next we find more of La Familia laid out, and more Black Roses left near the victims. Chavo and Vickie are at a loss and must seek the help of Vickie's husband Edge, despite the utmost dismay she was in about the idea. Closing off the night, the remainder of the family entered the ring, with Edge leading the march. Chavo and Edge were armed and ready with steel chairs and Edge of course calling out the Deadman....But there was a sudden change in plans. Just as Chavo would be eyeing the tron, Edge would strike him down with his chair! Waaaiiiit a minute. So this means Edge has been taking out La Familia. After a con-CHAIR-to to Chavo, he would proclaim to his wife Vickie that at Summerslam, he will be taking her and La Familia down to hell with him once he enters the cell with the Undertaker. Seriously this is the Edge that needs to be in tha tcell so he'll have a fighting chance. I have no doubt that the Deadman's going to have a serious fight on his hands with the utmost caliber. I still pull for The Undertaker of course.
Lastly I close with a little insider on the Opening Ceremony for the 29th Olympiad. It was a spectacular show made by our hosting country for this event, China. Very very awe inspiring inside the nest stadium. I've encountered alot of jaw dropping moments during the opening ceremony performances, and the lights, with pyros, the effects. All just...what else can I say? It was a blast to say the least and I'm looking forward to USA taking home some gold!
Week in Review 7/28 - 8/2 ( Yes including SNME )
Well another week come and gone as always. It's how time flows. Well this review will include Saturday Night's Main Event. ( Hence why I waited until now to write this. ) So here we go with another weekly review. Starting with Raw.
Well, yes. Rumors and speculation about Shane McMahon coming to Raw this past Monday were indeed true. Of course, of course. And indeed he did. During a little talk between Cena and Batista, quarraling about getting a title shot at Summerslam ( No surprise there. ) Then behold ( Money Talks ) Shane O' Mac enters. He states that the new GM is indeed present that night and his first order of business was to set a match later on in the evening. Cena and Batista were of course going to tag team and they weren't very happy. Facing Kane and JBL. Well of course after the entire thing. Shane would then enter the ring once the dust had settled and announced the new GM of Raw.
Drum roll please.. MIKE ADAMLE! Of course in my personal opinion I thought it was going to be the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase. That's not right I mean. The only match that was altered was the World Tag Team Championship match. Putting Michael Cole in place of Hacksaw in the match along with Jerry was definitely in the champions' favors. So I was thinking it was Ted SR. But Mike Adamle? That's just anticlimactic. And as Mike somehow just teleported into the ring all speedy like, he announces a match for Summerslam. First match involving RAW for the event. John Cena vs. Batista ( As expected. ) So looking forward to that match.
Now we move on to the Land of Extreme Live on Tuesday Nights. Colin Delaney still trying to prove himself to our World's Strongest Champion, would have to face Matt Hardy in the main event that evening. And strangely so, Mark Henry and Tony Atlas promised to be in his corner tonight unlike last week. Well despite all of that, Matt Hardy prevailed in the match. He is indeed sending a message to the ECW World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry about his I WILL NOT DIE attitude. Could we crown a new champion? I hope so.
Next to last is of course Friday Night Smackdown. More on talking about our WWE Champion facing The Great Khali for the title at Summerslam. I'm really looking forward to this match. I'm sure The Game, The King of Kings can topple this giant for sure. Look if Cena can so can HHH. I have no doubt in my mind that Triple H will once again come out on top. Give him any challenge, and he'll take it, then eat it for breakfast.
Now we jump on to the end of the night. Edge had a guest for his little talk show "The Cutting Edge". Someone who he thought would help him through his Hell in a Cell match with The Undertaker at Summerslam. Somone who knew the Undertaker more than anyone. Someone who has also had an encounter with the Deadman inside Satan's structure. Who was that indeed? Mick Foley of course! And as they spoke in the ring, Mick finally give him a very VERY good pep talk. Saying that if he brings that little wuss cry baby Edge to Summerslam, Undertaker would tear him apart. Edge would have to unleash that side of him that took over at WrestleMania 22 when he faced The Hardcore Legend in that Hardcore match. That was the side of Edge that would have a better chance of surviving Hell in a Cell ( Personally for once, I'd have to agree. ) If Edge wants the slightest chance of coming out of this match in one piece, the Hardcore Edge that Mick Foley saw two years ago will have to go inside that Cell. Not the wuss Edge. I have some respect for Edge now that he'll be on his own. And he'll have to unleash the Hardcore side of him to have any chance of surviving. Edge left a mark two years ago at WrestleMania and now he'll have to do it again for the Undertaker. Win or Lose, I have no doubt this man will leave his mark. ( I still want Undertaker to rip him to shreds though! )
And last but not least, a little look at our first Saturday Night's Main Event of the year. This being on the occasion of Generation Rescue. The fight against Autism. A good cause. But keep the wrestling puns out of it. Seriously that was just lame. The night would kick off with a massive eight man tag match. JBL, the World Tag Team Champions, and Kane in one corner. While John Cena, Batista, and Cryme Tyme were in another. A massive eight man match but sadly it ended with a Clothesline from Hell by JBL on ..Shad..or JTG.. Grr.. I forget. But JBL's team won the match. During said match, CM Punk our World Champion observed the action along with J.R. and The King. ( They got to team up for the night! WOO! ) Next up we had the #1 Contender Great Khali in action tonight which of course he came out the victor. This being he was sending a message to Triple H that he better be ready for SummerSlam.
And to finally cap it all off, Jeff Hardy faced Edge in a very stellar match up. Both had dominating points in the match. Edge finally found a kink in Jeff's armor but it seemed like Jeff was still getting the upper hand. Though if it weren't for MVP and that kick to Jeff's head while he was down, I'm sure maybe that man would've won the match. The match overall was very physical, resiliant to the utmost degree. I have to say I enjoyed it despite the outcome. Jeff Hardy put up a hellacious fight and I commend him to the fullest. One day soon I'm hoping this year he'll get a shot at the WWE Title and someday win it. ( No offense Triple H. Jeff needs a push! ) A very stellar match. A short night however, but alright. I somewhat enjoyed it. Anyway that just about sums up this week. Very much looking forward to SummerSlam in a couple of weeks. Until next weekend everyone.
Week in review: 7/21-7/25
A pretty interesting week kicking off on Monday Night Raw, then going on to ECW, and finally ending in a spectacular Friday Night Smackdown if I do say so myself. So it's the weekend and it's time for my weekly review blog.
First we kick it off with Raw. Just as the smoke from The Great American Bash cleared, we began with Batista entering the ring and wanting to declare law for the night. His first, and well, only matter of business was to set a rematch with CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship. Then CM Punk would enter into the ring, and on the Tron JBL would speak with his always five yard wide Texas mouth, wanting permanent Marshall Law around the WWE. Finally our World's Champion did the right thing and cut the audio from the Tron so all what was left to be seen was Bradshaw's ugly mug.
Later on in the night, a six man tag match was made as a rematch from last Monday. Cena and Cryme Tyme against JBL with the World Tag Team Champions Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes. A pin victory was finally claimed with CTC and Cena on the winning end. I highly applauded that.
Finally the main event. The World Title rematch. Sadly yet again, CM Punk's chances of defending it fair and square were once again thwarted. JBL rushing to the ring, along with Cena coming in to attack JBL. It was a mixed confrontation with Batista going after JBL, etc. Then Cena accidently striking The Animal. Finally they began to toss a few punches against each other. As Mick Foley stated on Smackdown, it could make an interesting match-up. IF it's indeed made by then. May we see a match like this? I'm not sure...
Now we move on to ECW. The crowning of a new version of the ECW World Heavyweight Championship. I'll say as I did that night once more. "WHAT THE F**K IS THE WWE THINKING?!" They've desecrated this prestigious title to give it an ugly as Snitsky's teeth look and dare to continue calling it the "ECW Title"?! It's a mockery to ECW and it's fans everywhere! This is the last straw! What the true ECW fans know as ECW is no more. It's just another brand.. It's not ECW whatsoever. This horrendous new version of the ECW WOrld Heavyweight Championship makes me sick! ...But anyway, speaking of the title, a fatal four way was held as the main event this past Tuesday to declare a new #1 contender for the belt at SummerSlam. Matt Hardy became victorious. Sadly it wouldn't matter who won. Mark Henry will just mow them down I'm afraid. I don't know what else to say. Also speaking of Henry. Colin made a grave mistake at the Bash and earlier on Tuesday night he paid for it after losing to his former teacher Tommy Dreamer. Good for you Tommy.
And now for the finale of this week. Smackdown. During the entire night the fans ( which includes me obviously ) awaited the General Manager's arrival to see Edge. As we've been saying all week "Hell hath no fury for a woman scorned." Let's start at the beginning for now. Another edition of the VIP lounge was held, and the special guest was Jeff Hardy. After exchanging a few words, which included MVP digging up Jeff Hardy's past, lead to a nice cheap shot on MVP's part and pushing him out of the ring. These two were going to be involved in a battle royal which would determine a #1 contender for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. The contenders were Mr. Kennedy, MVP, Jeff Hardy, Big Show, The Great Khali, and Umaga. A pretty physical match with it ending as Great Khali last eliminated Jeff Hardy. Afterwards The King of Kings, and our WWE Champion, Triple H, would come out to the ring and stare dow-- I should say stare UP his challenger. With not an ounce of fear in The Game's eyes, he glared at his SummerSlam opponent and now it is on. Khali. Triple H. SUMMERSLAM FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP!
Finally the moment everyone has waited for. Edge awaited his "beloved" wife Vickie Guerrero to enter the ring so he could apologize. Apparently it seemed his "apology" was about to tip in Edge's favor. But just as he was about to proceed to a "forgive me, kiss" Vickie would hinder this with a simple turn of the head. Next she would explain how she had done something out of her anger to Edge, and he nervously asked her what it was. "I reinstated...The Undertaker." And Wachovia center nearly had it's roof blown off by the ovation. Edge believed it was just a bit of business, and started laying out a prehensive plan to pick the bones off of Undertaker and Triple H to regain the WWE Championship. Next Vickie retorted saying she already booked a match for The Deadman at Summerslam, and Edge with such false innocence in his voice would ask her WHO indeed was facing him. Then with the deepest stare of death in her eyes, she simply uttered "YOU" And Edge nearly...Heh, I thought he was about to cry! Even more so when she continued "HELL IN A CELL" And with a cackle that made me shiver... Like a WITCH, Edge remained their kneeled as he took the ringing of that witch like cackle. Indeed Hell hath no fury for a woman scorned. Edge has loads of hell to pay with the months of fury and rage, and vengeance building within the Phenom after his absence. The Devil's Playground, which in The Undertaker's case "HOME" awaits Edge to enter, then never....leave...
Well Summerslam is indeed going to be a Blockbuster this year and I look forward to it!
