Just minutes off from the finale of yet another groundbreaking, historic WrestleMania. The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania no less! History making moments as promised just like WrestleManias past. I was a part of the Live Chat tonight keeping up with the play by play made by Corey and any other superstars/WWE staff that stopped by to chat with me along with the rest of the Universe! WHAT A NIGHT! GRADE A PERFORMANCES AS ALWAYS! Just as AC/DC's song proclaims the WWE has rushed into Texas and they SHOT TO THRILL!
Too bad the Undisputed Tag Team Match was rescheduled as a Pre-WrestleMania match. However the entire thing was a showstealer nonetheless! The best tag teams holding the belts pulled out all the stops, hungry to become the undisputed tag team champions of World Wrestling Entertainment. And as I was hoping, my boys, The Colons, have roared into Houston and are now splashing out as the Undisputed Tag Team Champions. NOW DAS' COOL! And to use their own words against Miz and Morrison. BE JEALOUS!
A perfect way to kick off the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania is none other than the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Five star performance by every competitor participating. But ended in an unexpected, yet very groundbreaking way. CM Punk, last year's winner has gone on tonight to win it for the second time in a row! WHAT A MOMENT RIGHT?! I couldn't be happier for this guy! Now he maybe cashing in to face the World Heavyweight Champion again! He did it last year and could do it again! As he said in the post-match interview "Stay tuned to Raw!"
Next up came the 25 Diva Battle Royal! With the 25 Current divas competing, there were also some surprise appearences! and.. as in the past weeks with Santino proclaiming that he should have the right to be in the match.. came in disguised... ( Not very well ), and managed to win this. Seeing those pictures of him.. oy vey.. I wish I didn't eat at ALL today. I should've held off food all day but too late now. I feel nauseated from seeing the pictures of him in that getup. If I remember correctly from three years ago at WrestleMania, Mickie vs. Trish for the Women's Championship. J.R. said this about Mickie which I will now reiterate for.. "Santina" "I GOT ONE WORD FOR YA SANTINA! 'LITHIUM!' DR. PHIL IS LOOKING FOR YOUR NUMBER!" Take my advice, take some Lithium and get some help, Santino. You've got problems.
Following up next, Jericho vs. Legends! ( Roddy Piper, Ricky Steamboat, and Jimmy "SUPERFLY" Snuka! ) 3 on 1 handicap match in an elimination format. It's hard to believe how Jericho managed to pull this off. Steamboat was the last one to be eliminated but he pulled out his vintage style of battle techniques on Jericho yet still lost. However Ric and Rourke got the last laugh on behalf of the legends after Ric duked it out with Chris, finally finishing up with one hard left hook from Mickey himself. Great job you guys! As far as I'm concerned, the legends still prevailed tonight.
Next, Extreme Rules between the Hardy Siblings. A storybook rivalry that culminated into tonight. A very hardcore match which left me in awe. Despite the outcome of the match, it's all been left in the ring where it belongs. Scars, blood, battered remains of the weapons used. ( EVEN A VACUUM?! Can somone say Wal-Mart Brawl? ) The major turning point in the match to me would have to be Matt sandwiched between two tables before Jeff dived down on top of the first table, crushing Matt between them! WHAT A MOMENT! Plus a RINGING on Matt's doorbell. Trash can over the head with a nice well placed smack from Jeff and a crutch! That was hilarious! The overall match was indeed Extreme. And I doubt Matt and Jeff are through. Familiar with Backlash I'm sure, everyone? Oh it's FAR from over. I see a match at Backlash for these two.
And as JBL, promised for his history making moment. It happened alright! But not in his favor. Just 21 seconds.... 21 seconds and like that, his IC title is no longer his. Rey Mysterio, Joker clad tonight in Houston, pinned the Native Longhorn and claimed his first taste in Intercontinental gold! I'm so proud of the high flyer! And as for MORE history form JBL! HE QUIT! RIGHT OVER THE MIC HE YELLED THE TWO WORDS I WAS HOPING FOR! "I QUIT!" What a happy day! In his Post-Match interview, Mysterio only had two more items on his "to-do list": Change that plate on the belt to his name, and PARTY! PARTY HARDY 619 IN HOUSTON! BOOYAKA BOOYAKA!
And in what would be proclaimed as the "Show stealer" match for the night, it was indeed lived up to the hype as it culminated over the many weeks up to tonight. HBK, Shawn Michaels. "MR. WRESTLEMANIA" vs. the Undefeated Streak of The Deadman, Undertaker. Two Texas homestate icons. Very intense was this match. Fists flying, Sweet Chin Music being dealt. The major moment in this match would be that as soon as that kick was dealt, UNDERTAKER KICKED OUT OF IT! You don't need your eyes checked for those who are reading this. Undertaker. Kicked. Out. Of. SWEET CHIN MUSIC. But just as he did this, a major Tombstone piledriver was delievered to HBK, but he kicked out of it too! But at the finale of this wonderful match, just as Shawn went in with a moonsault, it was caught, yes, CAUGHT, ladies and gentlemen, but Undertaker and formed into one last Tombstone which resulted in the undefeated streak remaining intact. He is now 17-0 at WrestleMania in his own home town of Houston.
Ever since Vickie started butting in with this Triple Threat match, throwing her heart out to who won between Edge and Big Show. This played into John Cena's favor in a psychological manner. With those two knuckleheads manly focused on leaving Houston with Vickie's heart, Cena capitlized on getting the win tonight, pinning the Big Show to reclaim the World Heavyweight Championship! And as I spoke of earlier with CM Punk winning MITB again this year, I would love to see these two man lock up in a title match. Though when will Punk cash in? Only time will tell. With an honorable champion such as Cena, CM Punk won't have to do what he did last year. It'll be called right down the middle in what would be a very interesting clash.
Lastly, the big one. The Main Event for the richest prize in this company. The WWE Championship. One of the most intense, personal rivalries which began back almost five years ago. Randy Orton, youngest World Champion in History, but then shunned and beaten by The Game. ( Back then I didn't quite appreciate this stuff but now I'm happy for it. ) Years later, it has kicked into full gear, seemingly in Randy's favor after he last eliminated Triple H to become the Royal Rumble winner. Now having the right to get a title shot at WrestleMania. On Orton's road to Mania, he took out Vince McMahon, then picked off Shane at No Way Out. Then Stephanie with an RKO. THis finally sparked the Game to invade Raw from Smackdown to tend to his wife. It was on from there. After some coaxing from Triple H, Randy chose to end his rivalry at WrestleMania and for the WWE Title. Though they could not touch each other unless provoked in a physical manner until tonight. However Randy first violated this along with his cohorts from Legacy. Two weeks ago he finally struck the final chord which culminated in Orton's demise tonight. DDT'ing Stephanie then sealing his attack with a kiss to her. Then this past Monday Night, the McMahons returned and evened the playing field with Legacy sidelined by Vince and Shane, leaving The Game to ground and pound on Randy as Raw went off the air. I was loving it. And it couldnt've gotten any better than tonight when Triple H finally annihalated Orton with one of his own moves a Punt to the head, and a Pedigree to seal the deal and to retain his title. WrestleMania was great. Possibly my favorite one ever! ( My past one was WrestleMania 23, but the 25th Anniversary sure made 23 look like a House show! )
This is the small town Georgia boy signing off with his biggest blog entry to date. What do you expect? It's about WrestleMania! THE AFTERMATH OF ANOTHER GROUNDBREAKING HISTORIC EVENT! I hope you don't mind reading it! And in case you didn't get the news, WrestleMania will hit Arizona for the first time next year! WrestleMania XXVI! in Glendale, Arizona. March 29, 2010 at the University of Phoenix Stadium. DON'T MISS IT!
